Means more than that to the Modbury folk mate. Im sure they'd, including yourself would be saying exactly the same thing if you were in our position, and rightly so. As for the Stirling folk, they dont really care, as long as they make love to their cows.
Goes without saying that we want to win every single game, even when I coached Div 4 Reserves that was still the case.

Win your game and other results don't matter and that's why I don't see why such a big deal is being made.
To be fair, GIAE, in this case its not as simple as just winning their game. They don't know whether a 1-0 win will be enough or if they have to win 3-0. If you were them and leading 1-0 with 15 minutes to go, would you go for the extra goals and risk exposing your defence or defend the lead to ensure the win?

Same as not knowing the score from another ground then.

Sorry but some people seem to think they're playing in the EPL.

As i have said many times, in England our season would sometimes finish a month earlier/later than others. I can remember watching a particular team 3 weeks in a row waiting for them to slip up so we would win the league. We accepted we play a shit level of football where it's just not a big deal.

Sorry, just giving you the opinion from a country where the sport is bigger and played on a much larger scale and people don't think they're great because they play in a 2 bob amateur league.

Surely you know by now I'm just teasing, and you don't have to respond to every comment I post.

However, I do agree with your last comment 100% (and not afraid to say it! ), but there are "some people" (you and others), on this forum that have been guilty of carrying on like it is the EPL. Just sayin. :D

I agree with your point here mate. Not knowing the other results will play on Cougers minds as it would for any team in this situation. Do they go for a 3 nil result and open themselves up for a counter attack or do they play the game on its Merritt and just try and get a result no matter how close the score is.

Can't see them not conceding a goal on Saturday mind you

It does not matter whether its Div 2! Its a competition, and it needs to be fair for all teams involved.

So, when do you propose stirling should play their catch up games?

Well obviously its too late now! all im saying is there has been plenty of time for the stirling -mod catch up. But nothing was done about it. the league did nothing to push this game. From a competitive perspective, this is not fair for teams involved in the promotion battle.

When have their been all these opportunities?

Only possible times would have meant stirling giving up home advantage, is that fair?

Mid Week, Cup round. Discussions between clubs to potentially play away (whether they feel its fair). A neutral ground could have been proposed.

Cup round was not available to Jets.

Neutral ground/midweek would have been unfair to stirling to have to give up their home advantage.

Either way, it's "unfair" to someone.

The issue is the League did not give direction or set a date. They are quite happy to take money from clubs, but have not been proactive to avoid situations like these.

Did Modbury or Stirling Recieve direction from the League?

We wanted to play our reserves match with Jets on that same cup weekend they had a 'club function' but obviously got the same excuse. Personally I think it was because GIAE didn't want to finally meet me, and still have his 'travelling interstate' jibes to use against me on here.

Serious question though, what was the club event that it would stop a couple matches from being played? Aren't most club events at night? We were devastated not to get the extra 3 points. :D

not as far as I'm aware, maybe they (like other sensible people) fail to see it as a big deal.

So, when would you propose that the league should have set a directive for the game to be played. Now bear in mind that it would be unfair to disadvantage either stirling or modbury either.

your club was told on the day that the cup round was not an option for the reserves catch up match. If you'd bothered to turn up you'd have known that.

The event was an all weekend thing.

Big Deal or not...the point here is that it is "unfair" to someone. Competitions need to be fair. No matter what excuse there is, club function etc etc....with good club / league communication and organisation, we would not be discussing this right now.

New rules need to be created for this, something for the AGM.

I'd propose that the game must be played on Tuesday / Wednesday immediately following the postponed game. First preference is to play on the home team's pitch, and if still unplayable due to weather then second preference is a neutral pitch that is not affected by the weather.

Club function? Public Holiday? Birthday? Serbian Orthodox Easter? Bad luck!

So they'd lose home advantage if the don't have lights - seems a little unfair. Assuming it would be an evening kick off. Why not same kick off at normal saturday times - bad luck if people have to work.

Yes. They need to be punished for being sissies and not playing in a bit of water. You saw the Vipers v Modbury game... We're all alive.
