Didn't their captain also ask the umpire to stop the Australians making fun of them as well?
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. That's why I succeed." -Michael Jordan
Re: The ashes in Australia 2013-14
Comment from Cricinfo commentary "I notice that Stokes is born in NZ. When was the last time England fielded a test 11 that were all actually born in England?" I would say that is a very rare occurrence indeed. England players have always been born in the Empire. Place of birth is a slim measure of nationality anyway...

To answer your questions - stokes is a kiwi and should not be playing for England. Similar to symonds, khawaja, half your rugby team etc...

Re: The ashes in Australia 2013-14
GIAE - Just let them get on with it, as ive said before, wait 10-20 years (maybe less) and Australias new "multi Cultural" look will start to show. No doubt they will have a quite a few English born players before long..........or a few somlai people.
Anyway, great day of test cricket. I would say pretty even (maybe England took the honours just) The drop by Carberry was terrible and i hope that does not come back to haunt us.....if he had taken that then we were on top for sure.

Too Funny....
http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/cri ... 6776536277IN A NATION renowned for its whining, this is its No.1 whinger.
England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Giles Clarke is moaning that the world-famous Gabba crowd crippled his team with their chants and barracking for the triumphant Aussies, and now wants the iconic ground dropped from future Ashes.
Poms threaten to boycott Brisbane
England's whinge over Gabba hypocritical
But a trio of Queensland cricket legends say the "precious'' Poms need to harden up and Brisbane should get top marks for making the old enemy feel unwelcome.
Former Queensland captain Jimmy Maher lavished praise on the Gabba crowd, which he compared to a State of Origin rugby league cauldron, and says the Poms only complained about the crowd to divert attention from their woeful cricket performance in Brisbane.
"The Poms are kidding, aren't they? Good, strong cricket teams don't worry about that sort of stuff,'' Maher said.
"I give 10 out of 10 to the people of Queensland being a great crowd during the Ashes.
"The fact the crowd got under England's skin, and the Poms are worrying about all sorts of silly stuff, is a real win.''
Stuart Law, the current Queensland coach and the man who famously captained the Bulls to their first Sheffield Shield win, also cannot believe the carry-on from the Poms.
Law, who played Test and one-day international cricket for Australia, described the Poms as "precious".
"Australia has not been beaten at the Gabba in Test cricket since 1988. I suppose the Poms saying they might not want to come here in future is one way for them to break that hold," Law said.
"They are being precious. They don't like playing at the Gabba, as simple as that.''
And the Queenslander who was in charge of a golden era of Australian cricket, respected former national selection boss Trevor Hohns, said the Poms had complained simply to take the focus off their Gabba drubbing.
"They are making big things out of little things to take the heat off their own performance in Brisbane,'' ex-Test legspinner Hohns said.
"Wherever you go in world cricket, the crowd gives you a bit of stick. People pay their money and they are entitled to have a bit of good natured fun.''
The poor-loser Poms were so infuriated at chants of "Stuart Broad is a wanker'' at the Gabba that Clarke made informal comments that he wanted Brisbane excluded from the next series.
The Poms also took offence to a comment by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk at a lunch, when Cr Quirk had a go at English batsman Kevin Pietersen after the cricketer tweeted he would rather watch paint dry than look around Brisbane.
Cr Quirk isn't backtracking.
"I offered the cricketer the keys to the city but I said it would be for the back door," he said.
Queensland Cricket is also bemused at the nonsense from the Poms. Before the complaints came to light, QC even received a letter from the England Cricket Board earlier this week thanking officials for their hospitality.

No doubt they do, I was just surprised that there was a post saying that they barmy army were very quiet.
Even when the English Cricket team used to get belted all the time by the Aussies, the barmy army still used to sing - loud and proud!

Come on Derek, you must be more than a little bit embaressed by these sorts of actions by your cricket team (by extension inclusive of your administrators).
I know I would be if an Australian sporting team made this sort of complaint about this from an away crowd.

Re: The ashes in Australia 2013-14
I dont see any quotes from Clarke. But anyway, it depends on what he is moaning about. The booing of Broad as he came off after taking 5 for was disgraceful and not cricket and even past aussie players agreed (not jimmy maher an international wannabe) Just mindless fools who have no knowledge for the game.
Adelaide always has quality banter between both sets of fans and i cant wait for it tomorrow, it really is a good day.
If he actually threatened to boycott playing at the Gabba, then he needs to toughen up.
