TTG vs PHW

Post by Pilots »

Hey Eastboy,

you caught us on an off day trying a few things. Obviously we worked them out cause we played convincingly against a very good Para Hills West side and came up with a nice win.

In fact my money would be on PHW beating PHE based on what I saw over the last two weeks.

Were competitive and we look forward to playing another 1st Div team next week so we know what we are up against next year back where the Gully belong.

Aldo,

Would expect Blue Eagles to win Div 4 easily. They were the form team towards the end of the year in Div 3!

Have you still got the quick guy with the mullet up front?
Number9, Too bad it took us 14 weeks to get up and running! Aaron is playing at Enfield this year but if it doesn't work out for him, I am hoping he comes back to us.

The club is definitely aiming to win the league, but we haven't seen any other teams yet so it is difficult to see what the standard will be like. Consistency will be the key for us - one week we are matching it with SPOC and ROCS, and the next week we are coping 5 from San Marco!
Yesterday's result was encouraging, especially with our first choice keeper and two imports to come in.

It's a shame the Iggies v. ROCS derby can only be held as a trial game these days.

Hey pilots,
If you have read my posts on that game i actually said you guys will be fighting for promotion this year. I know u had a few guys that were out. I know these guys will make a big impact for you. With Brad down there you guys will definately be around the mark in div2, coz he's been there and done that. To be bluntley honest we couldn't really care less about our results pre-season, coz its just a good time to try somethings out. Thats what u do.
As for westies to beat us, im not even going to hook onto that one, not worth it. The derbies are always fierce and we will be in the mix no doubts about that.
Just dont get too far ahead of yourself, like gully boyz said, you got a long way to go yet!

Doesn't look good for Vista. Although there were alot of new faces in their team.
It finished 4 - 2, Plympton don't look too bad but we were without a few starting 11 players and not to mention we played like shite, everyone has there bad days.

Looking forward to round 1 so we can turn it around 8)

ROCS were asleep first half but even so, the ref (an Iggies boy) gave a dodgy penalty against them.

2nd half, ROCS had about 4 one-on-ones but the strikers had an off day.

Well there'll be a few more bad days ahead if Vista play with that team every week.

I dont want to isolate a few players out, but the right and left backs were terrible. Surely they weren't from last years A team which had the best defence in the league (1 off day against Farmers). They must be rugby players as they kept kicking the ball in to touch. Someone should explain the rules of football to them. You guys had nothing up front either.

Looked like your new coach has been busy pulling his hair out...

East17,after last weeks drubbing your right a bit of a shock, not just the result but also the way we played for 90 minutes. the big difference was the pitch.westies had a 15-20 min spell halfway thru the 2nd half where they dominated but i thought we coped well and built up from the back and played some decent football. a few different faces to last week and a tweak in formation allowed us to reasonably controlled football.that said our keeper made a couple of decent saves , we also missed a sitter after leading up with a dozen touches in the build up.good hit out .ask your coach KR see if he agrees ???and PILOT get down from up there, how can you say west will beat east???didnt they thump us last week???west and east will no doubt have 2 good tussles this year.ourselves have got a long way before"" watch this space"!!lets not give anyone reason for egg on our face!!!

1. Thats a fair point
2. 2 young lads given a chance, isnt that what trial games are for?
3. Interesting quote that buddy, which part of the game are you refering too?
4. I pulled most of my hair out last year

Did you like the Gilligan hat?

Oh, and once again......thanks for coming to watch us.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

nothing up front you say......, 4 games played by the A's so far this year.... 0-3, 3-6, 7-2 & 2-4 in total 12-15 so you could say that we pretty even so far.....and also if you look at the results of last year from memory we only scored 20 goals or less for the whole year, we've had 12 in 4 games, if you want to produce negative comments on a club, ensure you have the facts!! defensively, each game has been trialling new players so a set defence has never been the same each start of each game

All in all they are all pre-season games and results dont really matter with trailling new players, trialing players in different positions, probably means more to coaches to get it right for Round 1, rather than the final pre-season firendly score.

Having played Vista over the past few years, the Vista team of 2007 seems a lot weaker then the past few years. Regardless of how many goals you may have scored in the pre-season, there seems to be a lack of depth and quality in the side covering all postions. I hope I'm proven wrong, bit I think Vista will struggle and finish out of the top three at best fourth or fifth.

So having said all that, you predict they'll finish the same if not one place higher than 2006?, which was a season vista lacked depth in the squad.

I don't think they'll be in the running at all in 2007. In 06 Vista were very competative in all games bar there last game, and that was only for the last 45 minutes. It was a very close league last year, they may have finished 5th but were in the running for most of the season. I can't see that happening this year. They may finish around the same position but well off the mark from the top teams.

Like I said, I hope I'm proven wrong.

i think you will be yammy, the core squad is the same, 1 loss of Danny Smith however replaced easily by a number of players, its a matter of putting things together, the lads will be there for sure singing their new club song to the tune of "Up their Gazaly" (please excuse the spelling)

Chestnut,

With Danny Smith jumping a league higher and playing well for the Farmers, who do you at Vista that could eaily replace Danny? He was one of Vistas best along with Matty Simpson?
