Hi,

Not sure how much interest there is in Futsal. Have created this forum and we shall see how it goes.

If its used we will keep it - if it is not then we will remove it.

Futsal, I believe, will be the greatest impetus for the game to become the biggest sport in Australia. I have 2 sons that played at Brahma Lodge this year, and they have school friends who played regularly elsewhere.

The important point is that many of their friends who played futsal are footy players who now, after playing futsal, have registered for proper football. I think that this will be the trend.

The only complaint I have is that there does not seem to be much conformity between the centres that hold the games regarding the rules. For me the beauty of futsal is that kids learn to pass quickly and develop the ability to read the play and react, because they are constantly involved in the game, and size and strength is not of huge importance. Therefore when I played as a kid in England the ball was not allowed to go over head height and we used a size 4 ball, slightly smaller than we used in 11 a-side, so that control and speed were improved. At Brahma Lodge they use a bigger ball and the ball can go where you like.

Unfortunately it does not promote intelligent football, which at the end of the day is what we should aspire to, because the more the kids and parents understand the real beauty of the 'jogo bonito', the more likely it is that they watch the A-League, which will lead to more money spent on merchandise etc. and the quicker football will get the corporate financial backing. and the less likely that the best players in this country will go abroad. Why should we have to watch B team players in the A-League?

Now is a great opportunity for the people involved in junior futsal to create a unified body and organize cohesive rules leading to the best teams playing in a tournament at the end of the season and increase profile.

I hope the futsal forum continues as I reckon over the next couple of years there will be much discussion on this section of the game.

I'd like to know more. What about a list of venues, dates, teams & web sites?

My son & his mates are interested, I said that they can play in the off season.

I know nothing about it, except that it is played indoors
I do not know which makes a man more conservative—to know nothing but the present, or nothing but the past.

Jeda, if you live anywhere near Burragh Recreation centre, Modbury North, I suggest you give them a call. Great facilities, great size pitch, decent size goals, good rules, they've just had thier finals so I believe they are ready to go again .

Harrycripps, Burragh Recreation centre does not have futsal they only play "indoor soccer so to speak" not actually futsal. Magill recreation center does run a mens futsal competion on sunday nights.

As Jets Said :

Burragah Rec Centre only runs REBOUND indoor soccer. As does some other indoor venues. Don`t get them mixed up.

Futsal is different :

No walls are used to play off, different ball & different rules.

Played at some other venues, but not endorsed by FFSA

FUTSAL SA : is the only indoor Futsal group Endorsed by the FFSA.
as seen on their website.

In my opinion and experience, being endorsed by the FFSA does'nt count for much.If you want year round futsal check out the Adelaide Stingrays website and have a chat with Spiros. He's initiating beach football at city beach (Pirie st) in the next couple of months as well.

hulkamanics!!

rofl!.......why would i doubt that u put urs away forza!!

as for futsal....

1. no rebounds, has to be dead ball on line and played in.
2. players aloud in semi-circles
3. no heights.
4. smaller and weighted down ball
5. keepers aloud out semi-circles (i think)
6. different sized goals

much quicker and skilled game the normal indoor (in my eyes) :D
Dont visualize beating the keeper, Visualize destroying the keeper.

Futsal Lovers

Lets not kid oursleves and listen to a lot of other excuses about who is the best in Futsal Competitions. If your child is playing any form of Indoor Soccer, whether its rebound, on the nets, against the wall etc, this is benefiting them in learning close control and team work playing in a small area.
Whether our Futsal SA competitions are being played for 3-4 months of the year is eirrlevent as most of the 100+ players that play at Campbelltown Leisure Centre or St jays in Salisbury are most of them playing outdoor Soccer during the Winter Season
Playing the real game of Futsal under the auspices of Futsal SA, FFSA and endorsed by FIFA is much more beneficial in the long term. We are trying to develop the sport and other Centres and others are trying to imitate us as they know they can make a quick buck out of your kids but they are not endorsed by the FFSA so dont fall into their trap...
Play the Real game with proper Registration and Insurance, accredited Futsal Referees not Fake ones, The Full FIFA Laws of the Game and have the chance to represent the State in one of the 10 teams (from Under 12 to Seniors) that will be selected from our Competitions.
If Centres want to change to Futsal and get endorsed by the FFSA we would like to hear from you and we can then assist you in achieving this..

Re: Futsal Forum

Post by Raymond »

Its always an intense and exciting time when finals come around, last night seeing some really good Futsal (well nearly) being played in both Divisions and producing some upsets.

Division 2
Last Resort who have won this competition for the last three seasons are going for a record fourth 2nd Division title after booking their Grand Final appearance winning over the Brazilians Ginga. Both teams started the game playing cautiously, which the Referees had to calm down a couple of players, one from each side in this close encounter issuing yellow cards to two of them. It was a fine and disciplined performance by the Champions with their youngest recruit young Andrew Pilkson displaying maturity, some fine skill and good vision. Dario Pesaturo's hat trick and M. Staltari's two goals silenced the Brazilians in the second half. Ginga seemed undermanned not having their full nine players and now have to wait until next week to see if they are going to make the Grand Final for the first time. Jorge Arterio and Javier Lopez got the goals for Ginga.
Score: Last Resort 5-2 Ginga
Cautions: Jorge (G) and Claude Criscitelli (LR)

In the Elimination Final, Graveyardaz were so very disappointing, bowing out of the finals with a big hole in the defence getting trashed by last season's runner up team Mali Hrvati. Nenad Lonic's team were on song in this game with once again the younger brother Josip in goal making some fine saves to keep another clean sheet. Graveyardaz had no answers, so its back to the drawing board for them and hope that next season will be a better one. The Croation side will be hoping to keep this form up for next week against Ginga for a chance to repeat last season's Grand Final against Last Resort where they were unfortunate to have played with only 4 players when they had their 5th player get injured in the game and without any substitues.
Score: Mali Hrvati 8, Graveyardaz 0
Cautions: Pravin Pillay (Gr)

1st Division
What a game for Da Mario's to be undermanned, they were without the services of top strikers Joe Rechichi, Chad Bugeja and Frank Ammirato in its line up. Cold Gin thought their Easter present came even earlier this year with Larry Piscioneri in goals making many a good save. Adrian Papa solid in Defence and two goals apiece from Jason Cummins and Jordan Darcy gave Cold Gin an upseting result victory over third time Champions Da Marios booking their place in the grand Final. Da Mario had the experienced Mehran Gebleh, Laurie Berlingeri, Robert McDonald and MJ Casalbore in the team with young David Savino, but Cold Gin were far too strong.
Score: Cold Gin 4, Da Marios 0
Cautions: David Savino (DMs)

In the Elimination Final Bada Bing had Da Playaz's Josip Lonic in goal to contend with to have any chance of making it to the 2nd Semi Final next week against Da Marios. Last year's finalists and runner up Da Playaz were in good form and had everyone in the team get on the score sheet. Harry Antoniou got over his injury and seemed to get his fitness back making some great individual runs scoring a hat trick. Nick Karandrikis scored twice and one apiece to Alex Dimitriou and ALex Ziakis.
Bada Bing tried all game playing some good Futsal too and getting four goals, two to Robbie Ficiadente and another two to Giuseppe Tauriello, they could have had more but for the many saves from Josip who is hoping to play in both the 1st and 2nd Division Grand Finals this season. (He's not greedy is he?)
Score: Bada Bing 4, Da playaz 7
Cautions: Robbie Ficciadente (BB) Aex Zaikis (DP)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next week's matches - 18th of March

8.10pm - 2nd Division Semi Final Ginga v Mali Hrvati
9.10pm - 2st Division Semi Final Da Playaz v Da Marios

Hi Futsal lovers
Great post and very interesting to see words like only played for 3 months of the year by one association and sip n save and the McDonalds of Futsal use by others.
Lets look at some facts so we are all talking the same language.
Futsal is the greatest indoor sport and a fantastic way for kids to have fun, develop their skills all year round no matter how hot or cold it is.
A bit of trivia for you! Did you know that in Italy (World Cup Holders) there are more registered Futsal players than outdoor players? That says enough for Futsal let alone how good the Brazilians are because of Futsal.
So who are Vikings Futsal you might ask?
Vikings Futsal started in Queensland 20 years ago and is a not-for-profit organisation, which puts back into the grass roots of Futsal, and also gives opportunities to players to play all year round and to travel OS as well.
If you want to see more about the career paths Vikings offers have a look at our website http://www.vikingsfutsal.com

Vikings Futsal is played through out Australia, New Zealand and China with offices to open in the UK this year and the USA and Canada next.
Vikings have at last count over 31,000 registered players, compared to all other Futsal states combined of around 16,000 players.
We hold the largest organised Futsal tournament in the World that's correct “World” which had 1,600 teams compete last year and this year we are hoping to get 2000 teams.
Futsal is played in Qld. all year round and is a subject in their school system hence the quality of players produced from there.
Opportunities to make Rep teams from juniors to senior men and women.
Opportunities to go overseas on a regular basis with Rep teams to play and learn from the best Futsal players around. We have been sending team on Tours for over 10 years to all parts of the world.
Australia wide insurance cover.
Only Australasian Futsal organisation recognised by EBF (Escola Brasileira De Futebol, http://www.ebfnet.com.br).
Vikings Futsal are the only organisation contracted by EBF (Brazil Football Education) to send players and teams to their National training centre where the likes of Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Kaka train and sleep.

If you have been selected for a Vikings representative team to tour overseas, you have been selected from the largest Futsal player base in Australasia.
Congratulations to South Australia’s Larissa Schultz for making the U16 Girls team to tour the UK next month.
Congratulations also goes out to the players selected in the SA Men’s team to play in the Vikings National League in Qld over Easter.
To show that Vikings are not interested in bagging any one or politics the SA Men’s team for the National League is made up of players who have played in the Federation and Stingrays comps and players who made the Vodafone Cup final in Sydney. Thank you to all players who trialled.
Congratulations and good luck to the U15 Boys team selected to play at the Regional in Qld over Easter they will be involved in the largest Futsal tournament in the World.
So if you are genuinely serious about your Futsal then call me to play with the Vikings.
Cheers Tom

Sounds great. And congratulations to all that's being involved in these competitions - good luck.

Now all that remains, is that Vikings become affilliated with FFA, via the FFSA. I don't want to ruin your parade about being recognized by the EBF - as that is very good but.... I think you know where I'm going with this.

People need to sit at a round table and work things out in order to really move the sport forward.
Who?... Who is but a form, followed by the function of what... And what I am, is a man in a mask!

Hi Squizzy
We have tried that at national level with the FFA and Aust. Soccer previously and they are not interested in Futsal so we had to do it our selves.
As mentioned we have over 31,000 registered players in the Vikings organisation and are growing. It seem to me that in SA that people are only interested in them selves and what they can get out of it. That might explain why a staff member of Futsal FFSA and the Stingrays boys played in the Vikings Asia Pacific Futsal League, so they can be exposed to the highest level of Futsal in the country and gain valuable experience to take back to their smaller organisations.
They are in no way affiliated with us and still play in our competitions.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think the FFA nationals are in Canberra in 2009. I attended 2008 and was lucky enough to assist Ewerton a full time professional coach
(Which is a 5 year University degree to obtain, not a weekenda with some local guy) from Brazil who was flown in by the Vikings to coach the Men’s and Women’s Qld teams.
I was amazing what I learnt and saw that same old politics at the national as usual.
I can say this as I speak from experience having being the National Referees Secretary, SA Referees President, Referees State coach, refereed every possible final at nationals over the 10 plus years. I also refereed the Alatalia National Futsal league and full internationals involving Brazil, Japan, Canada and Australia.
At 2008 nationals I watched every final from the U12 upward and it was like watching the NSW state titles with all their different zone teams.
So much for 1 team from each state.
Unfortunately no SA teams made the final, but we did have a young lady win the MVP for the U14 girls, congratulations to her, but she is now playing out door till October this year when Futsal starts up again.
At the 2009 FFA nationals, Qld. will not be attending and in stead will be going to the Vikings Nationals, and I’m sure other states will follow as well, as there is limited growth or career paths for players once they finish the tournament in Canberra every year.

I think the real reason Qld is not attending the FFA Nationals is because they are no longer able to compete at that level. Take out the 14 girls and open women and there isn't much to speak of. Even the much acclaimed open men with their professional Brazilian coach only won 1 match out of 6 and were knocked out in the quarters.

Here's a summary of the Queensland results:
11 Boys - City made QF, Metro, Country and North between the three won 2 games out of 21.
12 Boys - Both teams (City and Country) both finished last in their pools without a win.
13 Boys - City won 1 match, lost to ACT 12-1 in QF, Metro won 1 match (against QLD Country) and lost in QF to Victoria 14-0, Country finished last without a win.
14 Boys - City made semis, they won 3 of their 7 games. Metro, North and Country were 3 of the 4 teams to miss out on quarters winning 3 matches out of the 15 they played.
15 Boys - Both City and Country went home without a win.
16 Boys - In a 9 team comp, QLD North came 6th, Country came 8th, City came last.
Youth Men - QLD Country won 1 game out of 5, lost in QF.
Open Men - won 1 match out of 6, lost in QF
12 Girls - City came 4th out of 5 teams.
13 Girls - City won 1 match out of 6, finished 6th out of 7.
14 Girls - City winners, North won 1 game out of 5 finished 5th in pool.
15 Girls - City won 1 game out of 6, lost in semi.
16 Girls - City finished last without a win.
Yth Women - In a 6 team comp City came 5th, Country came 6th
Open Women - Runners Up, won 5 out of 10 games.

I don't think the quality of the Nationals will be diminished if QLD decide to run their own "Nationals". Actually there might be some positives, the standard of the FFA Nationals will be higher with no more weak teams and the QLD teams might actually get to win a few "National titles".

You obviously have lots of time to find that out, but haven’t got all your facts.
Here are a few facts from the Nationals over the years, as I have personally refereed finals there.
Queensland have won both the Men and Women’s titles at the Nationals plus, Alatalia, National League games and various National junior grades.
If you saw the men’s quarter final to Solomon Islands, we should have won with a bit of luck and if you like I can get you a copy of the DVD to see for you self as it was the best game of the tournament.
Solomon Islands should have been in the final and in my personal opinion were the best team there.
In the recent state of origin Futsal match played between QLD and NSW , QLD won comfortably, if memory serves me right 5-1 so there is no problem in the quality of Futsal there.
Unfortunately SA has never won a men’s or women’s Nationals match, because we haven’t been able to get teams to compete in all these years.
So to summarise we have over 31,000 registered players compared to the rest of Aust. around 16,000 players. You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to work it out that there is a lot more quality players to choose from and to compete against in our Nationals next year.
That’s not to mention NZ, China and our ties with the Brazilian Federation.
I find it interesting that FFSA and Stingrays staff play in our quality tournaments and yet they are in no way affiliated to the Vikings in any way. We allowed them to play so we can promote the great game of Futsal.
So instead of putting Futsal down, because it doesn’t mater where it is played you should be happy that the players have options and a harder competition to play thought out the year and not only at the January Nationals. Cheers Tom
