Apart from forcing everyone to get up earlier that day, no other inconvenience in booking pitches/referees/etc..
Would allow around an hour to get to the A-league final in time..

Re: A League Final
Really, for the spirit of the competition/game/togetherness clubs should be willing to be flexible in this special case..
1) It's a grand final
2) Adelaide United is in it
3) It's the first time they've been in the final for around 10 years
4) Supporters/families have already booked tickets in many cases
5) Is it really going to be a "friendly/good natured" game if you've just pissed off the opposition by not re-arranging the game?

1. I don't believe in the format
2. So?
3. Refer point one.
4. Players would have registered to play a lot earlier
5. Commit to play, commit for the season.

Re: A League Final
Apart from getting up early, 9am on a Sunday morning to actually be playing. I'd have to get up at 7:30. That's earlier than I get up for work.Cadenza wrote:I think the least clubs could do if they can't move the day is play the games earlier on the Sunday. Yeah probably, but this is the way it is in Australia and if our local team is not just in the final but hosting it, we need to get behind it.....God is an Englishman wrote:I think most football fans believe in the league table.Right Back wrote:Welcome to Australia, there has been grand finals since the early 1980'sKichise Michiko wrote:1. We're talking about getting up earlier for 1 game! Just 1 game! Unbelievable peoples in-flexibility here..Baresi wrote:You work? lolGod is an Englishman wrote:Apart from getting up early, 9am on a Sunday morning to actually be playing. I'd have to get up at 7:30. Re: A League Final
It doesn't affect me by the way as I'm not playing, I just think it's unfair/unsportsmanlike teams not willing to be flexible..

Could say the same about people who sign up for something and expect the goal posts to be moved for them.

Re: A League Final
How is it unfair, it's the same for both teams. Both teams play by the fixtures that came out before the grand final time and venue was decided.Cadenza wrote:It doesn't affect me by the way as I'm not playing, I just think it's unfair/unsportsmanlike teams not willing to be flexible..
Re: A League Final
the games were moved by mutual consent though, not the league.God is an Englishman wrote:How is it unfair, it's the same for both teams. The league has allowed the moves and aided, but they never forced the change of kick off times.
and Cadenza, the coaches are there to find and take advantage of weaknesses, most of these games are moved as clubs are in the same boat, if you have full strength squad available when your opponent may be weakened then i dont think there is nothing wrong wanting to play it at the scheduled time.

Re: A League Final
Completely agree, if a Sunday team is scheduled to play a Saturday team on a Sunday, why the hell would they want to help their opposition out by playing it on a Saturday? (depending on what their ambitions are with the cup of course)Gristy wrote:the games were moved by mutual consent though, not the league.God is an Englishman wrote:How is it unfair, it's the same for both teams. Re: A League Final
No, the majority in the SAASL probably would like to see first past the post A-League Champions BUT they'd also I my opinion for the most part take measures to see the game and have the cup fixtures played at a different mutually agreeable timeGod is an Englishman wrote:So he's not in the minority then?Right Back wrote: Yeah probably, but this is the way it is in Australia and if our local team is not just in the final but hosting it, we need to get behind it.....

Re: A League Final
Oh its not? So where exactly should we discuss it when the amateur arm of Seaford plays on Sundays at 1pm & 3pm and the FFSA arm of Seafrd play junior games on Sunday morning. Pitch availability DOES come into it, so it's not just a case of saying " just push the games back earlier on the Sunday", and this is relevant to the amateur league forum because it affects our amateur club.Slinky_Pete wrote:That's not something to discuss in the Amateur League forum.Hatchet Squad wrote:And this is a solution for clubs with FFSA affiliated juniors how?Cadenza wrote:I think the least clubs could do if they can't move the day is play the games earlier on the Sunday. Re: A League Final
Bottom line, just get on with it or forfeit if cant arrange alternatives.
I remember when several Polonia boys went to Poland for the Euros and had to accept that they'd a few spankings due to limited squads for some time. They just got on with it.
As swanny says, it is what it is and people have choices!

Re: A League Final
I bet Amateur Footy teams don't have games at the same time as the AFL Grand Final..
I just thought that the A-League grand final would be a big deal, as this is a football (soccer) site.., maybe I'm just a traditionalist..
shame..

Its hard enough trying to start league reserve games at 1pm with FFSA juniors playing throughout the morningHatchet Squad wrote:
