1.98 metres (6-foot, 5-inch) Mertesacker would have dealt with van Purseman at that corner and he wouldn't have scored. A flat Arsenal performance, yes. But one that deserved a draw had a chance 2 metres out in the last minute not been missed.
Arsenal didn't deserve shit, they came looking for a draw and got their just deserts.
I think it's desserts

No, the phrase is "just deserts"

no talk about the penalty claim rooney had in the 1st half
giroud clearly bought him down, didnt even win the ball....
but hey, i guess people only see the apparent "soft" penaltys united get, not the ones they dont get ;)

Came looking for the draw
We were flat first half after a big week v Liverpool & Dortmand. Caught us lapsing on a set piece, goal.
Bar that moment I was happy with our performance & we should be able to take enough confidence from the game to be able to continue moving forward.

Need Walcott, Podlski & Ox back as we lack pace in the side at the minute. With Rosicky out ill last night it was evident our lack of drive & pace. Great at going side to side & keeping the ball but when we pick it up in areas last night & we could of got at United with pace we just didnt have it in some of the players out there.

Will look a different side with these two back in......

Thought Vermaelen did a decent enough job at the back to possibly make it hard for Wenger and your not wrong about a tough Week with Liverpool then Dortmund then United. That being said Cazorla, Ramsey(given his current form), Arteta and Ozil should be able to push the ball about well enough to break down a very unstable United backline without using too much pace.

Villa (who beat them), Fulham, Sunderland, Spurs (with half a dozen new players) and Stoke is a very gentle start to the season. Let's see how he handles a few more games before making judgement.
The key will be how he goes against the big teams.. i.e. Napoli and Dortmund in CL and Liverpool and Man U in the PL (who they're playing in a few weeks)
1 assist in his last 5 and lacked influence in those big games. still the best player in the league?

 Lamela - At every opportunity you try and put Ozil down, you only make yourself look stupid. He is one of the best players in the league easily.....If you actually watch full games, you will see his work rate and the incredible passes he makes. He was kept quiet against Man U....Big deal.

I think you should change your username to Ozil, rather than an overrated bench warmer that you wasted £30 mill on

 Not too many bench warmers playing for Argentina

Realistically it was always going to take him longer to settle than Ozil, purely because he's three years younger and doesn't speak English.

Don't get what your saying here Cyril???

Lamela is not the same level as ozil because he can't speak English??
Lamela is not the same level as ozil because he plays for Argentina (on the bench too)

Or the simple fact he has not matured yet as a player would be my guess. Both warrant respect, ozil more so as he is proven at this stage already. Let's see how lamela fares in two seasons time and compare them from there. Because as it stands, and not due to the who he plays for, but he is in the top 5 players in this league. Fact.

How much has anyone really seen of Lamela?
I'm guessing most in here don't watch Serie A but if you did you wouldn't question his talent.
He will be fine given time.

Using just desserts is not an error and it is much more common than just deserts in 21st-century texts.

In a historical sense I see where you are coming from, but if you get out of the 1800's you will see how it is used in a general sense.

Anyway, good day to you old chap.

I'm sure people will understand what you mean if you write or say 'desserts', but it's still wrong and meaningless. Why would you get your just pudding?

Did see a fair chunk of his games last season yeah, hence why I personally have never dis-credited the lad. Can definitely play, no doubt about it.
To say he's on the same level as ozil is a p1ss take though. (And I'm not aiming that at you nor Cyril)

WTF was that all about? Any game plan they had went out the window after 20 seconds (thanks Hugo) and, whilst they were only one down, they played OK, but once the second went in they just folded. I'm wondering if AU would swap AVB for Gombau

Are Spurs the biggest joke in the EPL? Fuck me, $100 mill down the drain.

My brother is a Spurs "fan"... he saw the lineup, turned the TV off and went to bed

Reading some of the English press and they are slating Lamela's performance, but I actually thought he played well, given the overall team performance. At least he tried to beat players, make space, play clever little through balls, whereas Holtby just chugged about playing backwards and sideways (has Gombau been coaching him?).

AVB has always been a doubt in my mind and, for my money, he's still picking the wrong team and playing some players out of position, but I was, and am still, prepared to give him a season to see how it pans out.

How you can play a high line with Dawson (he makes Tony Adams look like Usain Bolt) in the defence is just a mystery to me and will someone please tell that right back Wanker, sorry for the typo that should be Walker, that he's a defender, not a right winger. Missing in action for most of the game, which just puts more pressure on the racehorse Dawson. :x

me too, but they're both only 21. AVB may have overdone the youth focus too much as players taking a lot longer to get settled. It would also help if Lamela knew how to speak English..

I wish I'd done the same, instead I sat and suffered. To be fair, City's transition was impressive, pace everywhere.

PS. How did Rooney not get sent off? Have you signed Swarbrick as well?

Six and the City is normally insufferable.

Swarbrick is no Webb, but he'll do.
