Olympic are clearly too good for reserves so why wouldn't they?
They struggled to make two teams at the start of this year and haven't exactly had a successful season.. What makes you think Cumberland will have such a turn around?

So where are Olympics Junior and reserve teams coming from??? dont you need them as well to have a Premier Team.

Unless they do a huge recruitment drive I dont see Olympic in Prems..

If Olympic went to Prems without a reserve side wouldn't you have
the same problem as last season when Sturt were in prems and
Adelaide Hills were a reserve side. I know it worked last season but
you can't be sure it would work again. I am sure FFSA wouldn't just say Cumby
you won't be in Prems because you didn't have a great season.

I think it is more a matter of whether or not Cumberland will be able to fill two senior squads! The ffsa made Sturt Marion play in the premier division when they clearly weren't at that standard, yet Olympic are dominating the reserve league and would give a couple of this years premier sides a run for their money, so why wouldn't they....

Wasn't this thread about coaches? But as far as Olympic goes next year I thought they were going to be under West Adelaide's name and therefore have more chance of getting juniors and reserves.

This is my understanding of it too.

But is it the case there are not enough numbers for the teams?
last 3 seasons we have seen a prems team drop out, regroup for a year or so then c
come back.

25 players on sportingpulse having played for them this year...don't think numbers will be an issue.

Parahills united may be there next year as I see they are top of Div 1, Have reserve numbers and most of all junior teams established. So looks like there is a new team in the prems for next year will just be a question of who will move down to fit them in.

If I understand it that the bottom or two bottom teams (cumby and Knights) move down a division and the top two (Parahills united and Salisbury inter) move up or is it just one (cumby for parahills) or is it reputation based.

Also I was told you have to have a junior team to be in the prems league, so wouldn't that rule out Olympic and ensure parahills united a spot.

sorry unsure of way they promote in the womens as I am in the junior system

Biggest issue is having two premier league clubs essentially next door to each other

PHU have done the hard by going through the leagues and deserve a chance.

Salisbury Inter dont have any junior girls i dont believe...

Would like to see both go up though, would be a good boost for womens soccer in the north.

Perhaps South Adelaide and Stirling to go up as well, get premier league at a good number of clubs again.

Correct, and this is not likely to change any time soon as the club is restricted by a lack of facilities.
They would also seriously struggle to fill a reserves team. They may have the numbers but these girls aren't interested in playing at that kind of level.
PHU do have the required junior set up in place, and the club probably has a bit more ambition and would be a more realistic chance of going into prems. Their depth may still be a question, but their top few players are certainly good enough and they have a pool of youngsters to draw from.

Apologies for my blunt assessment on this point (and generalisation) however, females in this sport do not have a great track record and longevity. Yes yes yes I know Tracey was at SM however not there anymore. We've had Bec Hepworth (gonski), Sarah baker (gone), may be one or two others.

My point is this....girls/women need to be reatined and not lost to the game if it is to turn around. They need to become the coaches and managers and administrators. NEED OWNERSHIP.

So Tracey is the sum total of females coaching in the women’s sport in SA? Go back over the last decade and in all aspects of this sport, female coaches are far and few between. Sad state of affairs when they can’t support their own. Bess H was only an example of SASI and FFSA trying to push her case along and although she was a great person and engaged many people 10/10 she was however, not a coach.

What are we aiming for here ? Whats an acceptable percentage if you want to put a number on it ?

The division I am involved in, there are 3 female coaches of the 8 teams in the league. I think thats a healthy number.

I see a young female coach is involved with the SSG ( u9 and u11 ) at one club. Excellent to see.

At STIC there are 2 female coaches / assistant coaches. Not particularly high, but a step in the right direction.

There are some who are willing to step up and 'take ownership'. Sad Girl, get out to the grass roots and take a look. You may be surprised what you see if you open your eyes a little wider.

Discussion around here focuses on the higher leagues. Correct me if I’m wrong. It’s the top end that’s a problem and the area that needs the greater need. NO disrespect, its like comparing the A-League with collegiate league (maybe not a fair comparison but you get the gist). Not sure if I’ve seen a coach from a lower league pursue opportunities at the higher league. A tad like players from those lower leagues.

Again I think we who provide comment on such topics should preface it with “applicable to the premier league….”

Yes I do have my eyes open however, it’s the top end f town that I’m concerned about.

So SAD GAL, which matches have you gone to recently...which club are you involved with at the moment?? What is your involvement in the game recently??

Maybe you might like to support somewhere with your expertise... Im sure we would love your help around one of the clubs with all your knowledge on how things can and will improve.

I've always encouraged the most experienced players in my squad to take sessions in my absence, and I'd love one of them to become my assistant one day.

We also have a lot of senior players take junior sessions or take teams for the season.

Sad Gal - have you ever considered coaching yourself? From that position, you could actually achieve a lot of what you're saying is wrong.
