Sunday Div 1 - Round 2 results

Florina vs USC Lion

C's 6 - 0 (vs Athelstone as USC have no C team). Game looked a bit shaky to begin with, Florina scored at approximately the 25 minute mark and after that it was all one-way traffic.

B's 4 - 0. A much improved effort over last week, the fella's stroked the ball around well and ran all day creating opportunity after opportunity. A great effort.

A's 0 - 0. Scoreless draw. The game was entertaining enough to watch but Florina squandered good chances on goal and poor finishing was the flavour of the day. I counted 6 (?) yellow cards being flashed by the ref, 3 for Florina and 3 for USC.

What were Inter like Robbo? They are sitting pretty at the moment with two wins but it is obviously very early days. Are the Farm under-performing at the moment? I was expecting them to get off to a good start after looking at the draw. I also heard you are losing one of your new signings in DS shortly.

How are your legs Redders? You got kicked a few times in the first half today.

Inter were solid, well organized at the back and were hard to score against I thought.

Their goal was a penalty (which was there..) otherwise they dont look too dangerous up front for mine.

They had their fullback sent off after 70 minutes and we still were unable to score, they dropped right back and defended well.

Good bunch of lads Inter - some of whom were still havin a beer at the club when I left a 7:30pm.

We will be hoping to turn it around against you boys this week at yours.

I think we (Ingle Farm) played alright today. Lacked the last ball to the strikers to create lots of chances but the build up was good. Inter just played hard. Kicked us and closed down space. Sat deep with numbers and we couldn't find a way through. Penalty was there but I think it was Wilson made more of it than what it was. If that contest had been in the middle of the park, no way he would of gone down. In saying that, contact was there and referee picked it.

Thanks to Inter for having a drink and buying some raffle tickets for the Gavin Powney fund raiser. Inter are a great bunch of guys off the park.

The B's was a tight game also. We looked the better team and had a heap of chances but Inter were never out of it. I honestly thought they would score but we kept them out.

Cheers also the the SAASL for the donation made to Gavin Powney. We had a few of them out there for a look and hope they enjoyed the game.

your right there othello squandered chances , but the new players did well
and the return of shamus was great in the back line as usual..

B's much improved effort and that new right midfielder we played was a great new prospect. :D

It sounds like the the Farm style is too predictable. May have worked in Div 2 but not in Div 1, defending is the key. If you have the goods up front and in the middle of the park, the goals will come, but you must always defend your goal, you let the other team get a sniff in Div 1 and your day is over.

I disagree Yammy Boy, Inter were extremely lucky to walk away with the points. They had one shot on goal which was the penalty. I have never seen a guy built like Barry Hall squeal like Mickey Mouse, it was like he was gunned down in a drive through shoot out. Inter have nothing up front nor in the midfield. Just some solid defenders, who played very well.

I do agree with defending your goal remark, yesterday was an example of one chance one goal, defend well, win the game. Fulham was similar the week before. I tend to think this may be what we will come up against every week. There certainly in no free lunches in div 1.
