maybe Sando can encourage chapman to play a season or 2...buys us some time....however I can see carlton make a play for him as a replacement for Betts
Chapman isn't even worth it. He would be better suited to a GWS or Melbourne. Clubs who seriously need leadership and quality

What part of Adelaide's last season inferred that there was not a serious lack of quality and leadership? They went from missing out on gf by a kick to 12th. I still can't believe people are complaining about betts.who else is kicking the goals next season? Chappy is still capable of tearing it up. Leadership and a little experienced quality is exactly what you need. Porpoise n callinan are not even fit to tie chappy's boots.you are not alone with these thoughts. Crows fans have some seriously bizarre delusions on where they're at.

Eddie betts has done nothing to prove his worth of 500k lately. He has only scored 50 goals in a season once. Crows do need him though but I think he's slightly overpaid.

Rumour is Port have told Nathan Freeman they will draft him if he's available at our pick. Freeman's playing style has drawn comparisons to Judd and Dangerfield, very explosive.

Second fastest time overall in draft combine history for the 20m sprint and first overall in 30m repeat sprints. Was projected to be around our pick 10-18 before the combine but his stocks may have risen, 7-15. Knock on him is he doesn't get his hands on the ball enough plenty to work with, especially with Port desperately needing outside run.

Betts is a good pick up for Adelaide but his 500k per season price tag seems a bit over the top, not worth that much
Bit of a worry when a 26 year old wins "most improved"

How? He is about to reach the prime stage of his career. Much like Westhoff

Vic Metro kid, played for Sandringham Dragons which is kind of off-putting with them crying about being homesick and all (Ben Jacobs). Although I'm sure it's harder to walk away from our side now under Hinkley than it was under Primus' reign.

Hinkley is almost like a father figure to these younger guys and I think he will be a key in attracting and retaining young players like Wines who have come from interstate. PAFC have the respect back as well and another good season in 2014 will have more players wanting to come here as the Power move in on the top 4 (hopefully)!

Why?
1) What's he done the past 7 seasons that were junk?
2) Shouldn't a bloke with 7 previous pre-seasons at the club have a better base than a kid who has never played AFL before? Or even one with just one season prior (Ellis)?

It wasn't even his best year for average disposals. But I guess he did get his first ever Brownlow votes this year.

I wasn't questioning who it was, but why you have an issue with age?

Who gives a rats arse if Betts is overpaid? Fact is it cost Crows no picks or players and they have loads of space now that Tippett is gone. Crows will front load the deal to allow space later on.

You're 100% right about Ken Hinkley but Vic Metro kids are a little different though, Brisbane's Longer, Karnezis and Docherty are good examples of homesick Vic Metro kids pulling their club 2 steps back. Vic Country lads like Wines are going to move regardless, we're lucky in that respect.

No doubt if we can improve on this year in 2014, we'll have no trouble in recruiting players.

Yeah that's a fair call. Wines has definitely settled in and looks more than happy here plus we play in Melbourne a fair bit so he sees his family often and I think that helps....they probably come here as well. Port Adelaide seem to be a club where players want to be at, even when we are at our very worst...after 2011 our worst ever season we had a handful of young guns sign on as well as at the end of 2012 and that has helped us get where we are today. Matt White, a Victorian saying he WANTS to come to Port Adelaide over any other club is a massive boost and hopefully more players will do the same in the future. I think the list is pretty settled now though and will continue to be developed...another tall forward and a development ruckman seem to be priority
