Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
Hopefully we'll have more first choice defenders fit then. Williams and Good would have been a welcome addition.
It also depends on what comes of the players that have impressed (eg Leckie, Davidson, Ryan)

Hopefully no issues with players being released.
Wilkinson is average, Bresciano will be out.

Kruse of course. I would like to see a player like brattan or maybe mooy get a chance. Juric too if he's in form. Im looking forward to seeing us play some good football
I don't think holland, vidosic, Wilkinson, McKay will make it

I felt McKay was one of our best v Spain. Very composed on the ball.BruceLee wrote:Kruse of course. I would like to see a player like brattan or maybe mooy get a chance. Juric too if he's in form. Im looking forward to seeing us play some good football

It really adds another element to the coming HAL season. Loads of players are in the mix to make the squad.
IMO some of the ones to watch are: Brattan, Mooy, Malik, Juric, Duke, David Williams, Birra, Vukovic, Rostyn Griffiths, Nichols, Antonis, Burns and Boogs.
Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
I agree he was good. He will probably pick him. I'm all for moving on though unless it's a bresh/Cahill.Stuckey wrote:I felt McKay was one of our best v Spain. Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
I felt Bozanic was very good for us in the middle as well especially when he came on against The Netherlands. He should be persevered with as Bresc's replacement. But Bresc still has a spot in the squad for sure.BruceLee wrote:I agree he was good. He will probably pick him. Speaking of Asian cup
Has there been any announcement on dates and where the teams will be based?
I have a work colleague from japan coming down to watch this and naturally wants to see Japan and socceroos games

No way would he ever consider supporting anyone else other than Australia.

Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
Ok, time to get the green and gold clobber out of the wardrobe.
Whilst not confident (couldnt pick a quinella in a two horse race lately), I think Australia will win it, BUT it will be shaky at times.
Expect Iran to be thereabouts this time.

Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
Given that South Korea arguably have the best player in Asia at the moment, I would have to put them around the mark.
Japan and Iran to also figure strongly.
I just don't have confidence in the Socceroo's ability to get results when they matter, we seem more intent to find excuses for not winning than winning in recent times.

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. That's why I succeed." -Michael Jordan

You can 'lose with honour', in the World Cup against, Holland, Chile and Spain, but any loss in the Asian Cup is a bad lossBlack_Panther wrote:Given that South Korea arguably have the best player in Asia at the moment, I would have to put them around the mark.

Need to win our first 2, if we go up against Korea needing a win or even a draw, we could be out in the first round
Are you Bodo in disguise?
Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
Australias record on home soil is great and with the home crowd i think we can go all the way to the final...
Im predicting a Australia v Japan/Iran final. hoping its iran.
aust/korea
uzbek/china
iran/UAE
Japan/Iraq
all to get out for the group stage.

Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
I wonder what will happen if they (Australia) "play a great style" but lose (again). I sure as hell hope they can do both (win and with style), but seriously, results must matter first and foremost this time.

Re: ASIAN CUP 2015
Would be great to see Australia beat Iran in the Final in front of 80,000 in Sydney.
Great history of meetings with the old enemy. We knocked them out from getting to the 1974 World Cup. They did the same to us along the way to qualifying for the 1978 World Cup. And the 1998 World Cup with that fateful night at the MCG.
