That's a big call. Do you know him personally, surely he can call "pass" and "man on" in English? Or is it his way of getting out of buying the drinks cause he can't even say "11 pints please" in English?[/quote]

I would be very surprised if he couldn't speak a word of English.

You would have to be pretty thick to live in a country for three years and not be able to talk the language being spoken all around you every day.

Wasn't there a United player that was in the country for years and couldn't speak English in recent years? Anderson was it?

Walcott out for the remainder of the season & misses the world cup :(

Huge loss for both Arsenal & England.

Wenger must buy & must do so now & not wait till the end of January. Costa has a 32mil release clause, lets get him Wenger!!!!

Nah, he plays for Man U, they get away with it.

It'll be poor, misunderstood Gareth I think.
Correct. Gareth has been booked for diving more than double any other player in EPL history.

LOL. Assnal will not be buying Costa in January, not a chance. Be happy with Berbatov

Can't see Costa moving to another league during a WC season.

Yeah I saw that as well, however I'm not assuming that because he is probably more comfortable with speaking his first language that he can't speak a word of English as has been purported on here.

Even if the fee release clause is met, Costa still has to agree to terms of course. They would need to offer him a substantial pay rise to get him to move considering he's playing so well atm.

Any player with hopes of playing for Spain in the WC would be foolish to leave La Liga halfway through a WC season, especially when they're playing so well. He'll probably move after the WC.

Spot on. I can definitely see him moving after the WC.. but there is no way he should move now from purely a professional perspective. Definitely see him chasing the dollars after the WC, and rightly so as it looks like he is going to have a 30+ goal season. Would fit in perfectly well at any of the top EPL clubs.

I dunno, with Lukaku coming back, they may not splash out on a first choice striker.

The release clause alone will be a job and half to negotiate, that's what delayed Liverpool in the summer. It's not 32m, it's closer to double that with tax grossed up.

Bayern spent the better part of 6months finding a way to circumvent the tax system when getting Martinez from Bilbao.

That, and the WC year reason, can't see him moving mid-season.

Have just seen the way the Quote system has me saying Demebele doesn't speak English... not the case I was quoting someone else who stated it, mine is the "Big call" sentence... not sure what happened there.
I do agree that a player going from Argentina to Italy may struggle early on to adapt.
As a LFC fan, I won't bag a player not adapting straight away... Look at Lucas now compared to 2007/08 season... Even as simple as look at Suarez now compared to when he signed, not just attitude wise, but he is so much better now.
Plus, bag Lamela and you have to bag Jovetic, or Rodwell (easy as an LFC supporter)... except cause Man City are doing fine, no ones cares he isn't playing.
If Spurs stay together, there is a lot of potential.

How long will the current Necastle and Southampton squads be able to stay together is an interesting one... surely past the summer window will see them losing the likes of Cabaye, Lallana, Shaw, Remy etc...

Villa 1 Arsenal 2.

Christmas has come and gone and the naysayers still haven't seen the Gunners fall off their perch.

In total tiki taka control in the 1st half @ Villa Park and led 2-0, although they should have killed them off.

Sweated a bit in the 2nd half with Villa relying on long balls to Benteke to pull one back, but got the 3 points in the end on a cold winter's night in Birmingham.

Can anyone guess who made these comments recently?
"I would concede there was a sense of relief when United played well and won, particularly at Old Trafford.

"I knew if they didn't win there was every chance of seeing and, more importantly, hearing Ferguson and reading his comments about me in the papers the next day.

"All referees knew that Fergie's standing in the game - and the fact that he was at the biggest club - meant that when he unleashed the hairdryer on a referee there were inevitable headlines."

He also suggested David Moyes has to accept he cannot enjoy anything like the same intimidating effect he believes Sir Alex Ferguson enjoyed for many years.

"I fear another defeat for Moyes," he said.

"[Moyes] must accept that he does not have the same intimidating presence as his predecessor had."

I'd take Lallana at Liverpool. He's a freak!
