Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
Yeah true every week is big because you start winning or losing a championship from
Round 1 but this week judgeing on ladder position and games won and lost this weekend takes on a bit more interest...
The 2 apparent best teams playing each other
Oth and southern breakers needing points to kick start what looks like being a survival battle..
Flinders haven't won yet and would probly be coming out extremely hungry against us...
Gleeson will surely need to start making a move talented squad that should be up their.
pumas would really want to stop their slide from the great start they had...
And Stirling, hawks, s.villa would surely want some daylight between them and the bottom 5 if they win

Tips for the week
Breakers vs OTH - Breakers at home so hard to beat, think they will bounce back.
Gleeson vs S Villa - think Gleeson at home can snatch a draw against a good S Villa team.
Pumas vs Stirling - two good teams will cancel each other out I think
A Villa vs Cougars - will be there watching the Cougars hopefully get something out of this game.
Hawks vs Flinders - think Flinders can get a win, don't think Hawks are much this year

After seeing the 3 top sides play this year so far, would have to say that they are all pretty even over the park. I think Salisbury Villa is the team to beat this year followed closely by the other two. Should make for an exciting couple of games as Adelaide Villa play the other two in the up coming weeks. If we (Cougars) could get the majority of our team on the park, I think we can match it with them.

Plenty of matches to play yet, including your catch up game.
Hopefully Stirling will still be in the mix come the business end of the season.

Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
I agree to a certain extent HTP, but we have a larger problem than injury prone players in our squad. There are particular players that are harming our squad with poor negative attitudes and very poor work ethic when the team is under the pump. If these guys are shown the door, our team performances will improve, the attitude with in the team will improve and injured players will be more keen to get on the park and win their positions... We will be lucky to finish mid table the way we are looking. It's also very hard to carry players so prone to injury and for our coach to have a settled squad.Hit the post wrote:After seeing the 3 top sides play this year so far, would have to say that they are all pretty even over the park. Think this might get sorted out in the next week or two at training mate. Probably a bad time to tell the coach the hammy is still no good and I will be missing again this Week after your post

i would say that the cougars best 11, would have the best group of indivual players...however has not formed into a team yet. we are too unselttled with this injury list, which honestly is unheard of. I cant think of a team who has 70% of its first choice players out at once. We had B's players paying A's on Saturday who had already played a full game. There score is not indicative of what the future can bring. However it is what it is.... and 6-2 is a tough pill to swallow...congrats to villa.
Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
Goes to show why it's important reserve players are trained properly and bled into the first team as regularly as possible throughout a season, even when the A's 11 is fully fit. You never know when injuries like this can hit, but it's not as uncommon as one would think. It's equally important for reserve players to take the reserve league and their roles seriously, because they never know when they'll have to make the leap up.
Cougars will bounce back, but what is a notoriously close league, unfortunately for them, come season's end goal difference could make all the difference. That's why in this case maybe parking the bus to stop the bleeding would have been a better tactic given their circumstances.

Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
You're just seeing a fit Villa this season. The hungers always been there.
We were in the same boat as Cougars last year with injuries, particularly with all 4 or 5 strikers out for the whole season, and rarely having a fully fit defence and midfield, with many playing through injuries for the majority of the season. We never really had the depth in the reserves either, which makes all the difference. Teams like Stirling and Jets have strong reserves sides, which mean they've always been able to cope with injuries much better. Stirling's reserves side in particular, could have easily passed as their A's side last season. Best team I played against.
This season the results, and especially the goals we're scoring, shows the difference a fit squad can make. Touch wood our fitness and form continues.

I will ask the question, why so many soft tissue injuries? Could it be a lack of fitness/conditioning, to be honest guys both your C and B teams ran out of steam by half time and your A's looked done just after. Thats 40 odd players that looked way under done to me.

Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
I wasn't there for the B and C game but in the A game it was 3-2 with about 15 to go before a Cougars player got sent off, and then we dropped our bundle. Don't think the team was that off the pace. Most the boys out besides myself are relatively fit and over the next few weeks boys will be coming back and strengthening the squad. This week however could be our weakest side yet.Jack Mehorf wrote:I will ask the question, why so many soft tissue injuries? Just wanted to say a big thank you to the cougar boys for their hospitality after the game on Saturday would have to say the best BBQ in the league...and sorry more of us didn't hang back...was good to catch up With Cheney and couple of the others...good luck for the coming round and hope you guys can get back up in the comig weeks before the league gets away form yas and keep it tight!!
Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
Is Gleeson losing to breakers the correct score? Cos I've noticed that the league has stuffed up a few scores this round...
Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
I know I said it in another thread as a joke, but in all seriousness Gleeson admin only post results if they win historically, so I'd assume the result is correct.n8 wrote:Is Gleeson losing to breakers the correct score? Cos I've noticed that the league has stuffed up a few scores this round...
I tipped Gleeson to be one of the big improvers this season, but it seems I was wrong again. Wonder if they have injury issues like Cougars?
Seems Adel Villa's recruiting drive has paid off so far, so looking forward to the derby next weekend. S. Villa will be hungry for the win to stay in touch, whereas A. Villa have a big chance to breakaway at the top.

Yeah i know it's early to say but realy it's going to be about who's going to finish second...in my eyes I can't see anyone gettin close to a.villa...but that could change, I haven't seen Stirling or s.villa yet...
So looking forward to those 2 after downs this weekend :?

Cougars will be getting most their team back from injury over the next couple of weeks. Results will Definetely be on the improve one would think. top 2 still very much on the cards with the squad we got.
Re: SATURDAY DIVISION 2 2014
It's gone a bit quiet on here of late! Half way point...anyone want to get the ball rolling with predictions discussions etc....
Id say it's going to be hard to catch a.villa at this stage unless they really slip! And second spot...isn't that battle going to be interesting...we where abit dissapointed not To be siting clear second after last weeks result but that's football...still even too early to call relegation as the bottom 4 are all very well capable of taking points off anyone!!
Also how's your pitches going to hold up in this weather for this weekend?? In particular breakers...haha
