This was an interesting read.
Not much different in Adelaide Town past & present.
Juniors funding the Senior side.
Eg in the old WA Hellas days loads of money was taken away from Park B27 Junior purse and given into the Seniors purse.
I think a lot of this is happening today with many clubs.
The Juniors are a $$$'s slave to the Seniors.
Who is in the current know? Please give us some input here ?

Re: Are Juniors funding Senior set ups in Adelaide Town?
Here we go again to year 1999.
These days all players inc Senior players pay up to $800 a year to play.
Cost more to play District Basketball and Swimming. Heck even Karate and Gym memberships are more expensive.
FFSA and FFA fees are high, insurance is high. It's a user pay to play system.
There aren't many sponsors dipping into there pockets nowadays.

Given you know that the FFA and FFSA fees are high, of the $800 you quote, how much of that is made up of FFA and FFSA fees?BeNatural wrote:Here we go again to year 1999.

Re: Are Juniors funding Senior set ups in Adelaide Town?
Apologies to Bud and Lou:
Abbott: Strange as it may seem, they give sponsors nowadays very peculiar names.
Costello: Funny names?
Abbott: Nicknames, nicknames. Now, for the soccer team, we have Who pays the firsts, What pays the seconds, I Don't Know pays the thirds--
Costello: That's what I want to find out. I want you to tell me the names of the fellows who sponsors the team.
Abbott: I'm telling you. Who pays the firsts, What pays the seconds, I Don't Know pays the thirds--
Costello: You know the fellows' names?

Abbott: That's the man's name.

Every clubs juniors fund the seniors in some way, whether that's fees, over the counter profits, fund raising or whatever, juniors fund the entire club and guess what, seniors are part of that same club.

This is the sad part of this game we love in Adelaide Town.
'The Juniors funding the Seniors & The governing Body'
The funding model is all wrong.
Parents forced to pay as stated on this forum$800pa. Most of this is not going back into Juniors.
Coaching in general is poor.
Senior team people in control Egos are pumped by Junior money.
In my books it is a 'SLAVE SHOP'. The times of children working in the coal mines for 'The Man'.

Even as recent as last month this topic came up at a family gathering.
What was mentioned in this gathering by a person was the following.
'In the old Hellas Days pocket loads of $$$'s was coming out of Park B27 to fund the Seniors.'

Re: Are Juniors funding Senior set ups in Adelaide Town?
When I played for Polonia under 12's in 1972.
We paid 40 cents each Friday to train only once a week on Polonia Reserve under lights. A small ticket was given to us as payment. The coach was Mr Edmund Koza. After training we got a small bottle of Cottees soft drink. I use to love the Raspberry flavor back then.
We played on Sundays.
We would meet at Polonia's ground if playing away. A small car pool would take us to the away grounds back then.
The club supplied socks, shorts & socks from a suitcase. Given back after the match.
I assume the coach washed the playing gear after for the following week.
The home team supplied the referees.
We also played primary school soccer on Saturday mornings in the NW Zone. I started playing for Croydon Partk PS in 1969.
At end of season during the Seniors Ampol Cup Night series the final of the Zone Competition was played at Hindmarsh under lights.
In 1972 I captained the NWZone to a win against Eastern Suburbs in the cup final at Hindmarsh under lights before the final of the Ampol Cup Night series.
In the side back then was names like
Mark Kosmina
Eddie Typek
David Dawn (sorry for the spelling, he later captained Polonia)
etc
I forgot the rest of the lads names.
Never given a pic of the side either then.

That's five entries in a row.
Probably time for a rest.

Re: Are Juniors funding Senior set ups in Adelaide Town?
I thinketh the real funding model is like this for Junior setups.
It should cost as much as 75% less for parents to pay because the biggest % of $$'s goes to seniors from these funds collected.
In the past that is why Park B27 was so strongly challenged by various clubs for 'rights to' when the liquidators came in around 2000.

Seniors would fold without Junior funding in Adelaide Town?

$800pa for a junior player, say 15 players per team, say 12 teams in a club = $144,000pa income from a junior club.
This is obviously must be funding senior sides in clubs in Adelaide???

yeah now minus the following costs;johndedes wrote:$800pa for a junior player, say 15 players per team, say 12 teams in a club = $144,000pa income from a junior club.

FFSA registration for a player
socks
shorts
strips
tracksuit
bag
jackets
ref fees
apparell - goals/bibs/balls/cones/poles/possibly goals, I'm sure many other things i missed
electricity to train under the lights
gas to heat the water that some may shower under after training
line marking powder/liquid
water bills to water the grounds
the lease for the grounds that the juniors play/train on
I could go on and on, so as you can see the 144K PA you mention is slowly being eaten. Of course juniors fund seniors but not in the capacity you are trying to suggest.

So IF what you say is correct dedes, what are your solutions to recitfying the situation.
Now, if you're lucky, you could hack through your ankle in five minutes.
Re: Are Juniors funding Senior set ups in Adelaide Town?
For starters. Stop the rot. Mass protest by parents to FFSA & Politicians.Mad_Max wrote:So IF what you say is correct dedes, what are your solutions to recitfying the situation.
All that is happening is people in control having their 'egos' rubbed. By trying have 'The best one mate' seniors team in the comp funded by a large percentage by parents Junior fees.
The slave trade in another form.
Like children mining for coal in the 1800's in the UK.

Re: Are Juniors funding Senior set ups in Adelaide Town?
Let me put it in perspective:
Fulham fees range from $250 to $475 for under 6 to under 17 with as many junior boys teams as any other FFSA Club.
FFSA fees are the same as any other ie team fees, rego fees etc
Clubs like City I know charge $875 for under 11 and other Super League Clubs are the same so who knows what they charge for 15s, 16s etc
You do the maths so where does all this extra money go from the junior fees - u bet to pay the 1st team players.
Fulham gets by with fees at these levels because we don't pay what these State and Super League clubs do in wages to players - outrageous amounts if what I hear is correct.
We still have junior co-ordinators which are paid positions and 7 light towers that use a lot of electricity but we still get by on these junior fees as well.
Wake up parents - these high fees u pay at these clubs are to pay the over inflated egos of the 1st team.
John Dedes u r right on the money.

So if Fulhams fees are on average $400 less per junior player and Fulham has 250 junior boys what does a State or Super League club do with the extra $100,000 if we compare a club with the same amount of junior boys?Stitch This wrote:People hear all sorts of figures, but funnily enough no-one is brave enough to post them.bigpond wrote:Let me put it in perspective:

Like I said FFSA fees are all the same, we have club rooms and light bills to pay and same standard costs as other clubs eg strips etc.
And you would expect some of these other clubs to rake in more sponsorship money than what we get so where does the $100,000 plus go.
Give u 1 guess..................
Like it has been said - if parents r happy to pay then good on them but let's not beat around the bush
