So your argument is based on the cost of junior fees and not ability??Ibelieve wrote:Junior cricket $50+/yr reg

Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?
You seem infatuated with money. My Lad trains three times a week and plays approximately 25 games a season, including pre-season games. That equates to around 37 weeks of training giving you nearly 250 hours of Club football a season. That works out to nearly $3.50 an hour which in my book is good value.Ibelieve wrote:Junior cricket $50+/yr reg

They kids can train all they want, but what type of training are they doing?
Quality & professional training is key.
And, every kid is different. So a good coach must recognize this and act appropriately for that kid/kids

I'm sure football is heading in the right direction for future of kids with more licenses on offer!!
And yes, I agree that some junior coaches are better than others and do deserve more $$$$
But also more importantly, clubs need to look after those coaches and manage them better....
Clubs themselves are good, but individuals involved are the problem most of the times.
You get many committee members, presidents, junior chairpersons, delegates that have too much say what goes on in junior development & coaching who haven't a clue, but think they have
I agree

Most coaches do not deserve to be paid, except for some expenses. Most junior coaches are people who have a done a basic course (few hours to a week maybe). Some can't kick/pass a ball, most never played the game at a decent level and are doing a very basic job.
SA is basically in a recession (parents out of work) and the fees charged ($900 a year and will probably increase above inflation again next year) are way above value and basically discriminate against poorer people who cannot afford it. No other sport charges fees like FFSA football clubs do.

Not true having spent the weekend in Melbourne where at the club I was visiting junior coaches get up to $18k a year the mentality is still about development.Nova wrote:If you start paying junior coaches 5 - 10 K as it's suggested, the coach will be judged on performance!
Performance = Results

Win at all costs = better players get more game time

ETC

If clubs bump up junior fees to $2500 - $3000k per season like some VIC clubs do, we may be able to pay our junior coaches. Paying those type of fees will not go will with SA clubs.
Or unless NPL clubs can attract an attendance of 2- 3k paying customers week in week out to home games then paying junior coaches could be considered viable in SA.

I've coached juniors and seniors and never been paid - never seen it as an option or possibility and certainly not the reason for doing it.
That being said resources do not allow for it in this country and to be fair in many more traditional footballing countries there are few coaches at grass roots that take any money out of the game. I'm certain that money is not the cure.

Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?
if coach has qualification and reputation then clubs quite rightfully should look to reimburse coaches.if coaches through reputation bring numerous players to club then its in the best interest of clubs to reimburse. unfortunately theres only so many clubs that can afford and there not north east

Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?
If the FFA was really serious about getting Australia (eventually) to a world class standard (say top 10-15), it would need to spend at least 10-20 mil a year on genuine world class junior coaches. Not having a go at those who put in so much hard work into the game, because without them we wouldn't have even got this far. I'm just talking cold reality if we are to get where many dream of.
Whether they have the funds is another question.

Does this include our main pitch, Hudson and Regency grounds? I.e, will that count as one session?El Paso del Norte wrote:No problem, I love the game. Just pay me appropriatelyBomber wrote:Is that offer open to other clubs as well?El Paso del Norte wrote:everyone wants their snout in the trough.

That's for one pitch, you provide the nets, pins, line marker and paint. Lines must already exist.Bomber wrote:

Anything extra and cost will need to be revised.
I did a course with zeljko jurin, so I'm fully qualified, you know my work will be good.

Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?
The problem with most of these junior coaches is that they instruct the players what to do on the field, pass shoot clear it down the line, and as they are told every week they have no decision making skills they are always looking at there coach to tell them what go do
This is why we will not produce world class players

Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?
How much will junior fees to go up by to pay these coaches
15 players in a team, each kids fees will need to go ip by over $300 to cover the lower end of those coaches wages.

Re: What's a GOOD junior coach worth?
So a club may make $100 per child in a team of 14 and you want to pay 5000 per coachIbelieve wrote:Not enough!Pie and Bovril wrote:Coaches get paid
Time, & effort put in these days(especially when fees are so high) I believe coaches should be paid a minimum of $5-10k per year.
I agree but fees should be between 2000-3000 per year
Tennis is minimum 3000 per year and buy your own gear etc
