BIG WEEKEND AT FULHAM COMING UP

Post by bigpond »

What a weekend we have at Fulham coming up.

As an entree to the main course we have the Sat Div 5 team from Fulham on Sat needing to beat Mt Lofty convincingly to claim the title on goal difference.

Mt Lofty are a good young side so Fulham will have there work cut out but will give it everything it has - 11.30 kick off for this game on Saturday and 3 official refs have been allocated for this game.

Then the main course on Sunday when Fulham, who have come from no where have its own cup final type game with West Beach in a derby that has Div 1 survival riding on it for both sides - Fulham must win and Beach need a point to stay up.

Kick off is 3pm and anyone not involved in the cup semis should come down and see what will be a great battle - get there early as if you don't you will probably have to park at the Target Shopping Centre as a huge crowd is expected and why not with so much riding on this game.

Just to put themselves in this position from where Fulham were 5 weeks ago has been an incredible effort and if Fulham survive it will go down as 1 of the great Fulham escapes - right up there with the day Fulham beat Florina 2-1 on the last day when Florina were still in the title hunt and Fulham were given no chance of staying up but did with a win that day.

I wouldn't be holding my breath but I hope for your sake Mount Lofty turn up. On the weekend only 7 made the trip down to Munno Para and they received no communication from the other 5 blokes they were expecting to play and none would answer their phones.
Never before have I been involved in a league where my team has struggled to get two games in a row and this really derailed our season.
It would be a sour but fitting way for the title race to end in this division, a forfeit signalling more frustrations and leaving a bad taste in everyones mouth. Fingers crossed for you guys.

Sunday, would have liked to have watched this game but most will head to Hindmarsh. Silly time to fixture it

You guys sound like you have copped the rough end of the stick.

We have not had a team not show up all season - been in touch with Mt Lofty and they will be there Saturday.

There pitch not up to scratch and were more than happy to shift the fixture to our ground as well.

Why?

Neither team is in the semi wo why wait 2 weeks - it is logical for it to be this Sunday.

You should change your club name to Wigan.

Because it clashes with the semi finals, the following week is a free catch up week. The potential for an even bigger crowd too.

Mate there will be a big crowd there regardless and West Beach and Fulham dont want a week off just to get more people down there - our barman is already stressing this week as it is :D

Bravo to Mount lofty willing to travel 50 clicks to keep the fixture alive. I know of some clubs that wouldn't even travel 500 yards up the road. :?

How is it going to be big when all you'll probably get is the fulham/west beach crowd? Unless of course you're putting on your theatrics on the side line again.....

Tell your barman no different from any other sunday,

No idea mate.

For starters I am sure West Beach will have ALL there teams there including there over 35's to support them on the day - not a usual day where players play and then some have to leave etc - I am sure all will allow 3 hours to go and show there support as will all the Fulham teams who are also not playing on the day.

Secondly we have programmed our under 17's game who are playing Adelaide Hills as a curtain raiser and they will be hanging around with all there families to support Fulham.

Thirdly we have no SSG and only a few other junior games on in the monring and all the Fulham juniors have been advised of the big day it is and a number of parents/juniors will be attending to support the Seniors as well as they have already indicated.

Lastly we are putting on a spit to feed all these people which we dont normally have on a normal Sunday.

I can guarantee it wil be the biggest crowd of the season by far.

Wont be hard given Collins Reserve has been a ghost town all season for their homes games

Should be a cracking game with a lot at stake........I might even pop down as a neutral. Good luck to both teams. Fulham in a close one 2-1 to keep their run going & retain their place in Div 1

you guys are lucky befor we played Fulham we had 1 game in 5 weeks due to forfeits and cup round and yes it does leave a bad taste with ACU Falcons and Angle Vale both forfeiting against us at home we lost any chance of scoring valuable goals and that now could cost us the title

And Fulham and Cove both played One Tree Hill and Flinders once and also both had forfeits 2nd time against them but Fulham lost over 10 goals with there teams being taken out and especially Flinders as of 4pm Friday.

You guys apart from Sat had never scored 5 goals more than once where Fulham has 7 times and before our game we had only 1 game in 4 weeks - in all this if anyone has had the short end of the straw it has been Fulham.

Big game for Fulham against Mount Lofty-need to score 6 clear goals...but if goal difference the same comes down to goals scored...and if all equal..then goes alphabetical....are we known as Cove???? (not The cove)!!

Maybe if that is the case could look at the aggregate score between the Cove and Fulham over the two games played??

But am sure it wont come down to that......surely???

Fulham has done well to claw its way back but its luck will run out Sunday.

Beach supporters to be out in force and Beach to end Fulhams run - 3-1 to Beach.

befor Friday you guys had a few goals advantage after friday we did so we were pretty even on goals,we beat ACU and Vale 5-0 and were only given 2-0 for their forfeits you got to play them and score your 4and 8 if Lofty forfeited you'd feel robbed, thats my point good luck on weekend.

Well done Mt Lofty.

Confirmed today they will be at Fulham 100% with a team - to finish on a forfeit would have left a bad taste.

Hopefully most of the boys can stay for the feed after the game Fulham is putting on for both teams - coach has indicated most of the boys will.

The entree was served today for the big weekend at Fulham and what an entree it was.

12-2 win over Mt Lofty who came to Fulham with a full contingent.

The Fulham boys were inspired today and were driven like I have never seen before - so proud of all of them as when it needed to be delivered they delivered and with some quality.

Cheers to Mt Lofty and hope the keepers ankle is ok.

Disappointing to see the Cove boys leave at half time - they would have been more than welcome to stay behind and enjoy the feed and drinks Fulham put on and reflect on the season - Cove were unlucky but there can only be 1 Sat Div 5 champion and for 2013 it is Fulham.

Sets it up for the main course tomorrow and hopefully the boys can continue the momentum and get over the line.

Good win guys and in the end you done what you had to do....

I think in review you guys won the league the day you beat us at your place....to me you guys wanted it more and it showed in the first half.

So a big well done!

I am pretty sure we are moving up to Div 4 next year and having A's and B's and turning the pitch around so we have a decent sized pitch.

Any chance you guys can move up to and we can continue the rivalry?
