Outstanding Junior Players - U14s
I am amazed at the talent of the u14s in the JPL - a lot of these players are not even in the State Development system and you wonder why?
Some stand outs are
ABE - No. 6 , No. 14
Modbury - virtually the whole team! Outstanding goalie for Modbury
Can others mention others in the U14 Comp.

yeah agreed, would be good to see where they all end up in a few years.corona wrote:there are alot of good players , but there is only a certain number of spots in the developement squad . but if these players keep the hard work up they may one day play seniors or even overseas . good luck to all the u14 boys .

Nice comments guys but which 'keeper r u referring too ?
I hear that in the Jet's first two games they were without their normal 'keeper who has been really crook
they had to use another 'keeper to fill in.
Agree about the 2 ABE players too.
Rekon Jet's Knights and City will be 1-2-3 as per last year, no comment on what order though. City have already beaten the knights this year and the jet's were the only team to beat para hill last year i believe, but para r a top outfit and are more akin to marathon runners, not sprinters
As for where these players end up, a true coach will measure his teams success over a period of 3-4 years when he see's his protege's playing in the first team aged 16- 17; that's when he raises his glass and say's "well done son, i knew you had it in you!"

Heard that the Jets keeper is good...
anyone have Info on the Knights U14s! they tend to have produced many good young players over the years who have played for their junior teams?

Look at you sc1
Seen your shadow for ages, may even recognise you in the flesh one day to
True all players mature at different ages, i prefer to let them get the recognition by hard work and not by who they know or $'s they have.
It is a pity there are no easier ways of making these steps, just makes you think how many players just drop off the playing field . . . like you did in 19..
As for the age bit i'll take you on for a game of table soccer if your up for it, that's as fast as my tent pegs will carry me !

Re: Outstanding Junior Players - U14s
I dont think anyone is taking this years u14's seriously, alot of boys have dropped out, the coach is not much cop, and it seems to be more of a 'buy your spot' thing, and pay his wages. alot of good lads werent even looked at, and some very ordinary playres are in the squad. if the u13's coach (elv) was in charge of 14's, I am sure it would improve 10 fold, but as it stands, it is almost embarrassing for SA.Arturo wrote:I am amazed at the talent of the u14s in the JPL - a lot of these players are not even in the State Development system and you wonder why?

I agree with Barney about the top three, jets, knights & city, but we will give them a run too, maybe a very close fourth, and birkalla look better this year, but i think will still strugle in defense again.

just a reply to that reply posted on Sat Apr 07, 2007 i was just wondering what team you were talking about beacuse if you were talking about the abe u 14's i would be have different views on it as u do slightly. i Have always kept an eye on this team since the u11's and i rekon that you shouldent be too harsh on this team they have had a few unlucky things happen to them and some of thier players are out to injury last season they had "times of brilliance" and finished the season strong the current coach they are under is a really good coach who has coached soccer for a long time he coached the team in u11's as weel at the start of the season they werent doin to well towards the end of the season they started gelling as one it will only take time how long i dnt no but if abe are in the a's next year with the same coach i'd look out 4 em. at the moment to stay in the a's looks an unlikely sight from you may think but i rekon if they get it together soon it wont look unlikely.

Here are the facts guys,
Knights u 14's
1 Player quit football to play ozzy rules
1 player went to knights 17's
1 player went to knights 15's
1 player went to jets u 16's
1 player went to play in the 14 b's
the new players are
1 from munno para
1 from E & D
3 from the 14 b's
Defensively they are not as strong as last years team, but still a very good side.

I was refering to the u14 stade dev squad, it needs to be coached correctly and to be made up of the right boys. I will admit that there are half a dozen great players in there, but the majority are very ordinary and very soft.
Wow !
Soft eh ?
bit of a hard call if they playing as they are being tought, waddya want a team of Vinnie Jones's ?
fair call Barney,
I appologise to the boys in the squad for my comment.
as you have pointed out, if the boys are doing as asked, we should praise them for following the coach's instruction.
I just think a decent coach should be running a state development squad, someone with some sort of idea. I have actually heard that one of the assistant coaches is quite good ( melling ), but he too must follow instrucions from the main coach I guess.

in my opinion, a soft player is one who wont attack the ball, wont go in with a physical tackle and try to get the ball, but will sit on the outer and wait to see if the ball comes out his way. one who wont chase a ball down, and wont use his body as a barrier between ball and opposition, wont use his body as a shield where neccessary.
alot of the players I have seen tend to avoid the physical side of the game and even cringe out of the way of a hard ball or body contact.
whatever happened to good old "attacking football" why is it going to a pass back, keep possession avoid agression style?
