Are issuing cards different when a keeper is at fault
Saw a player sent of yesterday (straight red) for grappling with a striker while heading towards the box. Deemed last man so sent off.
Next game of the day the keeper shirt fronted a striker when he pushed the ball past him (keeper was the last man). Penalty was given but no card at all.
Is is different when the keeper is the lastman and he impedes a goal scoring opportunity?

The LOTG say nothing about a last man, but question if it is an obvious scoring chance. Pushing a ball past a keeper to and almost impossible scoring angle is not an obvious scoring chance. At the end of the day it's the referee's interpretation of the situation.

Just refreshed my self on the rules and I get what your saying. In that context i can see the ref not cautioning the player eve though i believe he would have score if not fouled (but that is an opinion) Cheers for the clarity.Adolf Hĩtler wrote:The LOTG say nothing about a last man, but question if it is an obvious scoring chance. Ok, here's one to all u wanna be refs out there...
some relevance to this question actually.
if a field player stops the ball from going into his net with his hands that is a red card for denying goal scoring opp and a penalty.
if a gk has the ball in hand bounces it and loses control of the ball and then stops it from rolling into his net with his hands what is the sanction and what is the restart?
good luck!

Re: Are issuing cards different when a keeper is at fault
I am not shore about the card but I would give a Yellow card and restart with a indirect free kick to the attacking team team.

If the GK is bouncing the ball he/she is deemed to be in possession, even if he/she momentarilly loses control of the ball.
When the GK regains control no offence has occured (unless this is more than 6 seconds after GK originally took possession)
therefore play on and no cards (or ID free kick if breached 6 sec rule).
Also am interested when you say some relevance to the Q - i've been around a while and have never seen a GK come close to bouncing the ball into his own goal?!

Not bouncing... Loses control... Try again...

if he loses control and picks it up before it rolls in the net then it's an IDFK to the opposing team but there would be no caution or red card. Denying the Goal scoring Opportunity only comes into the play for offences punishable by a direct free kick.

yes I agree. I don't think a red card is necessary in this kind of sitaution.molmax wrote:I am not shore about the card but I would give a Yellow card and restart with a indirect free kick to the attacking team team.
