Great strike and the early goal was exactly what Spurs would have wanted to avoid. After that it was a pretty even game but Goons had the best of the few decent chances. No complaint about the result, but surely Sherwood is a dead man walking.
We should of put the game to bed in the first half Cyril with many a chance - Ox trying to chip Hugo
You guys should have equalised early in the 2nd half when Cheezer had his calamity moment, twice in 30 seconds!

Not a fan of his normally, but my word he stepped up this morning
Same same mate both awesome, Per just won so many headers as they played long searching balls into the area. Poor TV5, the guy isnt going to get another look in with the form of those two. It reminds me of the Sol Campbell & Kolo Toure partnership, just missing the trophies

Gritty defending in the end by Arsenal to hold on for a precious win to stay alive in the race.
Haven't seen Arsenal play with THREE central defenders for ages, which is what happened when Vermaelen came on.
And TWO defensive midfielders (Arteta, Flamini) in front of Mertesacker, Koscielny & Vermaelen made it a real fortress as Sherwood had really fired up Spurs to attack in that tense second half.
Might have got a second goal after Koscielny got pulled down by the Spurs defender holding him around the neck in the box, but the assistant ref on the far side was too gutless to signal for a penalty.

Watched the Arsenal Spuds game Monday morning so didn't get to watch liverpoo play the mid-table make-weights until last night. If you were a Liverpool fan which do you think would be the most embarrassing to be associated with, Suarez almost on his knees begging to get a fellow player sent off after getting a soft penalty or was it Sturridge blatantly cheating to get a fellow player sent off and earn a penalty while being 2-0 up. It's called aggressive football according to Rodgers
On a side note loved Sturridge’s jazz-hands hallelujah entrance onto the pitch, a certainty for pretentious w@nker of the year imo.

Soft penalty?
He fooking swatted the ball with his hand, of all the handball penalties given that was the most obv.

I thought it should have been a 2nd yellow, but Suarez shouldn't have been begging the ref to send him off.

Not saying it wasn't a penalty, his hand was out the ball hit it so penalty. But you got the penalty, no one was maimed, no reason to go waving imaginary cards and grassing someone up to the ref. Suarez himself scored from something similar last year I remember

On the contrary hardly trying, they make it easy. Top 4, the pressures on, has Rodgers got the bottle. Think I'll hit the jackpot before the seasons out.

What pressure?
We finished 7th last year? Top 4 is already over the top achievement when people had Everton and Spurs ahead of us...
Liverpool are the team with the least pressure in the title race. Underdog with nothing to lose already exceeded expectations.

Mindgames fail.
Missing Europe altogether last year has really done you a favour in this season. It's almost a penalty to finish 5th (and sometimes 6th).

Wonder if Sherwood is thinking along those lines

Ergh, here we go. How is it funny? We've been out of the CL for years. Going from 7th to top four/title challenge in a year is amazing progress. Are we supposed to not be happy with that?

On current form, I think there's more chance of Arsenal dropping out of the top 4 than Liverpool.

I'm pretty certain that Sherwood was only ever a caretaker in Levy's eyes and, even if he'd won the Europa League, he'd still be gone at season's end. He's about as tactically adept as Valkanis.

One would think that with the fixture run, the top 4 is now relatively done yeah? Would take some turn in fortune for any side in there already with spurs etc playing the way they are at the moment..
i hope us arsenal and liverpool fans get what we both want. liverpool fans, back in the CL fighting to win it. arsenal fans, finishing third or fourth and progressing through the group stage before an ~admirable~ loss.

shouldn't you have those expectations every year? as being part of the traditional Big 4.
