Sunday Div 2 Rnd 18 Predictions

Post by I am Costanza »

After picking 4 out of 4 last week (excluding Brahma where I don't tip) surely what I write below will be gospel.... lets forget the weeks I usually get zero!

TTG vs Sals Florina -
TTG will love nothing more than halting Florina in their quest for the title but Florina have been the best team we have seen all year and deserve the crown. Still think it will be a close one 0-1

Munno Para vs Para Hills East -
Reckon Munno Para will be too strong and Easties obviously used up all their luck in front of goal last week against Beograd 3-0

Beograd vs Eliz Grove -
Leading goal scorer for the season could be decided in this game depending which Beograd side shows up. If they play like they did against Florina it could be a good game but I doubt it 1-4

Para Hills Lions vs Blue Eagles -
This is my tip for a draw this round. Para Hills have steadily improved and will be much better for it in 2014. Blue Eagles can be good but concentration levels hurt them last week 1-1

Brahma Lodge vs Southern Knights -
Looking forward to sharing a few bevvies with the Southerners before, during and after the games. Our lads will be out to make things hard for Knights who need to win and cross their fingers to become champions

Florina 1-1. Will be a tight fought game with Gully pushing Knights last week and only losing under questionable circumstances, so this game should go down to the wire with the Gully lads looking to finish the season on a high.

East 2-1. Quality beats physicality, and for that reason I reckon East will get up.

Grove 3-1. Grove are good enough to have finished second and are really ruing that poor start to the season.

Eagles 2-1. Lions keeper is a standout week after week and will keep this one close. I wouldn't discount and upset win for lions here however i think with eagles playing for survival they'll get over the line, just.

Brahma 2-1. Knights to suffer a reality check and struggle big time in Div 1 next year unless they bolster their squad somewhat.

TTG v Florina- Unfortunately Florina to win in a canter to a very inexperienced Gully side, who have a lot of huff and puff, but no real cutting edge

Para v East - Draw just can't separate them

Beograd v Grove - well done for the Beograd boys restoring some pride to their club. Unfortunately lost too many good players and Grove have been the big improvers

Eagles v Lions - Eagles are better than their position suggests and should do this one fairly easily

Brahma v Knights - A draw but with TTG getting done again, not enough for the Knights - will enjoy a good day out and a few cheeky beers though

Not so much for Florina, they look an accomplished side and will handle the jump back up far better than the Knights will. Just a personal insight from the two times we've played Knights they've only just scraped through with the points (against a side that was only just promoted from division 3 last season) and in both circumstances we probably should have at least snatched a draw if not for our finishing. They wouldn't be in the top 3 sides we've played against, falling behind Florina, Grove & PHE. But like I said that's only judging from the two matches they've played against us, we might just happen to have good match ups player wise against them.

No point getting into the whole -'who should have won', issue, fact is we beat you twice, not sure if PHE would agree with your assessment either, however I do agree, Florina were too good for us twice and Grove took 4 points from a possible 6. Therefore I agree, we need several new players for next year, although on our day (with a full squad) looked the goods. Equally I think Florina have it in the bag, as your long ball game won't phase them

Good luck next year and one way or the other we will probably see you again in 2015!

After 18 rounds the ladder doesnt lie

end of the day Florina and Knights will be promoted. While any club that gets promoted also knows they must improve their squad list for the following year if they want to stay competitive ...

I already know of a few Federation players that live down south that have asked about Southern Knights for next year .

Hrmmm i dunno.. the first time easties were 2-0 up until they had a player sent off werent they? and the second game easties were right in the game (2-1 down and pushing hard for an equaliser) until the send off. both times you ended up with 5 goals, cant argue that part though hahaha!

Player wan't sent off until after Knights equalised in the first game but the send-offs did change things in both games...but that's the way it goes.
Knights have had their share of injuries, send offs (4) and suspensions this season....haven't seen one of the guys since his send off at Florina I (I thought he might have giving the League B&F a run up to that point :( )...think he got disillusioned and frustrated with the whole thing. All swings and roundabouts....
One big lesson to take into the Premier Division is to not focus on, or get distracted by, referees and their decisions.

Sorry I didn't think that suggesting you wouldn't agree that you were better than the Knights this year was offensive given the fact our aggregate score was 10-3 and were currently 13 points ahead. However your both right, we have been very lucky all year and but for Beograd almost folding would possibly have been relegated if a few lucky bounces hadn't gone our way
