Refs leaving the game

Ok, so it looks like CV has effectively "retired". Going back to the "locked" White City topic, I note a relevant post by El Paso, in that properly mentored, he shouldn't have had to do this. I notice lately some of today's inspectors have hardly any clue anyway, so god knows what was going into reports.
This business of them having to do 100 metre dash in a certain time really needs to be looked at, amongst other "restrictions".
Some of the best refs out there were ones with good communication, a love of the game (and thus always looked almost happy), and explained decisions quickly and promptly with respect to the players. Inevitably, these would get respect back, and hardly ever had to deal with troubling incidents (examples, Mark Jennings, Curtis Wordsworth).
Yes, spectators need to pull their head in sometimes, but some are passionate and take it to heart when they feel "ripped off" (myself included), but the "system" really needs to look at best outcome practices, and I'm not sure that is the case at the moment.

The problem is conflict of interest in the ref world, those that do busy a gut to do well don't get rewarded the ones that suck up and get given the rewards, get prompted and promptly have issues when it comes down to the task at hand. NO kpi on ref performance or attitude, when you have arrogance creep in from the top, you get it in the main stream.
It's a shame but until ref get real feedback and are measured accordingly then people have loose respect, because none is given.

Cronyism, nepotism, favouritism, despotism, AKA the League Of Losers.
If you don't need financial KPIs, why would you need KPIs for any other facets of the narcisistic regime?

Agree with the above post. The wrong people are running tge referee. Arrogant and there only for their own interest.
As for assessors, most of the assessors these days have not officiated in any top level games. Handed out like lollipops.

It isn't the quality of assessors, most have distinguished pasts - Craig Zetter, ex FIFA ref, being one of the younger assessors going around.
My perception is that it's the small number of assessors, their piecemeal use and that their hands are also tied by the same self-interest group who will bin assessment reports that don't meet their goals (if you don't score a favourite highly enough, they hide the report and won't give the assessor any games for several weeks. Score a non-favourite too high, and the same process is followed. Assessors have quietly admitted they score favourites 8-12 points higher because they are told to, otherwise they are punished).

To name one, Zach Schwank is an outstanding young ref I've observed over 5-6 years now, but he's still doing u18s. No relation or connection there, just observation. Clearly he's an example of the non-favourites who grind on regardless. Once these types finish uni or whatever they then give FFSA the bird, which is a shame and a loss to SA football courtesy of those running refereeing in SA.

Unfortunately those running the game have different criteria for refereeing to those playing the game. You only have to ask the players who's a decent ref and who's rubbish.

And it's nothing to do with how fast they can run 100m
