Not really.ozzie owl wrote:Shouldn't this be in the Lounges - Other Sports - Forum?
People are quick to post anti AFL threads on here to compare to A League.
I think it's relevant and also the silence on the matter speaks volumes

Last time I checked it's not an AUFC supporters only forum
So no need to tell them to 'F OFF'

You had no idea of a multi billion dollar TV deal in the sporting industry but I bet you knew that AUFC beat Alice Springs tonightStuckey wrote:NFI there even was one.

To put the current deal into perspectiveozzie owl wrote:if the next HAL TV deal goes up significantly up as well who cares what AFL deal is?
Last deal FFA signed - $40m over 4 years
New AFL deal - $415m a year over 7 years
Huge!!

Most definitely - and that it flows back to grassroots.ozzie owl wrote:Wow a big gap between current AFL and FFA deals pretty obvious .
What it's important is that that FFA negotiate significant increases for football in this country.
Hopefully the increase can go towards sending National youth sides to tournaments overseas - as Government funding being pulled and no Natonal team sponsor seem to be taking its toll.

Re: AFL TV Deal
the sport has money, but the grassroots is screwed, they will lose most of it chasing growth in nsw and qld which just wont happen

I agree funds need to flow through to all levels of the game :Wraith wrote:Most definitely - and that it flows back to grassroots.ozzie owl wrote:Wow a big gap between current AFL and FFA deals pretty obvious .

1. Junior coaching.
2. Junior facilities.
3. Financial stabilising the HAL clubs.
4. Further expand and grow the FFA cup.
5. Focus on growing the second tier NPL competition.

Re: AFL TV Deal
great article by Roy Masters on the politics behind this. dollar amount had to be higher than the NRL / 9 deal after the NRL screwed Foxtel out of the State of Origin. Rupert Murdoch sticking it up the new NRL Commission.
hopefully this translates to football, but is unlikely.

Re: AFL TV Deal
End of Rupert has always been an AFL follower, and likes to put money where he is likely to get a best outcome. There would be a hint of "looking over the shoulder" at football/A-League but its still a long way off and clearly why the comparisons are made with the NRL still.
Ignore this signature
Re: AFL TV Deal
The dude is like 90, isnt it just the last couple of years where he put his money into AFL? I may be wrong though. Also wasnt he part of the NRL super league concept a long time ago?Bomber wrote:End of Rupert has always been an AFL follower, and likes to put money where he is likely to get a best outcome. Rupert is just interested at investing where he can make money, full stop.

Re: AFL TV Deal
End of the day, AFL has the bigger audience and supporters over nrl and aleague, so you would expect a bigger tv deal.
Interesting to see how the afl spends this extra money, putting into grassroots could allow them to catch "soccer" as the no1 participated sports in juniors.
Aleague in its current state will find it hard to compare with afl in regards to tv deals.
