I don't think he should have done it regardless of what language it was in, I mean when Timmy scores I don't want him lifting his shirt and saying Gday Mum and DAD...It is just pointless, I mean call ya parents before and after the game, no need to be talking to them during via messages on T shirts.
After the game does Tomi communicate via T shirt message to his olds...I doubt it.
To me it isn't a race issue, its more im a pointless idiot making representing your country playing for the team and fans about my mum and dad and my personal messages.
I saw it, had no idea what it said, and these were my thoughts:
1) hope it's not a political statement or it'll get bad press and a FIFA backlash
2) hope it doesn't turn off the mainstream supporters we're trying to convert
3) hope the idiot doesn't get a yellow card
I wasn't offended, just felt it was completely unnecessary, and quickly forgot it.
I would have thought everyone would have forgotten it by now if this website hadn't made up some pretend public outrage to push it's own political agenda.

If he keeps scoring goals who cares. Honestly on the scale of things that matter this is minus 1000. If ange is ok with it then it's ok by me
I know we are all bored and want to say something about everything but cmon, talk about 1st world problems
You think it will turn potential supporters away. I think any supporter worth having will choose to focus on the fact that we may have a decent striker for the first time in years

I was outraged.
I was watching the game with 5 mates that had never watched a football match before. 4 of them were die hard AFL supporters, whilst the other was a cricket tragic.
They were absolutely loving the game up until the juric celebration. They were talking about getting season tickets to AU for next season, so much did they love what they saw.
Then juric scored.
You could cut the atmosphere in the room with a knife. Put it this way, they are no longer getting the seasons passes. I'd be surprised if they even watch another game.
People don't realize there are consequences to their actions

Wow I had an even worse experience I had a scientist friend over - he wasn't a big football fan but as the game progressed he became more and more impressed
He confided in me that he had just found a cure for cancer. He expected to raise over $16 billion dollars selling this cure around the world and due to the game he had decided to donate 80% of all proceeds that's 12.8 billion dollars to Football in this country
Then the Tom Juric outrage
He has decided to keep the cure for cancer to himself - mankind will not be saved and football misses out on almost $13 billion dollars
Your right people must realise that AFL supporters and scientists alike are very sensitive to these outrages

Sadly, stories like ours are all too common

I am truly amazed to see that people took a stupid childish message as equal to a racial slur. What is next -Cronulla style riots over something as insignificant as this.It really makes me Question about the intolerance of society.I have taken tourists to AFL games (who speak a few languages, but not English)to be told to FKN speak English or go back to where i came from. Not once did we consider not coming to another game because of it.Yes i was embarrassed & my friends were even scared as whole family's where there. For me people that find offence in such things (at least i think)were just looking for something to start them up in the first place.

Says the bloke whinging that AU are in disrepute.
Lol I used to wonder why people got annoyed at you but your pro au at all costs attitude is loveable but annoying. I'm just calling what I see. Just like I said we have played the best football ever. Gombau is the best thing that has happened to football in this state in years and I think we will win the final if we keep our team fit.
But I'm not going to forget certain things I've seen. And I can't totally ignore the things I hear. I can only hope that all the good things are true and the bad things are not, and everything turns out happily ever after like you think they will
Also I'd just like to say hi to my nonna and nonno

Correct predrag - rightly or wrongly, last year's ruling by the SOLE custodian of the Laws of the Game Board (IFAB) was that no political, religious or PERSONAL messages or slogans were to be displayed on undershirts.
This has got nothing to do with the PC Brigade. IMO this western Sydneysider hadn't made himself aware of this ruling. That's his problem & Team Management's problem. He should have been booked.

thats right con m. should this be taken to the IFAB for consideration? Are we, as supporters of the game, able to lodge an appeal to IFAB? surely something can be done.
I just feel so helpless.

Firstly, El Pasoff - go and get faarked. And why didn't you write your post in sarcastic blue?
For your info I'll repeat - IFAB decided a blanket ban on ALL religious, political & personal slogans/messages on undershirts. Is there a part of that ruling that doesn't sink in for you? It obviously didn't sink in with Australian-born Juric, who has left mainstream Aussies non-plussed with his dopey action.
There's no appeal. You can only go through your Association and convince them to go through their Confederation (the AFC) to recommend to IFAB to amend or change their ruling.
Now, as I said - go and get faarked if you can't accept the order of things and laws/rules.
So Con M, seeing the Laws of the Game Board IFBI have a ruling that no political, religious or PERSONAL messages or slogans are allowed to be displayed on shirts, has the Juric case has been taken to the FIFA High Commission in Switzerland ?
And all the players that this week had slogans under their shirts in respect to the passing of the young Wolfsburg player, all made 'dopey actions' ?

I think you mean the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Socca. I doubt they would bother with a nonentity like Juric and any yellow card he deserved. Look, Mummy & Daddy & Bro, I scored a goal - was an absurd thing to display in a language that the majority of the mainstream population (in our country where he was born) didn't understand.
As for any tragedy like a player's death, that's an awkward one. Isn't it best to honour with black armbands, with stadium flags lowered, to maybe grieve in private? Look how on and on the public showing of grief went for the Aussie cricketer. Shouldn't the Aussie players have grieved sooner in private? But that's another matter.
I agree with this blanket banning of all slogans/messages on undershirts.
You and others keep going on about these non-offensive slogans (only if youre are offended that it was in another language), yet no one who thinks they are half intelligent is saying anything about Hezbollah flags being displayed at a game
OK,now the party of god flag down under is truly taking this topic to another level. The problem with it is that our average citizen could have a neighbor put it on their car ,and we would not know what it is?Thanks for bringing this to our attention, maybe the federal police can look into it, i hope it was a tourist not a local displaying it!
