i think you will find its a derby match because it is between the two strongest clubs in the division that have a greek heritage so whilst they may be friends, in theory they are still the biggest rivals on the park.Frappe wrote:I thought they were all friends, why is it known as a derby??

adelaide's home ground is actually the Western Youth Centre on Marion Rd, and yes i think while the two games should be relatively even the factor of having the mid-week cup games could have an impact on the way the games go considering player fatigue, unexpected injuries etc.pulse wrote:On Saturday 28th April FC Adelaide take on MA Hawks down at Down at the Western Suburbs FC Adelaide Home Ground.

the beauty of a match like this is that form is not always a measuring stick for how the teams will fare and often it comes down to the hunger and passion of the players for their club.
should be good to see, adelaide's first home game for the season and the BBQ's they hold are one of the best going around...

this isnt a Derby.
the true derby is the Adelaide Raiders V MA HAWKS days
i remember the days on greenhill road when MA HAWKS won 10% of those derbys if they were lucky
one game that sticks in my mind was when the raiders beat the hawks 8-zip

A's game was awesome viewing for the neutral spectator, plenty of goals in such bad weather, although luckily not much heavy rain during that game, Ressies copped most of it.
intersted to hear your thoughts on the pitch condition Rick James, first home game for Adelaide and the pitch is looking really good and very playable even in heavy rain - would have to say its one of the better pitches doing the rounds at the moment.
also cheers to the hawks boys for sticking around for a few drinks and the barbie - top effort!

Yeah i enjoyed playing on the pitch up until I ran on the Marion Rd end where the cricket pitch is in the second half and sunk 10 cm but besides that all was good……lol
