I dont think it will be easy for us and neither does the club. We know that every game we play the opposition will take it as a cup final so it will be hard. Im not even going to comment anymore on the topic of paying players I have said that we dont if you guys still think we do then you are missing out, come to the club and ask the coach that you want to play for us and see how much he offers you.
As for the comment of West beach having the best strikers who are they and where have they played and how many goals did they score last year?
As for your scotch we dont drink anything younger than 12 year old scotch
I havent been afraid to post our squad and team but the rest of the div is reluctant to say who plays for them? Maybe I was just to honest and naive to tell ya who is playing for us.
Cant wait for the season to start and see the boys play the Knights and hopefully get up for a win.
Nobody said that west Beach had the best strikers, just said that they were good, so get over it.... We know the quality that Pontians has got up front so, you can chill out, we can safely say that you have the best strikers
Is "Prince of Wales" or "Highlander" scotch aged more than 12 years?

Red ones..good stuff! I will get them in plus some straws.Don't want your guys messing up their lipstick!
I was joking...I hope no one would mix anything with 12 yo scotch.
12 yo scotch is a bit expensive these days, you must be getting well paid at pontians to afford that

AbsolutePants wrote:I agree with Xplosive. I have had experience with both Vista and Gully at both junior and senior level, and whilst I'm not the most technically-gifted player ever to take the field, what I have learned has come from Gully, at both levels.
I would only be recognised at Vista by people I knew from outside the club or by the players from the grade I played in, because that's the way the club appears to run.
Contrast this with Gully, where any given player (or coach) will more than likely know the name of, and a little about, any other player they see on the track.
I love the way Gully is run, and it's no wonder there's so many players out this season because everyone is welcomed and given the chance to prove their worth.
And Carra23, you should think about what you're saying, even in jest. Amateur league has players who may move to a closer or different club in any given season because of family, work, just for a change, or for any other reason, and you could well be driving away the future A graders of Modbury Vista.
As an ex coach of vista(5 years) and a senior member for 15 years, there hasn't been many players leave the club due to being unhappy there, not all people will get on either with other players or coaching staff, that's life, but overall i'd say that those who have deserved a crack playing A grade have had a crack. Some have had more chances than other's!!!!.some have been allowed to return to the club after not playing a brass monkeys in fees, and given a second chance.Vista has produced good results over the last 3 years and proved their arround the mark at the top end of the table, not too shabby for a club that is meant to be a bad club to be involved with. the end.

I have no issue with that, I was just sharing my experience of both clubs, and trying to point out that everyone has their reasons for changing clubs. For me, it was the club atmosphere and the fact that I had good experiences with training at Gully previously.BULLDOG wrote: As an ex coach of vista(5 years) and a senior member for 15 years, there hasn't been many players leave the club due to being unhappy there, not all people will get on either with other players or coaching staff, that's life, but overall i'd say that those who have deserved a crack playing A grade have had a crack. Some have had more chances than other's!!!!.some have been allowed to return to the club after not playing a brass monkeys in fees, and given a second chance.Vista has produced good results over the last 3 years and proved their arround the mark at the top end of the table, not too shabby for a club that is meant to be a bad club to be involved with. the end.
I also think it's unfair to have a go at players who leave the club for whatever reason.

The club sells good quality scotch but not at the prices that you may think. Gee maybe this is a perk that all guys are whinging about!!! Do you host us first? I cant recall but either way I will make sure we come in for a drink, in what I have heard is the updated state of the art clubrooms, win lose or draw!

Fair points mate, but just to clarify.............AbsolutePants wrote: And Carra23, you should think about what you're saying, even in jest. The future A graders are the dozen or so young lads who have turned up this season and not missed a training session telling their mates to come because they enjoy it and feel like they are bieng given their chance.........if you watched any of our pre season games you will have seen that was the case, I didnt come on here to defend our strategy after people have been slaying our results because I dont care what they think about what we have been doing nor do I worry about their views/opinions.
I realise people move because of different reasons, Avenell was one of those.........the other two who have left were both welcomed with open arms and chose of their own free will to leave, one because he didnt like the fitness training and he was honest about it, he did only turn up 3 times but that is neither here nor there and the other for his own reasons, we spoke about it, shook hands and he left, no harm done.
We are currently a club who are looking to the future, new rules, new training, each and everyone of the squad has to prove their worth to start each sunday.........no favouritism.......old heads along with young lads.
I'm more than happy with the way things are going.
Everyone is welcome here, players, managers, teams, fans, doubters.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil!

True to a point mateAbsolutePants wrote: No matter what club you're at or how good you are as a player, good coaching at a young age can have a significant impact on the way you play the game throughout your life.
but you need the right attitude too.

It has been good reading all the banter going on in this topic and have loved reading about all the EX VISTA players who have gone elsewhere. Thought id give my opinion on this one. Ive been at Vista since i was 5 years old and this is my 13th year at the club... For years and years vista had not been an overly family orientated club and was very much a club that just wanted to play soccer. up untill last year and the year before this was the case...
over the last 24 months there have been many drastic changes. with and increased link between the seniors and juniors through both club nights and also juniors asked to come watch and join in on senior trainings. The club is better advertised and now both the pitch, club rooms and even the car park are looking the part this year! all i can hope is that our football skills and team effort can match the upcoming of the club. But as i have said right from the start we will let the results do the talking... and it starts SUNDAY - Bring it on!!!!

yes they should of beaten you by 8. Watched a few downs games last year and trust me, they didnt over exert themselves in that game. they did what they had to and still won it comfortably. i am really looking forward to playing you guysGolden EAGLE wrote:If the score should of been 8-0 I must off played a blinda! Agreed add to that 2 players (at least) from today having at least a 2 match suspension a very average reserve side its far from the 15 point win some suggestedSAOPAOLO 10 wrote:Pontians are a great team on paper but they have to play a final every week and as history shows you got to run your muscat off as well as have skill to win a league. Yeap we will be an average side! I dont think you can judge a season on one game or how deep the side can go. We have a strong first 11 out there today but were missing at least 6 reserve players, we were lucky the C's didnt have a game.Knight7 wrote:Agreed add to that 2 players (at least) from today having at least a 2 match suspension a very average reserve side its far from the 15 point win some suggestedSAOPAOLO 10 wrote:Pontians are a great team on paper but they have to play a final every week and as history shows you got to run your muscat off as well as have skill to win a league.
