Unbelievable but true

Post by marooned »

Florina and PHE drew 2-2 last week. The offical score sheet handed into the league states a 2.-1 win to Florina. The SAASL website has a 2-1 win to PHE.

Downs humped Parafield 4-1 and a Parafield player got the best on ground votes and no it wasnt their keeper it was their striker. I dont recall him having a shot on goal?

And thats round 1 with 17 to go more stories of blind freddies mistakes will come to the fore.

it has been changed now penalty 11 but as of 8.33 fri night it wasnt. i cut and pasted from the website and it was as shown.

That not an issue now but it seems a draw has been recorded as a win and PHE may have to appeal the result. Im sure Florina wont. And neither would I. My point is what the refs see and what happens on the park are sometimes two completely different stories.

you blokes wanna talk about crap little refereeing instances yet your not prepared to offer any constructive discussion on how to fix or help solve the referee''n problem we have! Marooned ain't you the chairman of the EDSC one of the strongest amateur clubs around. You have more to offer than whining over petty little instances; join the the call for action on trying to fix the refereeing problem!

nugget the use of this forum and my "petty" whining is the only part you get to see of my attempts to fix probems ie refereeing.

In years gone by referees did not favour a road trip to argana park because of the abuse from both sets of supporters and players. This is no longer the case. We use club officals at all games that monitor all supporter and player behaviour towards officals. Referees love it here they are made to feel welcome and are not intimidated (average crowd 400+) we also offer officals gatorade at halftime and most come in after the game for a beer.

Ive cleaned up my backyard. What have you done?

Oh yes the referee lodging the wrong score with SAASL is more than "petty"to me.

Marooned i've done pretty much the same as you in trying to address referee abuse & like your club we will continue to try to improve it, but we need to do more as clubs to try to fix the problem we have with the lack of referee numbers & quality than just stopping the abuse. All i'm saying is that you more than anyone has spoken on this forum on numerous ocassions in the lack of quality in 1st division referee's we have 4 grade 1 ref's & i agree totally with you on this; however we as clubs need to try & fix this as there seem's to be no solutions to this problem coming from the league! how long have we had this problem? can you see it fixing it's self or even the league fixing it. can you imagine if it get's any worse..........that all i on about

No its true i seen it

Nugget i have had many talks with the amatuer league and the referees association about numbers and quality of those numbers.
i do believe its their job to organise their numbers just as it is my and my commitees job to organise our numbers.
I and you or any other club are not here to run the league or the refs association.
Commitees are voted in and are expected to do their job as best as possible .
All I can do is comply with directions they give me in regards to abuse and saftey and club refs.
They know what the problems are and they know how to fix it.
I make comment on standards on this forum because they would get peeved at me ringing them all day.

I agree with you marooned it's not the clubs job to organise referee number's & the quality of those numbers, but seriously how long have we had this problem & what have the league done to fix it? except put it back on the clubs to increase numbers by having club referee's which is'nt the answer.

The league can only provide the ref's they have, good or bad, they can't provide ref's they don't have!!!!
If there isn't enough to go round, and finding new ref's is too hard what can they do???? reduce the number of teams playing the game???increase the ref's match payments to attract more people to show up with the whistle????its hard enough paying them enough as it is, even harder when one pays them that little bit extra  shouldn't of said that.

Bulldog all im saying is lets not bury our heads in the sand & wait for the league to sort it out cause they have'nt yet & it's been a problem for years & just keeps on getting worse. Every club who feilds a side with the amateur league especially the higher divisions where the referee standard is lacking should be concerned about this problem & we should all get together to discuss how to fix it. Its in our best interest to try to fix the problem is'nt it?

Did you hear the story about crims getting day release to unpire AFL footy games?? We could get Spencer Von Einem to referee a few football games.

Seriously though, the clubs have already got too much on their hands without having to deal with the referee issues. There's an Amateur League and a Referee association that should be dealing with it, rather than scratching their heads all the time.

Again i agree it's not the clubs job to fix it but who else if not us? We've seen the league's attempt to fix it they just put it back on the clubs. I think you all would agree there is a problem & there has been for years & pretty soon its going to start affecting us from the quality of players that we can attact because of sub standard refereeing to the crowds that come & support our clubs.

Incidentally, referees make bad decisions on purpose. They love the abuse. Come on, who in there right mind wants to be a ref unless they like to be degraded. They are filthy. It's a masochistic thing, why do you think they wear black.

I'm certain I seen the shape of a suspender belt through a referees shorts once.

All you sad people who care about stamping out referee abuse are only discoraging the deviants.

Most s**t teams/players like to blame the refs.

Just let them take there sledging so they can think about it in private of an evening, if you know what I mean.
