It was awesome at the MCG and just as special with the tribute to Shanks last night. Loved the KOP's tribute to the man who is essentially the founder of what we are now.
I'm sure if Sakho, Moses and Ilori were wondering if they were making the right move, it was answered with a real passion and verve last night as they watched in the stands.
Good to see Kolo in there with them, especially Sakho as he might not speak English so Kolo will probably take him under his wing.

Great 1st half with and without the ball, 2nd half less so with the ball but did enough to get the points. RVP and Carrick both very lucky to have played the 90. Aspas not up to that pace of game yet but Suarez will take his place anyway, and Raheem still lacks strength and 1st touch, which is where Moses will come in either off the bench or starting, which will bring Hendo back in to the mix for the CM possies (which is where he is more effective but will he displace Lucas?)

So long as Johno is no more than a day or 2 we'll be happy all week.
I think Lucas will hold his position. I was abusing him after that foolish challenge at the death but other than that he was more than serviceable. We were a wee bit susceptible to the cross last night. The keeper was solid but something about him worries me. That move on welbeck although funny, was completely inappropriate. Had we conceded to the filth due to that I would've been devastated. 3 clean sheets though, suppose I shouldn't complain too much.

Moyes trying to play narrow football with some of the best wingers in the league...

Takes Young off just as he starts playing well, plays Valencia at RB and Nani at RW when he has smalling on the bench.

Kagawa? the only CAM they have? I'm guessing he was injured, otherwise he has no idea what he's doing.

The Man United fans on Facebook were hilarious last night. "The worst footballl we've played in years, dreadful"

What did they expect Tiki Taka from Moyes? Lol..

He was asked about Kagawa after the game, his reply... "I chose Nani over Kagawa"

I thought in the first half Giggs did well, his control etc were good. He faded in the second, but at HT they said he was awful!

As for RVP, except for the half chance at the end, did he touch the ball second half?

For all the sitting back we did, UTD didn't offer as much as you would expect from the Champions.

Neither team was great, but I am not complaining with 3 points!

And I really think us being a one man team rubbish can now be put to bed.

This ban so far is 7 wins and one draw.

1-0 (Sturridge) - 3 on the trot now. Like it. 8)

One must feel for Moyes though - such a difficult first up fixture list to contend with. Lets hope they get a nice easy draw for the ECL.

Yeah, he really is out of his depth.

Love it.

I think he actually went to Anfield looking for the draw. ManU fans could nto be happy with that kind of attitude... SAF was never that adventerous at Anfield, but would always set his side up to score a goal or two. If ManU are out of the top 4 by Christmas, Moyes will get sacked.

I hope not. I'd much rather it be a long, painful death.

The slide has begun...bigger tanks and more ammunition than when he visited while in charge at Everton yet they play the same way if not worse.

United players don't look hungry, seemed subdued - there was no urgency to their play last night...Liverpool were up for it, United were not and deserved the win.

Ohhh well...atleast with a 6 year deal Moyes will have a nice payout.

Very happy with the win last night!

Defence looks really solid but I think we need more firepower, can't keep relying on Sturridge to score all our goals. Hopefully Suarez comes back and all of a sudden Liverpool's attack looks rather strong.

fucking ace transfer window..

Toure, Agger, Skrtel, Sakho, Johnson, Enrique, Ilori, Kelly, Wisdom.. fine mix of defenders there..

Gerrard, Lucas, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Alberto.. the weight is on Allen and Henderson but they are coming up the ranks.. Teixeira could be ready for some first team minutes this season which would be fantastic.

Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Moses, Ibe, Aspas.. not a bad strike force with Assaidi to Stoke and Borini out on loan to Sunderland good for everyone, hopefully he scores many for Di Canio and comes back better for it.

anyone else keeping up with Almeria? love watching Suso there, love having a smaller Spanish team to watch every week. he opened the first few games with assists I'm pretty sure, playing LW/RW, great young player.

Suso and Pacheco: so much technical ability, and both (particularly Pacheco) have great records at youth internationals, just very mindful they are going the same way of Sinama and Le Tallec. They need to be chucked in to the LFC 1st more often rather than going on loan. Shining in Spain is very different to doing it in EPL.

Too late for Pacheco, he's gone for good. After his golden boot in u/19 euro a few years ago it's a disappointing end for him at the club.

5 first team central defenders, 2 brought in on the last day. Thought Skrtel might go, but now I think Rodgers might change formation to the 3-4-3 he talked about last season.

----------Mignolet

-----Toure--Agger--Sahko
(Ilori)

Johnson--Lucas--Gerrard--Cissokho
(Henderson)

---Suarez-------Coutinho
---------Sturridge

With Suarez to come back, looks like the strongest LFC squad for quite some time. Consistency is now what to focus on to stay in the top 4. Those days of dominating games and drawing or losing have to end.

Im suprised Skrtel is the last picked of your 5 central defenders?

Looked good against Man Utd & in that form i'd have him in front of Kolo at the very least.

He looked good I agree, but that's becuase we defended so deep and he didn't need to carry the ball and play out of the back.
I think Toure is an all round better option if we play a higher line, his pace isn't bad for a 32yo.

Toure should be ahead of Skrtel at this point, although I've got no problem at all with Skrtel playing.

I think, given Rodgers' comments after Sakho signed, that we'll see him at left back for the time being. Hopefully Johnson is fit for the Swansea game.

I'm oddly excited about the signing of Moses too.

I Thought Rafa wanted him at Napoli based on his ability to do exactly that.
Still probably better than our current alternatives.

This is all very ironic - I have been so used to Liverpool fans living in the past and now they are living too far in the future!

News flash - RELAX! You have only played three games!

Good start to the season. Great to see that your defensive side has improved and we have added to it. We have brought in some good players and I'm looking forward to seeing Suarez coming into the squad. Lucas is a beast.

Liverpool have made a good start to the season but there are still 35 matches to be played and anything could happen.

Rodgers still has to sort out the mess left by the previous owners and managers but he should slowly start to make a real impact on the EPL and make the Premiership his single goal for this season.

ManUre have had a patchy start to the season but it will take a long time for Moyes to step out of Fergie's shadow.

Many of his squad have never played 1st team football under any other manager and will have to learn how to deal with the changes and get out of their comfort zone.

Quite a few of the squad were living on their reputations under Fergie and will probably be moved on by the end of the season - either to other clubs or the Old Footballer's Home.

Liverpool looking good so far. The key will be whether they turn home draws into home wins this season. Dropping too many points at home in games they've dominated have cost them dearly in seasons past.
