Otherwise if they can not meet Saturdays criteria. It will go down as a forfeit for them for not commiting to Saturdays.

Re: Adelaide uni Friday night games
Uni obviously know that they would most likely have there full team available every Friday night, otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't have proposed to play Friday nights. While at the same time also knowing other clubs may struggle to field there best side possible.

Re: Adelaide uni Friday night games
This is a non-issue for us.
Uni and the Wanderers have negotiated a change to the draft - happy days!
No reason why other clubs couldn't do the same. Uni were very flexible. Look forward to playing Friday night and hosting the return leg.
All the best to Uni this year, except for when you play us!

Perhaps have a read of the whole topic discussion and you will understand the issue.
If it wasn't a Friday night, what night do you propose?
These are the types of clubs that make the league go around successfullyFresh Football wrote:This is a non-issue for us.

it's that simple really. Just think, if uni had actually consulted with the clubs affected then this would be a non issue.Jim's Alteregos wrote:Saturday afternoonflashBLACK wrote:If it wasn't a Friday night, what night do you propose?

It's been done get over it. Surely one night away from better homes and gardens won't hurt.

I think we should have just gone with Saturday afternoons as well.God is an Englishman wrote:it's that simple really. Would give us a competitive advantage with the opposition having to walk for 10-15 mins to get to the ground from where they parked.
I don't know why we try to be so considerate to the opposition.

Being considerate would have been consulting with other clubs. You joined the Saturday league.

Just because hawkesy looks like one, it doesn't mean he is one. He is a very sensible, humble and compassionate man who feels it necessary to highlight the benefits of actions in the local league.bench-warmer wrote:FFS. I thought this thread was dead. An English John Dedes if you will.

Ahahahahahahah, it's a university team, we struggle just as much if not more than most team with numbers come winter/exam/uni holiday time. The Budapestian wrote:Uni obviously know that they would most likely have there full team available every Friday night, otherwise I'm sure they wouldn't have proposed to play Friday nights. Sure you do...... Sounds like a conspiracy to me. Maybe you moved it to Friday night to give your players all day saturday to study or allow them to get on the piss on a friday night after the game!
Re: Adelaide uni Friday night games
Interesting to see that the Adelaide Uni SAAFL game last night was cancelled due to the lights failing last night ...The game will be played today
Re: Adelaide uni Friday night games
Who would have thought that friday night shopping in the city be busy...looks like all games to be moved to thursday night
Re: Adelaide uni Friday night games
You probably wouldn't park near the Zoo if you were going shopping.

I arrived 1&1/2 hours before kick off, and parking was limited to a couple of parks

I too, like the walk from the zoo to rundle mall. It clears the mind body and soul. Friday night games are a good change but I agree with GIAE. Regardless if the clubs were given sufficient notice, they signed up for a Saturday league so if the club can't or doesn't want to make the Friday night fixture then uni should have to play the Saturday or forfeit

Had 4 guys who weren't able to turn up until 30 mins before due to work commitments.
It's not like they have a bar or food for revenue. Just play your games away. Easy.
Re: Adelaide uni Friday night games
It happens that I agree with GIAE. (Oh, I feel so dirty.) If a club doesn't agree to the Friday night it should revert back to the Saturday.
Uni should have stayed on Saturdays anyway and made some arrangement with the Uni to allocate an area to park their teams cars on Uni grounds without paying. Visiting teams should just have had to make do with wherever they can park and walk a couple of miles.

From observations: you do all you can to make other teams' lives easy, and this is the response you get...
You're still a shit troll, GIAE.

Here's a tip: the university has no control over parking. Adelaide City Council do.otto62 wrote:It happens that I agree with GIAE. (Oh, I feel so dirty.) If a club doesn't agree to the Friday night it should revert back to the Saturday.

IF they'd consulted the other clubs then you'd make a fantastic point.

I think someone above said it was talked about at the SAASL AGM, maybe that was the consultation.God is an Englishman wrote:Chade wrote:From observations: you do all you can to make other teams' lives easy, and this is the response you get...

When it came up in that forum did the Modbury representative raise any objections?

You don't think Hawkesy would go off like this and make himself look like an ass do you??

The first anyone from Modbury was aware of this happening was when the fixtures came out. If it had been raised before then, I assume it was on the draft fixtures as well? I haven't seen the draft fixtures but I am informed that they were not.
When was the AGM anyway? Was that meeting a couple of weeks ago (if so that was the first anyone was aware of it)
