I personally went to Adelaide Secondary school last Sunday to watch the game. I'm a fan of soccer, and I don't think cheating makes the game worth watching. All the allegations against both teams are NOT correct. First of all, Blue Nile started the reserves game with only 9 men, then other 2 joined in the second half. It was a boring game to watch for the fact that even the guy in goals wasn't a proper keeper. An official referee came for the A's game, and to my surprise, there were only 2 fresh players who came in to play for the A's. I couldn't be bothered staying back to watch the game because I knew it was going to be one sided. The results look dodgy, but the fact is that Blue Nile didn't really care, and Ghan took advantage. Any team could have done the same. Let's not forget that in 2001, Australia thrashed American Samoa (World Cup qualifier) 31-0. Whether Blue Nile were third or bottom, once you miss 2 or 3 of your good players (in this league), you'll face the consequences. The SAASL can only go by the report submitted by the official ref. I know it hurts, but that's football. If the opponents don't care, why wouldn't you take advantage!!!!

So is there a possibility that Blue Nile played an ineligible player or Ghan lent Blue Nile player/s for the First Team game so the game wouldnt end up as a forfeit

Was there then an agreement that if Ghan lend Blue Nile players that a score could be contrived .......

interesting there are some first time posters on this one

All that could be based on assumptions, which again, wouldn't solve the problem unless there's a clear evidence. Given the fact that there was an official ref, only his report can give info to the league. Polonia have done the right thing trying to find out what went wrong. But I don't think there's much they can do if the ref doesn't say anything.

This forum is for everyone, and it doesn't matter whether it's the first or last time to post or make comments. Let's deal with things the way they are. I feel sorry for Polonia, but again, they gotta move on and prepare for next season. It didn't work for them this time.

You say the allegations are not correct, but you also say you didn't stay and watch the game because you couldn't be bothered. Appreciate the info but it doesn't really prove anything, it would be interesting to hear the manner in which the goals were scored, particularly if there were collectively over 25 in the second half as being reporting.

If the reserves team got thrashed, and the same players are up to play against the A's, what do you think would be the result? If they had a club's ref for the A's game, that could have a different story. But they had an official ref, and that ref officiated last Saturday during Wanderers vs Sturt reserves game. I'm not in support of cheating, but I'm just looking on the other side of the scenario.

approciate your comments....
would it be at all fair to say the in this case Blue nile literaly threw the game??
i mean, how is any other team meant to compete against a result which was not contrived accordingto the spirit of the game... ie , blue nile didnt competitively play to win..

Again mate, you say you didn't hang around, so your story isn't really worth much. I appreciate what you're saying but it's a rather piss-poor defence. 28-4 in anyone's books looks suss. If indeed you are correct in saying the team didn't care, didn't have numbers or even comparing it to the American Samoa scenario... how the hell did 4 goals end up the other end?

Something isn't right.

Hahaha, this could just go forever. Not every team in this amateur league really cares, to be honest. Especially when it comes to the end of the season. My conclusion was that the guys from Blue Nile didn't care and that's why their reserves played two games. Different assumptions could be made, but at the end of the day, the SAAL will only go with the ref's report. I would be furious if I was Polonia's player, but again, I won't have the power to change things or to get Blue Nile players to go and play. If Australia send their second best team to play against Brazil's first team, of course the result will double. I'm pretty sure the league finds the results dodgy, but again what can they do if there's no clear evidence?

If they didn't care about playing and/or didnt have the numbers then why didn't they just forfeit the game? Or forfeit the B game so they would have better numbers and fresher players for that A game? It dose suck to forfeit a game but its better than getting trashed and knowing it will happen! I enjoy playing but I would hate to lose reputation that way getting our asses kicked. It sucks playing teams that either like to cheat or just don't care about playing the game seriously. A big majority play every Sunday like they are in a premier league and that's the addituted every club no matter what Div or league you play in should be otherwise why be apart of that league!

as i said before, we still have another protest to re lodge against ghan for unreg players...
hopefully the league does something about that as it is much easier to make a call on unregistered players given proof, then deciding if a game was thrown or fixed..
If Ghan gets 3 points taken for either incident, Polonia are champions, payneham gets promo, and ghan stay in Div 4....
wether we end up champions or come second, Ghan and Blue nile are cheats... one has been proven and the other may well be very soon...

I was thinking the same thing. How on earth does a team that score 28, concede 4 in the same game. If Blue Nile only had 2 fresh players for the A game then the B game should've been forfeited. This club along with Ghan and AYS are a joke. They make a mockery of the whole SAASL and yet continue to get the support from the very organisation they're mocking.

SAASL websites has the results up as 28-4 and 19-1.. that would mean the team sheets have been received, sighted and filed.. i guess the results stand!

Was the game this weekend?

They couldn't have been received and dealt with already? Earliest they could have been received was about 2 hours ago.

Yeah, weekend just been. We haven't heard of the outcome regarding our protest. I still don't believe the results should have been posted whilst there is a pending protest. We haven't been told otherwise. But not a good sign.

im only going on the fact the website has been updated.. you wouldnt update the webiste purely based on results that were phoned through so i guess that means the team sheets have been received

The SAASL updated and posted the results late yesterday arvo. I don't know how they went about it whether they just went by the phone in results or the official paper work but it was up and if they go by the paper work form the refs then they all must have come in yesterday. I will say that this is the first time I've seen them get the results up that quickly!

paperwork has to be posted in, so earliest it could have arrived was this morning. So, they must have gone on the phone call and not the paperwork. The same with the advertiser.

don't think they would be official just because they're on the website, earlier this season they have had results around the wrong way to what they actually were.

Does the referee have anything to answer for in all this? Sounds suss from his end also. This could be like the Calcio scandal of 2006. With that being said, Italy went on to win the world cup, so I'll put a lazy $50 on Ghan to win it all next season too!

I think this might be a bad joke by the 2 clubs involved. They have phoned in some scores that will get people talking and ruin a good night for Polonia. SUrely the official scores will have 20 or so less goals scored.

Damage has been done anyway what ever the correct scores were.

Appreciate the info but it doesn't really prove anything, it would be interesting to hear the manner in which the goals were scored, particularly if there were collectively over 25 in the second half as being reporting.

25 goals in the 2nd half = a goal EVERY 108 seconds - picking the ball out the back of the net - forming back up - referee recording the goalscorers - the defending team obviously has to lose the ball before away we go lets score another goal - obviously the ball never went out for a throw in, goal kick or corner as that would eat up valuable seconds. Stoppages for free kicks? was there any.

I know for a fact if it were my team or any other team we have played in the past - if we are getting or giving a pasting we would all try as best we could to wind the clock down, "wouldn't we"?

Kick them both out!

Heard it all now... A few weeks ago everyone was moaning people shouldn't forfeit and this team doesn't do that! Fair enough if all this turns out to be a bit of a bad practical joke but if not good on them playing 2 games for there club and not forfeiting!
