Being cup-tied in Junior Cup
Does anyone actually know what the real rules are in the cup about being cup-tied to a specific team??

Re: Being cup-tied in Junior Cup
Good question.
For example, is it possible to play in a JPL team that's still in the cup, if you previously played in the same clubs JSL team that eventually gets knocked out?

Junior Cup Competition Rules
13. Player Eligibility
13.1 Players can only play for one club in all Cup Competitions.
13.2 Players shall not be permitted to be listed in a semi-final or final of the Junior Cup Competition unless they have been named on the team sheet in at least one match in an earlier cup round of that same age cup competition. Where a team progresses directly into the semi-final without playing a game, this rule is not applicable.
13.3 Where a club may not have sufficient players to field a team in a semi-final or final due to injury or illness, a club may request an exemption to clause 13.2 by submitting a request to FFSA requesting to name additional players. If an exemption is granted, the club may only be permitted to move players up from a lower or equal age group. Any decision is at the sole and absolute discretion of FFSA.
14. Movement of Players
14.1 For all Junior Cup Competitions, players shall be permitted to move up an age group, but once the player has moved up to a higher age group they shall not be permitted to move back down to the lower age group. If a Club has two teams in the same age group, once a player has played for one team, they shall not be permitted to move to the other team in the same age group.
14.2 Players are not permitted to participate in the Junior Cup Competition if they have participated in a Senior Cup Competition, being the Under 18s, Reserves or WFFA Cup.
14.3 A goalkeeper is not cup tied and may play for another team if age eligible. This rule only applies provided that they play as a goalkeeper.
Breach of Rule – Forfeit of Game and Level 2 Fine

This bit is new this year and may cause some issues if teams and players are not careful.

Clears up a few questions I had.
I would have thought that they allow movement from JSL to JPL in the same age group without requesting exemption.

Didn't Fulham swap both teams over?fball12 wrote:Thanks for the rules.Mrs Red wrote:Junior Cup Competition Rules

Re: Being cup-tied in Junior Cup
am curious as to why the question? Do you know something that has or might happen??
What I am thinking is that a team that might be JPL has been knocked out, the club then is thinking of playing a few of the JPL players in the JSL team to beef up the JSL side for the next round. The rules do not really 'cover' this except under 14.1 where the player has played for the team that is knocked out...I guess it should have the rider of 'they shall not be permitted to move to the other team in the same age group, even after one team has been knocked out they are tied to the original team played for'. Or something along that line, it is being pedantic however does shore up a possible loophole that someone might use.
But then again unless you know which kids are which you'd be hard pressed to say that the team fielded is the actual side and not full of ring-ins........yep that can o'worms of the proof of identity card.
Cheers

Re: Being cup-tied in Junior Cup
It might be that a JSL team played in the preliminary round and a few a JPL players played for them. I would think a few teams might have been stung by that. It's good and fair rule though.geoff9559 wrote:am curious as to why the question? Do you know something that has or might happen??

Re: Being cup-tied in Junior Cup
Magnet,
Yep can see the situation - JSL team with a few JPL and they lose, so then they want the JPL kids to play back in their original team.....which theoretically they cant as they played in the JSL for the Cup.
But more than likely they will play for their JPL team in the Cup as no-one checks who is actually who in matches for juniors and really anyone could play so long as they look the age and arent amazingly good that gets the eye of other coaches or officials.
