Actual football
So I thought I'd start a thread to discuss the football actually being played rather than surveys, kitchens in the UK (:P), etc...there has been one comment on actual games all week
There are more threads in pre-season than the season proper!
Who has been out to watch games? What do you think of the teams you have seen so far?
I watched Uni v Cumby in the Prems and U17 and thought all games were of a good quality. It's pleasing to see Cumby rebound as a club results-wise (being an established club). It's also pleasing to see the new wave of youth at Uni put in a good show, especially in the ressies.
Also a good start to the campaign for Westies in their new incarnation.

Re: Actual football
Cumberland have always been traditionally strong in the younger age groups and hopefully this will pay dividends over the coming few seasons.
The Uni / CUWFC reserves game was an exciting game ( what 4 all draw isnt ? ) and both sides had very young squads. Not being involved with Uni and only speaking as a Cumberland supporter, I'm looking forward to a season of development and improvement with the reserves team. Some long standing juniors are pushing for places in the prems squad and that can only be a good thing. With the return of a few experienced older players, the younger girls have a great opportunity to learn and improve.
The Prems game was a tight affair with Cumberlands side a mixture of the younger squad from last year and some old returned faces and new players. As a squad, I know theyve worked harder in this pre season as they have in the past and the game against a very young Uni side was a real arm wrestle. An excellent longe range strike saw Cumberland take the lead and after equalising mid way through the second half Uni could have gone ahead as they put Cumberland under alot of pressure at the back. Was good to see the back 4 stand tall and hold out a fast finishing Uni side. In the end, it took another good finish from distance to give Cumberland all three points and a long overdue win.

Was a great game, sturt looked great. Hats off to the uni reserve side, was a great win for them. They play really good football especially for such a young side!Playthewhistle wrote:Good result for Sturt last night with 3-0 win in the Prems over Uni! Anyone see the game?

Did watch the prems game Sturt and Uni, Sturt looked great passed the ball beautifully had total control of the game . Uni struggled from the whistle didn't create much. JM nearly scored a beauty of a free kick for Uni, a good game but Sturt dominated start to finish

Was a good strike by J.M. but equally good save by the Sturt Keeper Elise F pushing the high ball into the cross bar and away.gunners01 wrote:Did watch the prems game Sturt and Uni, Sturt looked great passed the ball beautifully had total control of the game . Top effort by the Sturt team

Re: Actual football
As I was unable to get to any of the games today, does anyone have any feedback regarding games that they watched? What was the score of the West Adelaide game?

I saw west Adelaide v Fulham, score was 7-1 to westies. Would have been tough as there as it was a hot day. Mj hit the post with a cracker of a free kick but as the score suggests west Adelaide had control of the game and deserved the win that has now put them top of the table.juniorsupporter wrote:As I was unable to get to any of the games today, does anyone have any feedback regarding games that they watched?
