Australia/NZ/Saffers the only real contenders for me
Hasn't taken the english/irish captain long to start whingeing, and its about issues beyond the world cup. Fancy him thinking the modern game is favoured toward the bowling/fielding side.

Underestimate Afghanistan at your peril.
I'm not playing anymore and I'm taking my ball and going home.

Cricket World .surely the most drawn out sporting tournament , 14 teams and takes 49 days to get a winner. Aussie open on 14th Feb and play last group game on March 14th.

Given a game is three/four times as long as a game of football it's not surprising.

Expand to 16 have four groups of four , with top four into QF and so on, but 6 games just to get to QF is crazy.

Actually agree with that, although assume you mean top 8 (top and runner up of each group) to go on to QF.

Yes top two each group trough to knock out phase.
That would give a 31 game tournament.

cricket isn't a physical game. surely they could do alot of back-to-back matches rather than 3/4 days rest.

That's why our fast bowlers are never injured.

For the world cup Australia has seven day break between some games.
have to agree with Chappelli when he says it takes too long to get to the quarter final stage.

As I have discovered this is not being broadcast on terrestrial tv I have no interest in this competition.
How ironic is my avatar?

Oh dear, things didnt start off well when the england captain didn't sing their national anthem, then sent us in to bat. Oh well, 111 run win will do for now.
Must say I thought the last wicket should have been declared a dead ball though given the circumstances.
Bangladesh should prove tougher opposition next match.

Don't you just love it when people call others dummies, yet show their own true idiocy through lack of being able to spell correctly?

Heh it means cricket is on most days for a month which can only be a good thing, but why even bother letting in a lot of the countries. Just let in the test nations and then run a secondary competition and allow the winner of that in.
Once again, the same group of umpires can't get a basic regulation right. 3 of the 4 were involved in the farce of the final with the bad light were at it again on Saturday night.
The sooner Billy Bowden is sacked as an umpire of anything but the women's division 8 auckland league the better

Crap display aside nothing has changed in the long run regarding expectations for QF placings. A few weeks in NZ now to get their act together, decent enough talent there for England but needs better direction from above.

You might have that the wrong way round, seeing as England had already thrashed the Windies last week

Results in a friendly you take with a grain of salt. Actually, make it half the bag.

Exactly. Downward cricket spiral as their youngsters more & more prefer soccer-football.
