where have all the referee's gone
can anyone explain why the refs are at an all time low?
Is it just due to comp expansion or have they been put off and made extinct by crowd haggling?
e&d seems fine saturday but sundays fed they go missing?

mmm that is a good theory, bad luck it doesn't hold up.Black_Magick wrote:they wouldn't get abused if they did a good job....
Yes referees can make wrong decisions but so can players and spectators. It's about time players & thier parents learn the rules before making comments. http://www.ffsa.com.au/refcourse.asp
Classic example; on the weekend our U10 team played, one of players was making a run forward, a striker was calling for the ball in the off-side, the player with the ball did not pass the ball, instead he made a run past the striker & took the shot at goals himself
The coach of the opposition team was screaming his guts out for an off-side free, the ref ignored him.
Later the coach came over and apologised to the ref. One of the coaches parents who was on the line & did not call off-side explained that "it can not be off-side unless the ball is passed to the off-side player".

Some refs need to be more consistent in their games. I would really like to see what they are taught when they start and what they do for training. Some refs do not have the fitness to run out a game and therefore stay in the centre circle and ref the match from there. If they keep doing this they will get abused becasue you can't see the whole game from there.
I agree we abuse them to much but it's just how people are. If we can help them out it wouldn't be that made.

yo jonny, thats doesn't explain anything the ref didn't make a bad call.... i know the rules i make sure i'm up to date with them so that way i know what to and what not to do (i know my offsides like ronaldinho knows tricks =D)
i don't mind a ref that makes the occasional bad call but not the refferes that keep on doing it over and over again. it just ruins the game.
the ref i had on the weekend stopped play every 40 seconds just bcoz someone goes in ahrd for a 50/50 or a player nudges another player with the ball or a player steps infront of a player and gets kicked and then call a penalty for the player who kicked the other guy.....
thats not the type of refferee i lyk reffing my games
i like the ones that wait and see if there is advantage to be played, one that speaks to the captains if things are getting out of hand and doesn't book the captains for asking simple questions lyk "why wasn't that a foul?"
the ones that use thier linesmen.....
not many of them around.. there should be more of them

1) If you know the rules, why dont you ref some games instead of bagging refs and see how you go.Black_Magick wrote:yo jonny, thats doesn't explain anything the ref didn't make a bad call.... i know the rules i make sure i'm up to date with them so that way i know what to and what not to do (i know my offsides like ronaldinho knows tricks =D)

2) Each rule is seen differenly by each person, every time. Everyone has a different interpretation.

no matter how people see the rule its still the same rule and should be followed like it is meant to.... rules are ment to be broken but thats for players not refs, refs are ment to prevent that from happening.....
i am actually going for my reffing license soon enough once i save up enough money....
i just stick with doing the lines when ever i can coz i think some refs need the help![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)

Yeah and your view from the sideline is a much better angle especially when you're yelling for the offside on the other side of the park!!!BocaChiefs wrote:Some refs need to be more consistent in their games. Even the professional refs dont follow it like its meant to. Its there interpretation, some refs will stop the game, others will play advantage if its there, others will totally ignore it.Black_Magick wrote:no matter how people see the rule its still the same rule and should be followed like it is meant to.... rules are ment to be broken but thats for players not refs, refs are ment to prevent that from happening.....

Remember some refs are learning the game as well, just like you'll make mistakes with your touch, or missing a pass or goal, they might miss a free kick etc

Blue Attacker is in the Red penalty area and is about to kick the ball into an empty net when a Red Substitute runs onto the field and kicks him to the ground...
What do you do as a ref? (besides panic and runaway!!)
P.S. i didn't know the answer myself i just found it on a website... i NEVER claimed to know all the rules you did!!

Hmm. Well depends on the reaction after the incident, you might need to call off the game if sparks an all in brawl. Otherwise you would award a penalty, send off the substitute (red card), address the issue with the coach and the ground steward to ensure it doesnt happen and continue the match.rooboy1986 wrote:Okay without cheating try this one...Black_Magick wrote:yo jonny, thats doesn't explain anything the ref didn't make a bad call.... i know the rules i make sure i'm up to date with them so that way i know what to and what not to do (i know my offsides like ronaldinho knows tricks =D)

Okay, same question what would you do if a spectator came onto the field and took out the striker?

im happy to announce that gleeson college and the FFSA (matt cream) will be conducting an entry level course for a group of 20 students who are part of the footballing program there.
these students will then be able to take junior games at their respective clubs and be paid for it instead of pushing trolleys or flipping burgers!!!
another great initiative!!!!!!!

I also organised for Matthew Cream to come to the club and give all the junior & thier parents a seesion on Laws of the Game
An opportunity exists for Clubs, Schools or any sporting groups wishing to gain a better understanding of the Laws of Football. Our objective is to teach the Laws of the Game to as many coaches, players, parents and supporters of our wonderful evolving game.
These sessions are presented by Qualified Referees/Instructors and cater for all ages.
