Broadmeadows Football Club.

Post by Broadmeadows »

Broadmeadows Football Club are seeking expressions of interest for the following roles for season 2014 and onwards.

* Head Coach
* Assistant Coach
* All Players

Broadmeadows have contacted the league and are in the final stages of securing a home ground with adequate facilities.

We are looking to compete in the Saturday competitions with the number of players we can secure determining the division we play in.

Please forward any legitimate queries or applications to our inbox on this forum or to our email provided below.

Cheers, Broadmeadows Football Club.

Is this the old Broadmeadows Soccer Club that is being re-established? With the same grounds they had back in the late 80's/early 90's?

No, we wish to start fresh with a clean slate.

We hope to have no pre-conceived notion of our identity.

I'm quite new to the amateur league and do not know a great amount of it's past.

We plan to play in Smithfield but will not elaborate where as it's not 100 % locked in.

Well, you won't be short of local derbies playing around there!

That said, best of luck with it; hope it all goes well :)

Don't most of the clubs in that area play on sundays?

Yes, most of them do.

With us playing Saturday's we are hoping to offers those who can't or dont want to play Sundays the opportunity to play Saturdays.

Remember beating them in a reserves cup final at Polonia Reserve (Adelaide Eagles) in late 80's or early 90's maybe.

In the late 80's they use to play in like a purple colour before they changed to royal blue,always a good competitive side. They also hosted an end of season carnival for local saasl clubs that were in their division or lower.
Smithfield use to play in the red /black - a northern suburbs Sat team will be interesting...good luck with it all.

Hmmm ... long course of learn-to-read needed by me, I think. Saturdays ...

(Still ... won't be short of the odd friendly for pre-season, nice and close by!)

Not to mention the Olivers, Whites and Elliots and Big Jimmy Leonard who had lots to do with the Broady boys....Broadmeadows in a way gave birth to the Downs juniors many, many years ago... Tony Goode (coached by his Father and Downs co-founder Sid Goode) played for Broadmeadows before the Downs school opened in 1963.

I was a Broadmeadows boy and remember filling in for many ages on Saturdays, then the downs and the KENYON clan got me over the other side of main north road .

Not to mention Morgan Crow, Daniel Oliver, Simon Mathieson, Robert (Dobbo) Howe, Big Kev, all the Bell brothers, Jamie Oliver, Ben Moore, Danny Harman and a host of other Broadmeadows juniors who went on to make a name for themselves in local state football.
