Fiorentina should have thought about that when they continually held out for 30m for JoJo. It was clear that he was Juve's first choice, but now may not be needed with Tevez and Llorente. Will be even harder if we don't offload Matri, Vucinic, Quags, etc for decent cash.BAGGIO 15 wrote:Jovetic has declined a chance to negotiate with Napoli holding out for a move to Juve. That would be nice but due to a poor relationship between us and Fiorentina I can't see it happening.
Only thing is Fiorentina need the money to get Gomez.

Vucinic may go toZenit but at the moment they have only offered 9 mil, but we want 18.David Puddy wrote:Fiorentina should have thought about that when they continually held out for 30m for JoJo. Napoli now want Gomez, but Bauern have been quick to tell Napoli that he wants Fiorentina.
Napoli with all this money but a few have said they rather not. Is the issue living there as you wouldn't think it's a football decision solely.

Re: Calciomercato Serie A
The question is asked in the last sentence of the quote you made regard the issue with some players not wanting to go to Naples when you guys are in the CL in favor of a side that is not.
You mentioned Lavezzi and Cavani, both players who have left well one about to follow the other.
Factor in Gomez or even Jovetic mentioning no desire to go to Naples, hence the question.
Strong football side, but are the issue's of the city making it harder to attract players.
Valid question, to Napoli fans who I thought could fill me in instead seem to think I'm stirring.
For those that know me that's not how I play, serious question and I was seeking you opinions.

The question of safety for your family would definitiely come into play when a player thinks of going to play in Naples.

Looks like Gomez to Fiorentina is done. No word yet from either club, but being reported by a lot of media outlets.

Its on the official Fiorentina site.Juventino wrote:Looks like Gomez to Fiorentina is done. No word yet from either club, but being reported by a lot of media outlets.
Also Ogbonda has declined the opportunity to move to Napoli, that's another not wanting to go.
Seriously, what's the issue's that players would not be interested in living in the city?
A Napoli fan I play with says its the crime, but as I've only ever been to the train station while passing through and know very little other then what I'm told I'm surprised.

http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/fl/naples/crime/
Crimes far worse in Florida then Naples.
I guess the crime issue is over stated as the average crime figures in the US and Florida in particular are much higher.
I've been to the US twice recently and would go again in a heart beat, but my wife who's Nap was scared at the rail station in Naples but was happy in the US.
That's media for you I guess, distorting reality.

Re: Calciomercato Serie A
Legit question from Baggio, the fact of the matter is, like every city there are crime figures thrown around. I spent almost a week in the city and didnt get hassled once - if you stay out the bad areas, you should be fine.
The majority of the players don't live right inside the city anyway, a few live up in Posilippo (well to do area overlooking the city), some on the outskirts of Caserta (like Cavani) to escape the media hype and fans seeking autographs etc
Gomez has made a lifestyle choice and with that comes the fact that he will not play in the Champions league. Napoli offered more money and he still knocked it back.
Damiao bid has been made (official 18 million) and the other rumour is a bid has also been made for Jackson Martinez of Porto. That would give us great depth up front, along with Callejon of Real who has just signed (back up to Insigne and Mertens).
Julio Cesar looks to be on his way, De Sanctis to Roma. Rafael has been signed from Santos as a second keeper/challenge for the no 1 jersey.
Now we need a really decent centre back and we are looking a lot more competitive than last year - I mean that in terms of depth, Cavani is a massive loss lets be honest, but when he went down or thru a bad patch we had no other striker to rely on. If we cant get Martinez then I would like Matri.

Can't see Ibra and Cavani playing together. Especially when you throw Lavezzi, Pastore, etc into that mix. Something has to give. Could Ibra be on the way back to Serie A?BAGGIO 15 wrote:I tipped Cavani to stay, but now I'm interested to see how he combines with Ibra.
Awesome front 2.
As for Gomez, great signing for the Viola at a reasonable price. Expect him to follow in the footsteps of Klose and be another consistent German goalscorer in Serie A.
Hopefully the Ogbonna deal is wrapped up quickly. Do Juve fans see any more major signings after that? Or just offloading players and sorting out loans and co-ownerships?
Re: Calciomercato Serie A
Getting rid of players is a must for Marotta if/when Ogbonna is wrapped up. Juve will still try for Jovetic and I believe tempt Fiorentina with cash + player offers (don't see 30 mil offered). Jovetic would be the icing on the cake. He's not entirely needed this term, but would be fantastic to sign. Glad that the major signings are already done.
Gomez + Rossi (if he returns to something close to his best) + Ljajic/Jovetic is a fantastic forward line for Fiorentina. If they convince Pizzaro to stay, get a defender and goalkeeper, then that's a really strong side.

Callejon is in Naples, deal appears done provided his not mugged or murdered.

Re: Calciomercato Serie A
Carry him over? I think he is a very handy player to have, very professional, always gives his all and never gripes about riding the bench. He has found himself a nice little niche in being a utility player that can play a few positions competentely. On top of this he wouldn't command a huge chunk of a teams wages and he is the type of player that is handy when squad depth is required to compete on several fronts. Personally I'd rather see him stay.
He was also Italy's most enterprising player at the Confed's and before I'm shot down, I know it's only the Confed Cup and most of Italy's players were below their best, but still played well against some decent teams.

I'd prefer you keep him too, so there's at least one thing we can agree on

Re: Calciomercato Serie A
Napoli snares Callejon
12 July 2013-PA Sport
Napoli has completed the signing of Jose Callejon from Real Madrid, the two clubs confirmed.
Callejon travelled to Italy this week to undergo his medical and the 26-year-old has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Rafael Benitez's side.
Neither club has officially confirmed how much the deal is worth but reports in Italy suggest Napoli have agreed to pay Real 10 million euros ($14.25 million) for the former Spain Under-21 international.
Napoli said in a statement on its website: "Napoli announce the outright purchase of Jose Maria Callejon, the 26-year-old forward who comes from Real Madrid."
Callejon came up through the youth ranks at Madrid but moved to Espanyol in 2008 without making a first-team appearance for the club. He then returned to the Bernabeu in 2011 on a five-year contract and made 87 appearances in all competitions under Jose Mourinho.
Benitez has already brought in Belgian winger Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven this northern summer as he reinforces an Azzurri squad that finished second behind Juventus under former coach Walter Mazzarri.

Re: Calciomercato Serie A
Ogbonna joins Tevez and Llorente as official signings, while Giaccherini to Sunderland seems all but done.
Great start to the transfer window for us. Even though the season is a while away from starting, I really can't see anyone challenging Juve for the title. Depth in all areas, Conte into his third season, as well as the continued revenue from the stadium and the CL campaign.
Napoli are making some good acquisitions but will lose Cavani and have a brand new regime and formation under Benitez to get accustomed to. Same goes for Inter and Mazzari, and Milan really haven't made an impact in the transfer market yet. Roma, Lazio and Fiorentina should be around the mark, but I think a top 3 finish and a CL spot will be a more realistic target for them.

Saw an interview with Conte who made an interesting point - he is disappointed that Napoli have sold Cavani because they will re-invest that 63 million back into improving the squad.
I am looking at the sale from a positive viewpoint - Juve have won with squad solidarity and depth. That's what we need to aspire to.

Zuniga to Juve keeps on resurfacing. I can see him signing for us, particularly if Isla and Giaccherini both leave. Also, Caceres is more of a CB then a wing back so I think we might be a bit short in those areas. Zuniga would be okay for the right price IMO.
