Zola: Ronaldo Not As Intelligent As Totti

Post by Piola »

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has waded into the debate over Francesco Totti and Cristiano Ronaldo.

There have been a lot of comparisons drawn between the two in the wake of their teams' quarter-final clash, with opinion firmly divided. Zola - a former Chelsea man - has chosen to side with compatriot Francesco Totti.

"If you could mix the characteristics of the two, then you would come up with the ideal player," began Zola, speaking to Il Romanista.

"But the Portuguese international does not have the tactical intelligence and vision of Francesco.

"Besides, he is still in his first real year of confirming his qualities.

"For me Ronaldo remains a man who belongs on the flank and has great potential, but he does not possess Francesco's instinct for goal."

He also called for respect to be showen towards Roma, who has impressed against Lyon and Manchester United already.
"Everyone must respect Roma," continued Zola, who is now working with the Italian Under-21 squad.

"They proved that this team can play on a par with any side in the world. Sir Alex Ferguson certainly did not expect to find Roma so strong and on form, so he was surprised."

they are both great players but i think my highlighted section is wrong on behalf of zola if he didnt have a goal instinct like totti why has he scored as many goals as him this year

Both are class players and currently I think Ronaldo is better. Totti has the experience and the brain to give any team nightmares. Just have to wait for the next time they play against each other.
Form is Temporary Class is Permanent

Ronaldo doesnt quite have the same intelligence and range of passing, but is in some form at th moment and is only 21 - will become one of the greats.

And would have had 6 more goals to his tally if he knew how to put a penalty away this season.

If Totti was smart he would return to the national team while he's in form.

not that ronaldo is better the totti

CHRISTIANO RONALDO IS NOT WORTH MENTIONING. TOTTI IS BETTER THAN HE IS. BUT IMO CHRISTIANO.R should NOT BE REFFERED TO AS RONALDO.

Ronaldo is small team.
His footskills dazzle average defenders in the premiership but against quality opposition he is shut down.

evidence::

- ZERO goals in the CL prior to last nights shambolic defence
- 1 goal in World Cup (from penalty spot!)
- 2 goals in euro04
- ZERO goals in 4 seasons vs Arsenal
- ZERO goals in 4 seasons vs Chelsea
- ZERO goals in 4 seasons vs Liverpool.
