Second string Spain win 11-0.

Looking at their so called second string still better than England. Player such as Matta, Silva, Villa, Cazorloa would be walk up starters for England.

I missed the first hour this morning, but from what I saw there were more positive signs than in the Japan game. Defensively it's a concern (I think the tools are there to play 3-5-2) to have conceded eight in three games, so plenty for Prandelli to work on in the next year. Still, two offside goals, one from a soft free kick - which was well finished mind you - so it wasn't so bad.

Apart from Tahiti have been impressed with the technical quality and the attacks no nature of the tournament. Lets hope the World Cup in 2014 is just as exciting.

Italy definitely playing more attacking under Prandelli, but conceding too many which could be a major problem come next year.

Brazil into the Final following a late winner against Uruguay. That Neymar dive was brilliant in its ridiculousness . Good to see Cavani scoring, never really translates club form to the international game.

Gilardino starting up front against Spain - this should be fun!

And I thought out of the players left, Bonucci, normally so good on the ball, would put his penalty away.

Fantastic game, can't fault Italy, they looked so much better all over the field than in the group games. The 3-5-2 suits the team much more.

Brief video highlights of Confed Final on FIFA.com.

Never thought that Neymar had a left-foot shot.

Apart from Tahiti, it wasn't a bad dress-rehearsal one year out from the 2014 Brazil World Cup Finals.

I was surprised FIFA still had the irrelevant game for 3rd place, let alone not going straight to penalties after 90 minutes. From memory UEFA don't bother with a 3rd place play-off in the longer Euro Nations tournament & maybe FIFA did the same in previous Confed Cup World Cup dress-rehearsals.

IMO better for FIFA to have dismissed the losing semi-finalists to go off on holidays to recharge their exhausted batteries...

I don't mind the 3rd/4th playoff, it's an extra game of football and generally an open game. Nothing wrong with that. The Italy - Uruguay match was an example of that, although it understandably died off in extra time.
