Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
With the changes to the junior leagues all but assured (board will ratify next week), Premier League clubs are about to be swamped by parents/players who want to play in the super elite Junior competition. Although placements will be tight, most of the more successful and bigger clubs will be running second teams in each age group as a gateway & opportunity for all kids at those clubs to play in the elite competition.
Those less fortunate who will be stuck at State league clubs face the real dilemma of a disjointed season as not all State league clubs field teams in every age group as well as having to travel to places such as Port Pirie, Noarlunga, Gawler, Seaford, Elizabeth etc every second week.
LET THE TRIALS BEGIN.

NFI....as usual
for what its worth, I reckon the new structure won't be implemented until 2015.

Metros already announced cutting at least two teams this year - expect others to follow.Rebel with a Cause wrote:......most of the more successful and bigger clubs will be running second teams in each age group as a gateway & opportunity for all kids at those clubs to play in the elite competition......
Clueless again.

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
Come on .. the kids who will run off to PL clubs if that is their inclination, would probably have done so anyway as most of the SL clubs teams would be in the lower divs anyway that's just the facts ...Rebel with a Cause wrote:With the changes to the junior leagues all but assured (board will ratify next week), Premier League clubs are about to be swamped by parents/players who want to play in the super elite Junior competition. The travel issue would also probably change little for the same reason as above ....

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
My info .. which was also confirmed to me by a Metro coach is that they are not fielding 'B' (Junior league) teams from U13 and above ..Stitch This wrote:Metros already announced cutting at least two teams this year - expect others to follow.Rebel with a Cause wrote:......most of the more successful and bigger clubs will be running second teams in each age group as a gateway & opportunity for all kids at those clubs to play in the elite competition......

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
Heard a group of State league clubs are proposing establishing their own junior competition for their A/B sides and using the FFSA competition to field their second or third string sides. Talk of having two leagues that are graded.
That way they dont have any of the restrictions imposed by the FFSA on the number of teams and they think they will end up with a stronger competition and will pull players away from the other clubs.

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
Yes, Under 14 and Under 15 second teams cut. Thats only two teams. We have never fielded 2x Under 16 or U17 teams.Sacred Noodle wrote:My info .. which was also confirmed to me by a Metro coach is that they are not fielding 'B' (Junior league) teams from U13 and above ..Stitch This wrote:Metros already announced cutting at least two teams this year - expect others to follow.Rebel with a Cause wrote:......most of the more successful and bigger clubs will be running second teams in each age group as a gateway & opportunity for all kids at those clubs to play in the elite competition......

The fact is, there is only 1x U18, 1x Res and 1x Senior team, so by having two teams in the age groups U14 and U15, they would be cut eventuall at U16, so its better they go to another club earlier, to be part of an "A" team. Rather then being cut at Under 16 level.

Because cutting off access to nationally recognised pathways is a sure fire way to pull players away from the other clubs

what access to nationally recognised pathways will state league junior players get?
Have you forgotten already that the "best players" will be in the premier league clubs anyway.
Maybe they wont attract the most talented players but how many really good players get produced by the FFSA system anyway? Seems like a feasible option to me.

Then you have the rumor in another section (or possibly half rumor) that Gawler, Enfield, Toros and possibly Seaford all looking to walk away from the FFSA for reasons not entirely about this but I'm sure it helped make them decide if it is true.

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
Can confirm it already has started, certain PL club trying to take players across the city as coach had them in previous representative team. And who says coaches involved in one off tournament teams would never try and take players from other clubs that they'd otherwise not get the chance to work with...themessenger wrote:Rebel with a Cause wrote:With the changes to the junior leagues all but assured (board will ratify next week), Premier League clubs are about to be swamped by parents/players who want to play in the super elite Junior competition. Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
OMG give it a rest.! If all the good players are in the PL then the SL players will get even more of a chance eg this year only 6 players from each club nominated for STIC therefore players in SL will have more of an opportunity to gain access to the "pathway"themessenger wrote:Stitch This wrote:Seems like a we'll thought out plan.medicare wrote:Heard a group of State league clubs are proposing establishing their own junior competition for their A/B sides and using the FFSA competition to field their second or third string sides. Obviously don't realise that of the 3 boys from SA, 1 is a Gawler player currently playing for the Australian u16 team .... and has probably never played A div football in his lifethemessenger wrote:Stitch This wrote:Seems like a we'll thought out plan.medicare wrote:Heard a group of State league clubs are proposing establishing their own junior competition for their A/B sides and using the FFSA competition to field their second or third string sides. Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
Yes.. and well put it this way my son plays for a current (now to be promoted) SL club we had all six nominated boys reach the final round of STIC trials another PL club whose relevant team was pretty well top of the league had one boy through.. my son was lucky enough to go on to make the current Development Squad the only other boy from our zone to make it was also from a Div 2 team.. !
The arguments and assertions some of you guys are putting forward against the re structure just don't stack up against the facts..!!

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
Hardly any and to call junior football in Adelaide elite competition is a bit of a stretch. Lets look at the records of some of these clubs in having home grown youngsters in their first teams. It's not good, they are seniors results driven and in the long run kids that flock to these clubs will get burnt as the cycle of buying success will not stop and they won't get a look in later on. The players and parents need to look at development at their club and the pathway to senior football. If you are elite, they will find you. How many thousands of kids play and their are only about 30 senior elite spots (AU) in this state. Say we have about conservatively 20,000 juniors running around metro clubs and associations and 0.15% from any one year may play for AU, 4% may make PL in Adelaide. That 0.15% call them elite, but don't make this thing something that its not. 96% of the kids playing junior PL soccer in Adelaide are probably better than average at soccer for their age, elite I don't think so.Steve#4 wrote:There's some food for thought.....themessenger wrote:How many really good players get produced by the FFSA system anyway?

Re: Mad rush to Premier League clubs.
plenty of kids jump ship and club hop every season... the new structure just provides PL clubs with some extra firepower to entice the parents... "Hey, your kids good enough for the PREMIER league, we're the 'A' division, where all the BEST kids play.." i dont even have a kid and i want to play in it! haha.
Lets just see what happens with the new structure and then take it from there.

Technically, you would be in a State League club if you played in it.matty2323 wrote:plenty of kids jump ship and club hop every season... the new structure just provides PL clubs with some extra firepower to entice the parents... I understand it happens, just not a big fan of coaches abusing their position of a representative team coaching position, like STIC, to gain access to players they otherwise wouldn't cross paths with other than on a match day in the league. If the player actively seeks out the move that is different.
