Southern Knights ( 5 ) Para Hills East ( 1 )
Tom Foglia 2
Robert Marsden
Scott Bradley
David Mooney
A fairly balanced game until an already undermanned Para Hills East had a player red carded leaving them with only 10 on the park....a fairly harsh decision considering the honest hard nature of the game.
Robert Marsden opened the scoring for Knights after a great build up but East managed to level the game at 1-1. Within a minute Tom Foglia had put Knights back in front beating East keeper at the near post. I think it was 3-1 to Knights courtesy of Scott Bradley and the East were reduced to 10 men.
Tom Foglia added his second and also hit the cross-bar with a curling shot and David Mooney hammered a goal home to make it 5-1.
Andy Alvino came on and might have had 3 goals in 5 minutes...hitting the cross-bar, forcing a great save from East's keeper and a big appeal for hand-ball with one of his goal bound efforts.
Good to see Scott Bradley in the side helping spear the Knights up front with an on-fire Tom Foglia.
Good to see a lot of the East boys in after the game and great to catch up with Barney Rubble and fowler_23 and had a bit of a chat with Brian Groom...all the best for the rest of the season.
Today's win means that next year Southern Knights will celebrate their 20th season competing in the Sunday Premier Division.....an exciting, but realistically, a huge challenge for the Club.
Congrats to founders Colin Mooney and Colin MacPherson and also Matt Harrison still playing since starting with the Knights as a 15 year old in their very first season.

Yes was very tight and end to end, until then, apart from that bizzare red card I thought the Referee had a really good game, strange to do that, must have thought it was far worse than it looked from the sideline - hope he doesn't get more than one week

Well played to Florina yesterday. Coming back from 1-0 down on a pitch that hasn't been kind to them over the years. Great crowd they have down there and they ate us out of everything!! Best away support we have seen probably in the 3 years we have been in div 2.
Must say I was very impressed with the way our lads played today. There were a couple of forced changes on the day which disrupted but certainly didn't dampen the lads spirits. How a former club captain could allow his partner to have a baby on a Sunday morning is beyond belief
And great to see our Girls, Cs and Bs all sitting top of their respective leagues.

Just want to say well done to the Beograd linesman yesterday. For a club person to make some of the calls he did against his own team (correct decisions as well) with the pressure being put on him by the players was really admirable. One of the better club linesman we've had.
