For the good of the game? Or is it about the rich stacking their nest.ok to make the junior game elitist, but should we help the game to improve overall.sod the rest attitude starting to show through.

Re: New Junior Structure 2014
Seeing as clubs have already set their fees for next year, have they taken into consideration that there will be 6 more home games per age group x6 age groups requiring 36 more referee fees

But are the juniors actually going to be playing the same number of matches as the Seniors?
The FFSA says one of the greatest benefits in aligning juniors with seniors is every team in one club plays every team in an opposing club on the same weekend. Saves on volunteers, more money in canteen etc etc
Now we hear that the junior season may start well after the seniors. Huh?
So now they are not going to be following the seniors every week?
And what happens when playing against clubs that don't have a team in every age group? Do those teams have byes instead?
While sending out the discussion paper is a good thing, the fact that it contains NO DETAILS as to how the leagues will be run - whether teams are playing for points - if there is a table for every age group - will a cup competition still be run and if so, should there not now be two cup competitions?
There are so many unanswered questions I wonder if they are making it up as they go along.
Re: New Junior Structure 2014
This is something we as a senior non aligned FFSA club are working on offering as well(a few things fall into place an we will offer in 2014) yet we can't have a JPL side?...We have the space, the coaches(all going well) as well?????Željko Jurin wrote: So if our facilities allow more teams, and we have good coaches in place, we are going to tell kids that have been at our club for 6-7 years 'sorry, you need to go to a SL club to make them stronger, and we don't know if their coach is any good?'
What we are working to is more beneficial to the kids than having a senior side in the PL but we can't have a JPL side????
Welcome to the SL and our world
Good to see you finally claiming an unfair though

Certainly would help the SL clubs if it did go ahead.
The PL clubs would never agree to this as the Fees from their "extras" are far to important....
Let's see what PL clubs actually agree for this to happen....
So if our facilities allow more teams, and we have good coaches in place, we are going to tell kids that have been at our club for 6-7 years 'sorry, you need to go to a SL club to make them stronger, and we don't know if their coach is any good?'

I grew up at Raiders, i drive halfway across the city to take my lad there, 4yrs now. Why should i be forced to go elsewhere if we have the players and coaches. He hopes to make the jpl team there, but if he doesn't, he has told me he would rather play jsl at Raiders than jpl with any other team.

Which club are you from, Fulham? If you don't have a Senior club in the FFSA competition, not only will your juniors not be in the junior premier league, but they won't be in the junior state league either, they will be in the third tier of the junior competition instead.
Re: New Junior Structure 2014
I realise this but the post I responded to was about good coaching and space for them to play.....Why does having a side in the PL guarantee a child the best chance at furthering their game.themessenger wrote:Steve#4 wrote:This is something we as a senior non aligned FFSA club are working on offering as well(a few things fall into place an we will offer in 2014) yet we can't have a JPL side?...We have the space, the coaches(all going well) as well?????Željko Jurin wrote: So if our facilities allow more teams, and we have good coaches in place, we are going to tell kids that have been at our club for 6-7 years 'sorry, you need to go to a SL club to make them stronger, and we don't know if their coach is any good?'

Linking this as the FFSA are trying to do is wrong.....Forget my club...What about if west Adelaide didn't get promoted, why should they not be allowed to have JPL sides if they have the right coaching structure?
What about Cove and their announcement about their Junior Development earlier in the season? because their firsts aren't in the PL they can't enter a JPL side.
My club is a small fish in a medium sized pond so forget that at this point as we are at this point a 2nd cousin if you will....It seems the FFSA family seem to favour some of there siblings while the rest can go fly a kite....Nice way to run a family.
Re: New Junior Structure 2014
I was told a few weeks ago this now won't be going ahead because the coach who was getting it up and running has gone to Raiders to be a senior assistant! can anyone from the cove confirm?Steve#4 wrote:What about Cove and their announcement about their Junior Development earlier in the season?

Re: New Junior Structure 2014
matty2323, one of your arguments is that kids will leave because they dont want the 2 hours plus travel having to play all the southern teams...as you say PL teams are all in the CBD which is an advantage with less travel.
here are some numbers I crunched:
the closest PL team to Playford is Para Hills
I assume all your kids will flock there
In a 30 game season you will have 15 away games. Ill pretend they are all at Seaford (the furthest of the southern sides, helping you out here by ignoring your fixtures against Salisbury, Eastern United etc)
So, a return trip to Seaford is 130km. Do this 15 times a year and your juniors have to travel a whopping 1950km in a season!!
Now theyll say bugger that, we're going to Para Hills
Lets say 30 playing weeks and Ill throw in 10 weeks of preseason. Thats 40 weeks at 2 nights per week = 80 trips.
A round trip to Para Hills (the closest PL team) is 30km. Therefore total kms travelled in the season (just to Para Hills) is 2400kms!!!
Now you can tell all your juniors that by staying at Playford you can save them at least 550kms of travel!!!
Not to mention Raiders where theyll be sucking even more juice (and money - since they also cant afford it)
My gut feel?... everything will be ok mate

Seaford, Noarlunga, Cove, Hills, Sturt. You are talking about a 30 minute round trip for training twice a week compared to 2-2-1/2 hour plus round trips every second week, on weekends, on peoples days off. Then you are assuming that all Playfords players live in Devoran Park. Most would already be travelling a certain distance. At our club at least 50% would travel 15km or more to go to training. I suspect many or most would have a similar situation. Travelling from TTG or Playford to get to Para Hills, Probably already happens. When brother plays footy and Sunday and sister plays basketball on Sunday families are screwed.

also not "every 2nd week"
peoples days off? What has that got to do with anything?
so if they are happy to travel extra distances for training already, what does 5 longer distance away games a year matter?
i haven't seen this much hysteria since that prediction of a tsunami that was supposed to hit Adelaide! Lucky we had don dunston standing at the end of glenelg jetty calling BS.

Are you likening yourself to a modern day Don Dunstan? I think it's easy to be dismissive of what's happening when your club only stands to benefit from it. It's a bit different being on the receiving end.

What has people time off got to do with anything? Seriously mate, a majority of parents are in it for their kids but may not want to be tied to soccer on a Sunday all day. If the sport is made accessible the parents will say, sorry son this is rediculous, play footy. Not every adult, probably even most are not married to soccer, make it easier not harder.El Paso del Norte wrote:is your last sentence a reference to your first sentence?Abra1 wrote:Are you likening yourself to a modern day Don Dunstan? Not true because SSF will not come under the same jurisdiction, so while Under 12-17 teams may follow the seniors, All SSF teams will not. it says in the dicsussion paper that SSF will remain zonal, so this arguement goes out the window! Clubs will still need volunteers everyweek, and in some clubs cases, SSf numbers are more than U12-17 numbers.
