Yawn
You'll probably find a few teams there are made up of more than one country.

ps, Is that loose collection of island states a even a country?
They've lost more to basketball than to football according to my west indian mates. Years of the cricket facilities not being looked after etc.

I can think of 2, possibly 3 (not sure on the qualification but maybe even 4.

Wasn't sure if N Ireland counted as technically the cricket side is only S Ireland.Eliteguiden wrote:West Indies (Bermuda, Bahamas etc.)

What about UAE? Do the Emirates count as different "countries"?

Re: Cricket World Cup
I did say at least.
I'm pretty sure the Ireland team represents both sides of the border, hence the flag.

An emirate is a political territory that is ruled by a dynastic Arab monarch styled emir. It also means principalityGod is an Englishman wrote:
You are indeed correct.
Now, is an Emirate a country?

Re: Cricket World Cup
More like Wales, Færoe Islands and Surinam which are all parts of other 'countries'. I don't think anyone considers Monaco and Andorra to be that.

So you have to be part of another country to be an emirate?Eliteguiden wrote:More like Wales, Færoe Islands and Surinam which are all parts of other 'countries'. I don't think anyone considers Monaco and Andorra to be that.

The UAE is a country with separate principalities ruling a province. Basically two states to form a country.God is an Englishman wrote:Wasn't sure if N Ireland counted as technically the cricket side is only S Ireland.Eliteguiden wrote:West Indies (Bermuda, Bahamas etc.)

How come Wales can have team(s) in the EPL, yet other British home nations like Scotland & Northern Ireland can't ?Slinky_Pete wrote:Why does it have a Prince then?God is an Englishman wrote:Wales is a country, it's no longer a principality.N5 1BH wrote:So an emirate would be a country in the same sense that the Wales, Monaco & Andorra etc. are countries
Re: Cricket World Cup
Who says they can't? I'm pretty sure Gretna (I think it was Gretna) used to play in the English football pyramid. Had they been more successful they could have worked ther way up there.
How ironic is my avatar?

They'd judge that wrong as well and go down the wrong line. Hopefully this will be the push to get rid of Downton.
Meanwhile KP is sitting on a beach in the W Indies not required.
Re: Cricket World Cup
For the second time this WC, New Zealand will bat before the supper break after having bowled an opposition out. Tim Southee. What a spell by him. Seven wickets. Four of them were outswinger hitting the off stump. New Zealand were too good - with the ball, in the field, with the captaincy - against the top order, but pretty ordinary from the lower order. Root made no attempt to farm the strike as the wickets kept falling. And Broad kept running away from the ball
