Post by The Kop »

21:30 in Athens, which makes it a 5am kick off here on Sunday morning 25th March (with daylight saving changes).

Rosemont will broadcast it. Interesting for this tie, venues accross Australia have been split up into Greek supporter only venues and Turkey supporter only venues by the broadcaster Setanta. Rosemont is listed as a Greek supporter only venue. Cost of entry will likely be $20
Tickets can be pre-purchased through tickitek venues or online, otherwise first in best dressed at the Rosemont.

I have no idea. They havent listed a Turkish venue for WA, SA or ACT.
Im guessing they will just rock up regardless and Rosemont will put them in the back room. Depending on how many Greek supporters there are.

Also, anyone with GreekNetTV game will be on Mega.

But quality will never be the same as TV.

Domestic players added::

Nikopolidis, Anatolakis, Torosidis (Olympiakos), Chalkias (Aris), Papadopoulos, Salpiggidis, Vyntra, Goumas, Tziolis (PAO), Dellas, Lymberopoulos (AEK)

Good to see Torosidis in the squad, he has been brilliant since his move from Xanthi.
Tziolis too has been in good form for PAO.
2 good youngsters who should be a part of the Greek midfield for years to come.

Dissapointed to see Vyntra there (who cant even make the XI at PAO) and Chalkias (a younger keeper should have been chosen for the experience).

Would like to see: Illiaidis,Balafas, Ninis and Papastathopoulos integrated soon too.

Likely lineup::

-----------------Nikopolidis------------

Seitaridis----Dellas--Kyrgiakos--Fyssas

-------------------Basinas---------------
-----------Katsouranis--Karagounis----

--------Stelios--------------------Samaras
---------------------Gkekas-------------

=======
Personally would prefer to see Torosidis in for Basinas, and Lymbe in for Stelios or Samaras (we always play well when he plays).

i agree, lymbe is a better option, the greek forward line is now looking a little better than it used to, i think charisteas is better used off the bench, gkekas is in form and samaras is quality, basinas has done his dash and its time for him to go, lymbe in that line up, defence looks good too although i think dellas is injured, id prefer to see someone else instead of fyssas too, other than that i think we are heading in right direction after the failure of reaching the WC

interesting, although our attack looks pretty good, i think salpiggidis deserves to be somewhere in there...

or at the very least used off the bench...

on this note though, greek attack looks pretty promising - we have plenty of options..

-samaras
-charisteas
-salpiggidis
-gkekas
-amanatidis
-stelios
-lyberopoulos

surely our problems of the past (of not being able to score) should not continue to haunt us.... surely!!!

i agree though... time for fyssas to go and also (as kop said) we need a young keeper to come through the ranks... surely nikopolidis doesnt have too long left in him..
everyone is entitled to my opinion

yeh he is retired from the the NT.
1 goal in 14 for Xanthi. But Xanthi are the bore draw kings.

Fyssas' time is surely up, but the problem is theres no natural left fullback to replace him. Lagos and Leonitou can play left full back but are both midfielders. Id be interested to see if Torosidis or a fit Patsasoglou can do the job there.

Emre is out i believe. As to are German based midfielders Basturk and Halil Altintop. Number 1 keeper Rustu and highly rated Besiktas Gokhan Zan central defender are also out.
They are missing quite a few important players.

Likely Turkish lineup::
Volkan, Mehmet Topuz, Servet, ??, Uzulmez, Tugay, Nuri Sahin, Aurelio, Tuncay, Fatih Tekke, Hamit Altintop

The 6 in midfield and attack are quality. Tugay may be getting a little old, but still very good. Nuri Sahin is 18 and starting for Dortmund, Aurelio is the Brazilian Fenerbache player that was naturalised. Tuncay is a gun, but always injured. Tekke was leading scorer in Turkish league for many seasons and recently moved to Zenit St Petersburg for €9m (replacement for Kerzakov), and the other Altintop twin plays regularly for Shakle.

Id say on paper Turkey have a better squad.
======

Nickfahey, wont be on SBS. Setanta pay per view channel (@ Rosemont) only on TV, otherwise plenty of free streams on the net if you have a quick enough connection.

Look i dont like to bring politics into FOOTBALL because it does ruin it but on this occassion i hope we SKISI the crap out of those disrespectful KOLOPETHA, why u ask??? Because of independance day??? NO.

But because those turkish maggots (and calling them maggots is being nice to them the way i feel) have had the audacity to say ELLAS does not exist. Your probably thinking what is the COLOSSUS on about, well here it is. A few weeks back the European Union asked all the Countries of Europe including Turkey to give the EU what it thought its borders were and to give the EU what it thought its country should look like on the MAP. Well the Turks, smartassssses that they are pulled the biggest malaaaakia in modern day history by not even recognising that ELLAS existed and to add insult to the wound by claiming that all of ELLAS and its NISIA were turkeys land.

Now fuken stupid are these people, seriously??? Lets not forget that a few years back when Turkey had that massive Earthquake it was ELLAS who sent the biggest contingent of RESCUERS to help them. Lets not forget that half of Turkey has GREEK named Cities and that if Alexander really wanted too, he would of wiped them off the map with no problems whatsoever. I cant believe these guys would even begin to start up on their old tricks again but alas, the true turko in them just couldnt resist. I hope we smash them and i hope they limp back all the way to that scumbag country of theirs. Sorry but im pissed off, the Audacity of these people is amazing, just to think i was starting to give them alittle time of day after recent happenings, what the hell was i thinking???
