Referees
Why have we lacked referees lately?
In the last 3 games we have managed to have 1 referee. Referees are not even showing up to games.
Surely paying $500-$900 (depending on club) we can get a referee every game?
Thoughts on this..

We first of all they need to decide what games should have refs, we all know they are limited.
Personally no JSL game should get a ref and clubs should pay the FFSA less for these teams and pay a club ref.
U11/12/13 should not have refs and clubs should pay the FFSA less for these teams and pay a club ref.
This will allow most if not all U15/16/17 to have a ref possibly two.
But I am a moron and many will agree.

Re: Referees
I'm sure with the money FFSA referees get, they could scratch up a few more people to referee.
And you said u/12's should never get a referee, yet u/12s is one of the most important years. It determines what league you are going to be in for the following year.
I agree that JSL leagues shouldn't have referees. But if under 11's, 12's 13's never had refs, does the home team or away team ref?

Re: Referees
So if they shouldn't even play for points, once you hit u/14s you just get put in a random league?

Re: Referees
Either way the FFSA should sort their stuff out, and be able to get referees together for the games needed. For example, I heard the u/14's at Raiders JPL, in the quarter finals of the cup, didn't have a referee show up. Whats happening there?

Re: Referees
they could use their resources better, not long ago U14 getting to the end of the year top vs second, winner wins league, no ref. You guessed it club ref took the game, complete shambles and an absolutely disgusting show of bad decisions for the home team. However, down the road bottom vs bottom in the same league (both teams could not get out of relegation) and our 2 JSL teams (U12/13) all had refs, decisions like this could be handled better.
Another example are rivalry club games, all these should have refs, and considering this weekend a lot of teams had a bye there is no excuse why all cup game don't get a ref and or 3.

Re: Referees
a) How do you know they didn't have refs allocated to these games and the ref just didn't bother turning up?Manshaft F.C. wrote:Either way the FFSA should sort their stuff out, and be able to get referees together for the games needed. b) Not enough refs, quelle surprise? When you read stories week in, week out, on here about coaches and parents abusing refs and linesman, why would anyone bother getting out of bed early on a Sunday morning to ref a game?
c) Despite what you may have read on here, the majority of the fees you pay go to the club, not the FFSA.
Time for some righteous indignation
Re: Referees
At my boys U/13's games this year at E&D not only do we have an official ref at every game but 5 of the 8 games official linesmans have also been supplied.
Re: Referees
Few weeks ago White City v Modbury Jets U16's - game was called off as both teams had white socks on!!!! I understand that it is in the rule but how pathetic for the ref to call this a forfeit on the away team. Luckily FFSA have re-scheduled the game for next week, both teams allowing to wear white socks. Especially since FFSA have apporved from both teams home and away strips.

My son plays for Modbury.Mullo wrote:Jets away strip has blue socks?Toon Army wrote:Few weeks ago White City v Modbury Jets U16's - game was called off as both teams had white socks on!!!! Raiders v Salisbury Reserves game last week both teams had blue socks ..... Either the ref noticed and like any normal person would not think twice about it, as long as the strips are different. I think just a ref showing his muscle or small man syndrome.Željko Jurin wrote:Raiders v Salisbury Reserves game last week both teams had blue socks ..... Rubbish. Kids should be taught discipline from day one.

Re: Referees
This is no different to skins, some refs do, some don't.
Passive offside some do, some don't.
Three or so weeks ago a ref gave a kid a yellow after the whistle, for picking up the ball and kicking it into the air due to frustration, after losing a close game. Then last week after being beaten a keeper lets fly with 'f this' 'f that' and the ref does nothing at all.

When you find out, you'll realise how important it is to the referees
