Old Boys Div9 2014
As we gear up for another few months of shenanigans, to kick it all off and ease into it, on Sunday 9th March, MJAFC will be hosting a light hearted social 5 a side tournament for o35s only using the inflatable pitches used for our annual Phoenix Cup tournament.
The format and structure will be determined by the amount of responses received. I will be contacting various clubs through different means but thought this is a good place to start.
There will be an entry fee of $50 per team, in order to cover the cost of the pitch hire, and various avenues are being pursued to organise a prize of some sort. Full bar and barbecue will be provided.
Anybody interested in putting a team in, please pm me here.

Re: Old Boys Div9 2014
The 5 a side comp is slowly coming together, a possible list of teams so far looking like:
Old Jets
Really Old Jets
Westies
Whyalla
Brahma
Gully
Downs
Easties
Inter
Haven't been able to get on touch with vale or grove so far, if anybody connected with any team not mentioned feels like putting an old boys team together, let me know.
The idea is for this tourney to become the curtain raiser for our season on this long weekend every year. It will be a chance for the whole league to get together, mingle, share contact details for the upcoming season, and generally just get to know each other better and have a few beers when it's all finished. It will only ever be light hearted, and in the name of fun. Sponsors for prizes are in the pipeline, but for this first year, we will just concentrate on the organisation and success of the day.

I could just remember you expressing an interest in the comp at the Fed ground a couple of years ago that fell through. And you do actually comply with the rules of our league, being over 30, so if you are keen for a giggle and a few coldies, we should be able to fit you in somewhere.Bacon888 wrote:I'm not over 35.

^ as a yong one please be advised that running is strictly optional, only tolerated in very short bursts and should you do too much of it you are highly unlikely to make any new friends.

He must have mistaken it for the SAASL allowing clubs to have more than one team in division nine.

Re: Old Boys Div9 2014
The Fossils are supreme athletes you should know that. So don't doubt yourself. No problem. Might be a bit blotchy for a few days but after that no worries.Old Redback wrote:More to the point are we going to have recovered from the carnival at Modbury?swannsong wrote:Isn't there one a bit later in the month ? ;)htfac wrote:The Downs Fossils are looking for a trial on the 16th March. A few tips: beer drinking is one of the biggest attributes he looks for in his players.

Re: Old Boys Div9 2014
You could probably say that about most O35 teams.
I tend to go off on a tangent
