Re: W League
I don't mind if a player carries a little weight if they have great foot skills you could look pass that , you can be the most fittest player in the world if you don't have the skills its a waste of time, just my opinion

Re: W League
Not agreeing or disagreeing but could you not argue the reverse, "all the great foot skills in the world are useless if you cannot keep up with the game due to lack of fitness?"
I know fitness and carrying a few extra pounds don't necessarily go hand in hand but I'm being a bit presumptuous and inferring that by saying that they are..
Obviously fit, athletic, not overweight and skilful all in one package is the desired but I think especially in a summer league where all other teams/players are fit that an overweight unfit player, however skilful, is a luxury the lady reds can ill afford.
Just my thoughts.. And I'm not singling anyone out as I still don't know the final squad for this season.. Hint hint...

Re: W League
Not so interested that I would go to training sessions...will go to a few games tho especially when the womens team play at West Beach.
I guess AU not that interested in the womens team themselves. Im pretty sure they dont fund them.

So in other words, AU do not wear the blu WA strip, because ( I know it may be hard to comprehend) AU is NOT WA!!!

You dont know much about the womans game do you? I said a little weight not overweight
Thats the problem with small minded people that are involved with the mens game , things are different in the womans game, it showed when barnett tried to coach the womans game like the mens game and failed

Re: W League
Wow, you maybe don't know much about the womens game then.. Which Matilda or serious player in the womens game carries a bit of extra weight..? NONE! Kristy Moore doesn't carry a little extra weight, Caitlin Foord, Steph Catley, Lisa De Vanna, Elise Kellond knight, Sawa, Marta etc do not carry extra weight. Just because SA female players do, does not make it right.
Remember we are talking the elite level here, not local league! I think the serious local girls, checker, Ianella, Chidiac etc have the right idea no they are training at an elite level so that they don't carry extra weight and good on them for doing it, despite a generally low level of expectation from coaches and clubs. good on Ross for demanding that level of fitness too!

Perhaps you need more of the small minded people from the men's competition involved to improve the womEn's game.
Re: W League
As I said before they tried small minded people from the mens game and Barnett failed.Next small minded comment Wraith ?Wraith wrote:John Cena wrote: Thats the problem with small minded people that are involved with the mens game , things are different in the womans game, it showed when barnett tried to coach the womans game like the mens game and failed![]()

Re: W League
So the women's game doesn't need improving?
Where have the majority of the coaching staff for AUW come from? The men's competition.
Perhaps look at getting some administrators across from the men's as well, it may improve the professionalism.
Just a suggestion.

Re: W League
Why doesn't adel utd fund itJohn Cena wrote:Sounds like great ideas but FFSA need to fund this team more
Re: W League
They did the first three years then they said it was too expensive to run so they cut them and FFSA took over the reigns.
Re: W League
In what way are they doing a crap Job????
They are keeping a team going that gives our local players a chance to play in the top league of Australia.
They are working hard to get sponsors for the team and they are doing their best on a very tight budget...
I applaud them for doing a great job when Adelaide United just thought it was all too hard and wiped their hands of the womens team...
