We had a similar situation at Mount Barker a few years ago. Match was replayed. We were losing 2-1 at the time but won the replay 0-3.

It's good when the league is decided on the last day which may be the case this year. St Peters definitely having a good run, but too early maybe?

my first amateur football game in Oz for two years. i forgot how much Aussie players whinge to the refs!!!

that being said he was ordinary. missed an absolute blatant handball on the line by Iggies player when score was 2-2 but then gave Iggies a penalty and failed to send off or even card the player who clearly denied (last man) a goalscoring opportunity.

thought both teams did well in the conditions, sturt went in front 2-3 with 10ish left then scored the fourth on a break later on.

Looks like back to Div 3 for ARBE, pumped by a fellow relegation team doesn't really suggest they want to fight to stay. :(

Great win for the A's today, in tough conditions and against a solid Gleeson side. Must win game for us to keep us in touch. Some of the boys battled injuries to play today, and special mention to Steve, who despite being injured, battled on to start and score a brace and set up the winner. That's how you represent our club.

Reserves, and myself included, were terrible today. Underestimated an improving Gleeson side, and we paid dearly. We were our own worst enemies today. Way too much whinging and complaining, and that was when we were 2-1 up at half time?!!!!

Gleeson stole it in the final minute, but worthy winners in the end. Unlike us, they battled it out to the end, put us under the pump in the last 20-30 minutes, and their pressure paid off. In saying that, we played well below our best, and again, because we didn't give Gleeson, or each other, the respect deserved.

Many of our younger players have to get rid of that chip on their shoulder and stop being so precious on the pitch. Some of the behaviour from my team mates today was simply embarrassing. First and foremost, we play for the club, the badge, and each other. Today we did none of those things, and result aside, we embarrassed the club and ourselves. We play reserves for a reason, because we're not yet good enough to play A's. If you think you know it all, and are not willing to listen and learn from your coach, or team mates, get comfortable, because you'll be enjoying a long career in the reserves.

I've played football for 28 years, and today was the first time I have ever felt embarrassed to be part of my team. We disrespected our opponents, each other, and our club. I love my club, and I'm indebted to them, so today was unacceptable. I have no doubt we can turn it around, but attitudes will have to change.

Well done Gleeson, for showing us how a real team plays together, and fights till the end to win a game. Deserved winners, and best of luck for the rest of the season.

Nice bit of honesty their. No doubt Hawkesy will find some way to twist it.

A shame the firsts were called off, annoying, but definitely the right decision. Well done to the Stirling b and c teams, played the conditions very well, good club refs too.

Top of the table clash against East Adelaide.

Seniors - 2:2
Reserves - 3:3

East Adelaide are a top side and it was our biggest test of the season. A real intense game played for 90 minutes. Most of our boys have come from higher division teams and I assume that east adelaide is of a similar story. Game was played at another level to most of our other games this season.

For us it's a good result, we maintain our 5 point lead at the top, with a game in hand.

Maybe they need to be told, they know who I am. All I am saying is have some passion for your club and the logo on the shirt, they are better than that.

I think it's a fair point. I think most clubs will always have one or two players who think playing football is about focusing on their own performance and proving to others they can play. I'd like to think the majority who step out there each week know that it's all about playing for each other and the shirt, and sometimes that means sacrificing your own game and just doing your job for the greater good of the team.

Sometimes players have to realise that they don't have to make something magical happen every time they touch the ball. Doing the small simple things right is what really matters, and although it may not get the crowd cheering your name, it's what builds strong teams and wins games. The minute you start trying to do too much, and forget your role in the team, it's like a chain reaction that puts unnecessary added pressure on the players around you, and the rest of your team mates suffer as a result.

Don't know who was more disappointed, the a graders who missed out on a game, or GIAE who missed out on his free beer at half time.
