Re: FIFA corruption ?
look john its just human nature. people get into positions of power and suddenly, well paid is just not enough to sustain them. but true and it always has been.
Re: FIFA corruption ?
Blatter has been in charge for 17 years.
Said he couldn't watch everyone, but what did he actually do to prevent it in the 1st place or stop it from growing in the last 17 years atleast

Its called plausible deniability. Politicians are very skilled in using it.Side Kick wrote:Blatter has been in charge for 17 years.

Re: FIFA corruption ?
But that's the whole point of good governance. You can't watch everyone all the time so you need processes in place to ensure things are monitored and done in a proper fashion. Sepp Blunder clearly hasn't done anything to introduce such thingsSide Kick wrote:Blatter has been in charge for 17 years.

Re: FIFA corruption ?
I can tell that if wholesale corruption at senior level in say in a major public Australian company , that the CEO would be out the door pretty quick. The leader is ultimately accountable for such issues.Side Kick wrote:That's my whole point.limozeen wrote:But that's the whole point of good governance. Re: FIFA corruption ?
blatter is swiss isnt he. we all know about swiss bank accounts dont we. wish i had one but im sure he has one or two plus his teflon overcoat. the bottom line is that corruption starts from the top and trickles down. its human nature unfortunately, look at our own state govt as a good example right on our bloody doorstep.

Re: FIFA corruption ?
also. be carefull what you wish for. the yanks are jumping up and down now only becos they have wanted to control fifa ever since they realised that there was megabucks in football. soccah to them and now they think they have a chance. a yankee president, corrupt or otherwise would stuff the game up completely if given the chance simply becos yanks dont like anything other countries invented so,if given the opportunity they then will tinker with format, rules, regs etc etc until the game resembles something the yanks could genuinely claim as their own. dont laugh. if you dont know, some of the changes the yanks have put foreward over the years to fifa would make football fans hair stand on end. the word soccer for a start. goals higher and wider, timeouts, penalty shootouts, ditch the offside rule, the list goes on because the yanks dont see any merit in a hard fought no score draw. pray for the game if this was to happen. the orakle has spoken.THE ORAKLE wrote:blatter is swiss isnt he. we all know about swiss bank accounts dont we. wish i had one but im sure he has one or two plus his teflon overcoat. the bottom line is that corruption starts from the top and trickles down. its human nature unfortunately, look at our own state govt as a good example right on our bloody doorstep.

Re: FIFA corruption ?
Whilst FIFA appears to be amongst the most corrupt organisations in the world,it's interesting how the US govt is playing the tough cop here. Nothing wrong with that per se.
If only they extended their white collar crime- fighting to the crooked banks, big pharma, big Agri etc.
That fraud dwarfs even FIFA's efforts.
Of course nothing will ever be done about these protected companies/ industries.

The problem is that there's not enough Italians in FIFA
That's why it's not run properly

Re: FIFA corruption ?
I think you need a history lesson.... The term "soccer" was first used in England many, many, many years ago, its a derivative of Association football.THE ORAKLE wrote:also. be carefull what you wish for. the yanks are jumping up and down now only becos they have wanted to control fifa ever since they realised that there was megabucks in football. soccah to them and now they think they have a chance. a yankee president, corrupt or otherwise would stuff the game up completely if given the chance simply becos yanks dont like anything other countries invented so,if given the opportunity they then will tinker with format, rules, regs etc etc until the game resembles something the yanks could genuinely claim as their own. dont laugh. if you dont know, some of the changes the yanks have put foreward over the years to fifa would make football fans hair stand on end. the word soccer for a start. goals higher and wider, timeouts, penalty shootouts, ditch the offside rule, the list goes on because the yanks dont see any merit in a hard fought no score draw. pray for the game if this was to happen. the orakle has spoken.THE ORAKLE wrote:blatter is swiss isnt he. we all know about swiss bank accounts dont we. wish i had one but im sure he has one or two plus his teflon overcoat. the bottom line is that corruption starts from the top and trickles down. its human nature unfortunately, look at our own state govt as a good example right on our bloody doorstep.
The average "Yank" couldn't care less about soccer, the majority of supporters of MLS are of central/south American background, as are seemingly most of the corrupt FIFA officials.
They should scrap the whole of FIFA and start from scratch.

Re: FIFA corruption ?
Respected Blatter several years ago but he is well past his sell by date and should be removed from power immediately- FIFA has become a laughing stock and if they don't sort out this mess a splinter group will form and break away. As a man if he wants to receive any respect or shred of dignity (most probably far too late for that IMO) he should resign and surrender his position. He is a clever cookie who instructs his disciples to do the dirty work on his behalf. Only lasted as long because he has secured votes doing what he does best.
FIFA has become a monster which has evolved beyond its own control- too many parasites feeding off it with their thirst for corruption, power and control. Mind you, just sounds like most of the political parties and governments which rip us all off for their own personal gain.
When the dust settles (could take a while as all the legal eagles will want to take their cut) they will all say that harsh lessons have been learnt and they (FIFA or otherwise) will start afresh. The cleansing process will look good with fresh faces and ideas- until the monster grows again!
