Australia v west indies
Good to see the Englishman James Pattinson getting another go in the side.
Poor West Indies side, decent bowlers but batting is weak.

350 runs already !! Looks like the rumoured green top didn't eventuate after all, pity. The only way this will go 5 days is if the aussies feel the need to grind out 1000 runs

A flat deck produced for a game against a side with weak batting but reasonable bowling.
Mmmmmm.

It's greener than it usually is if anything. Windies are just shit atm and you could produce a minefield and we'd still smash them. Even your lot probably would.

So, not a traditional wicket - doctored.Bomber wrote:It's greener than it usually is if anything. Windies are just shit atm and you could produce a minefield and we'd still smash them. Even your lot probably would.
As for "even your lot probably would" - Well obviously if Australia would, then we would seeing as we hold the Ashes.

Feel free to describe what a traditional Bellerive test pitch plays like.God is an Englishman wrote:So, not a traditional wicket - doctored.Bomber wrote:It's greener than it usually is if anything. And we smashed you the last test we played.

I don't know what a traditional wicket there is, however your comment above shows that you do and you consider it to not be traditional.
The same as Adelaide Oval and the WACA weren't traditional wickets for those grounds.

Re: Australia v west indies
Greener if anything - therefore trumps your argument about "flat deck" against a team with reasonable bowling but crap batting.
Therefore not altered to specifically favour the home team. Simple!

But as you said, not a normal deck which has been your argument as to why Australia don't doctor previously.Bomber wrote:Greener if anything - therefore trumps your argument about "flat deck" against a team with reasonable bowling but crap batting.

It's still a very flat deck, don't see how it could be less green outside of the sub continent.

Shane Warne just said "I'm enjoying watching James Pattinson bowl"
This is in the first over and he wasn't bowling

You can judge a pitch just by looking at, when there's not much green in it then it's very rare it's not a batting deck.zackadacka wrote:Or Pitch for that matterGod is an Englishman wrote:Never judge a score until both teams have batted

Adelaide no longer has a 'traditional' deck, now that it's drop-in pitches. You cannot compare historically any more.

They are still prepared from the same turf, I believe it's grown 100m away from the middle. Same groundsman as previous years, the same groundsman who was trained by the previous groundsman.Slinky_Pete wrote:Adelaide no longer has a 'traditional' deck, now that it's drop-in pitches. They've also had a drop in wicket for a few years now and the previous ones performed the same as that "traditional" wicket.
Why did this one suddenly become a bowlers wicket and the test only last 3 days?

Batsmen struggling doesn't necessarily mean its a bowler's wicket. Pink ball, day/night experiment and all that.God is an Englishman wrote:They are still prepared from the same turf, I believe it's grown 100m away from the middle. We'll likely have a 3 day test in Hobart now, and yet you refer to it as a flat track.

Re: Australia v west indies
Do you honestly not think it's a flat track? There were 3 day tests in England that were apparently designed to negate bowlers.Bomber wrote:Batsmen struggling doesn't necessarily mean its a bowler's wicket. It will end quickly because of the w indies being poor, not because of the deck.

One minute, green track, will even things out and favour bowlers and therefore assist Windies if anything. Aussies win toss, make 6 million runs and Windies on their knees. "Track" has FA to do with it.

Bravo interviewed this morning and saying the pitch is not doing anything and batting is fair sky straight forward.
The Englishman taken 4 wickets today though and bowling well.

Got to agree - always use to want to beat the w indies the most growing up.MegaBonus wrote:nostalgia has me pitying the result....grew up watching Clive, Richards, Marshall, Haynes, greenidge etc etc...how the mighty have fallen...
20/20 the main culprit on that one

Re: Australia v west indies
I think it goes back further than 20/20.......with pay TV introduced to the Caribbean, many youngsters turned to basketball (NBA) and football....not to mention corruption and a lack of forward planning for when the tide turned against them ie youth academies etc etc
