Made of Teflon, although he seems a bit worried that half his voters will be in custody. Inconvenient timing to say the least.God is an Englishman wrote:Just a pity blatter wasn't one of them.
Blatter, who is widely expected to win a fifth term at the helm, is now actively lobbying for a postponement of Friday's ballot, according to FIFA insiders, although this is expected to be opposed by his one and only opponent, Prince Ali Bin al Hussein of Jordan.

The Swiss made the arrests at the States' behest. I think it's because the money was allegedly laundered through US banks.black wrote:the US have arrested and driving this?

Read a book a while back about a bloke who has sentenced to time in jail in the states and he'd never even been there. Caused problems when he was released as he'd never entered the country, yet there he was.

Reports saying that this was started by Prince Ali (England's nomination for president) who was approached with the offer of buying 47 votes.

Couldn't disagree more, anyone going to fight against our own troops should get exactly what they deserve.

Re: 10 FIFA Executives arrested on Corruption charges
Was always going to happen. Blatter has carefully cultivated (some allege, bribe ) all the smaller football federation members (i.e. all those that could possibly be bought) to vote for him. Nearly all the major countries, like UEFA members, cannot stand him. It's ridiculous that countries like Benin, Cape Verde, Bhutan and the Cook Islands get the same number of votes (1 each) as Brazil, Italy, Germany etc.Con M wrote:Septic Bladder (a.k.a. Herr Sepp Blatter) re-elected. Teflon man.
There's talk now that European teams, along with others, might boycott the WC in protest. Personally, I doubt it, although if they did fund their own "World minus Blatter Cup", it would have all the decent teams and all the sponsors behind it. FIFA would then become irrelevant.
At least Lowy voted against him.

Pity Lowy voted for him 4 years ago and also voted to not delay the vote at that time. England have been leading way against Blatter for too long on their own, good to see other countries finally waking up.

Too late with all the infrastructure etc already done to move 2018 from the land of vodka/oligarchs/mafioso/prostitutes.
Same goes for 2022. The EPL & big Euro Leagues are just gonna love 2022 being held in November/December.

Re: 10 FIFA Executives arrested on Corruption charges
You might be right about 2018 and, IMO, Russia is not the worst place to hold a WC, however I have a feeling that 2022 award might well be investigated and rescinded.Con M wrote:Too late with all the infrastructure etc already done to move 2018 from the land of vodka/oligarchs/mafioso/prostitutes.

Looking on Twitter - Andrew Jennings is saying his documents were passed on to the FBI and Blatter is next in the cross hairs.
