Quality CB's required at Liverpool for next season.Kim Kallstrom wrote:2nd Palace goal he was sauntering back from the set piece, their 3rd he was horribly indecisive. Re: Will Liverpool win this season's league title
Personnel not the problem.
Skrtel and Sahko are good enough.
Finding the balance between gung-ho attack and sit-kill tempo mode is what's required.
Teams that win stuff can gear up and gear down to suit.
Liverpool can only go really defensive, first 3 weeks of the season. Or really attacking, the remaining 34 weeks.
If you constantly over commit going forward, even if you had the world's best centre backs, will still be burnt from time to time.

West Ham, Hull and Palace are 3 teams that have conceded less goals than Liverpool.maxin in the shade wrote:Clearly theyre notThe Kop wrote:Personnel not the problem.

Is that because Reid, Tomkins, Chester, Davies, Dann and Delaney are much better players than the captain of an International side and a starter for the French NT, or because the system they play in doesn’t over-expose them and suits defenders?

Liverpool's problem is Brendan's ego IMO, at 3-0 up, every other good manager would be pragmatic and shut down the game. The Kop wrote:West Ham, Hull and Palace are 3 teams that have conceded less goals than Liverpool.maxin in the shade wrote:Clearly theyre notThe Kop wrote:Personnel not the problem.

+1 they are not. Too reckless and like I mentioned earlier about Skrtel's positioning. All well and good if he can score half a dozen goals a year, but his primary task is to defend.maxin in the shade wrote:Clearly theyre notThe Kop wrote:Personnel not the problem.

I reckon you could put up a case for Reid, Tomkins & Dann being better than them to be honest. The Kop wrote:West Ham, Hull and Palace are 3 teams that have conceded less goals than Liverpool.maxin in the shade wrote:Clearly theyre notThe Kop wrote:Personnel not the problem.

Conversely you could also say that Sturridge and Suarez are not the clear cut best strikers in the league people like to think, that they only scored so many goals because the system they play is heavily suited to strikers. They can tend to go missing in the big games, one goal between them against fellow top 4 sides.

Reid is very decent, think he'll get picked up by a bigger club next season.
But hand on heart would anyone swap any of the top 4 partnerships for Skrtel-Sakho, why? Cos it wouldn't make a difference.
For example, Terry looks great when Jose parks him on his 6 yard box. Could he be better than what Liverpool have playing the current style, no bloody way.
Don't see why they're copping all the flack anyway, some blame for the 3rd goal. Otherwise a deflection and counter attack of a corner were goals 1 and 2.

Rogers should do himself a favour and ring Moyes for advice....

Pretty safe to assume you've watched fuck all of Liverpool this season then. Skrtel has been by far our best defender, & probably strongly in contention for team of the year.Kim Kallstrom wrote:+1 they are not. Re: Will Liverpool win this season's league title
The authority of Terry combined with the pace of either or both Garry Cahill & David Liuz would work better though don't you think ? Terry stronger & smarter than Skrtel plus Cahill and Luiz better than Sakho. The hard bit for Rodgers is going to be finding the right fit for next year, unless he already has.The Kop wrote:Reid is very decent, think he'll get picked up by a bigger club next season.

It would be kind of amusing if the Liverpool reject Carroll was to score the winner on the final day.The Kop wrote:I respect the right to - bad - "banter" but seriously log off for about 6 months if City lose one of the next 2.....nah really....

I pity you lot trying to argue with logic against Liverpool fans. When it comes to their club they are so one eyed they cannot see reason or accept any constructive criticism. Rogers has made improvements but is still naive tactically. The defence is just not up to standard - attackers can win you games but it is defences that win you a league.

Re: Will Liverpool win this season's league title
I disagree. Look at Chelsea who base their game on defence. They couldn't win the league! You need to find a mix. Rodgers is a young coach and will definitely learn from this season. I'll be as devastated as any pool fan if we don't win the league but I can also look on the bright side. A few seasons ago, we had woy as coach and were on the verge of administration and this season we are competing for the season on the last day of the league. We may win and we may not but I am confident we will grow. This season will make Liverpool a closer, stronger club and next season, we will go again.Fact Hunt wrote:I pity you lot trying to argue with logic against Liverpool fans. Re: Will Liverpool win this season's league title
All you guys who don't support LFC cant see that fact that we were 3-0 up, cruising and the possibility of getting 5 or 6-0 was a real possibility? Come on!
I completely agree we should have shut the game down at 3-1 and hope to nick another one. For that I understand the fact people are slamming BR, but at least we went for it. And its only a slim chance, but we're still not out of it.
Goal difference was a huge factor in the game and we went for it. Who wouldnt??? Man City are unlikely to slip up in the last 2 games at home and we needed goals......

Re: Will Liverpool win this season's league title
Yep I totally agree! We were carving palace up and looked most likely to score next. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. It would have been pointless to settle for a 3-0 win and have city beat us on goal difference.East Boy wrote:All you guys who don't support LFC cant see that fact that we were 3-0 up, cruising and the possibility of getting 5 or 6-0 was a real possibility? I believe Arsenal have improved more than the Poo! (we only finished 5 pts behind you)
- We have spent longer at the top of the league this year than the Poo (& all clubs tbh)
- Poo were lucky, due to your lack of invovlment in other competitions, that you managed to keep a very fresh squad at the right time of the season to gather up steam for the run in.
- Arsenal on the other hand, due to the number of games played, lost key players in Ramsey, Walcott, Ozil, Jack, Koscielny & the Ox during the run in hence why our challenge faded away. Take Suarez, Courtino, Sturridge, Sterling & Skrtel out at once during the run in & were do you think you would be sitting..??
I know you Poo fans are not going to agree, but stats dont lie
I'm happy to put $100 out there with you BTAC that we will win a league in the near future before the Poo will

FFS sake Liverpool go from 7th to 2nd easily thump Arsenal 5-1 and there’s still an ounce of nerve to post this.
If this was a pisstake we’ll need some more blue text for daft f*ckers like me.
If not, long may the bitterness continue!
