Suarez: Will be hard to say no to Madrid

Luis Suarez has suggested to Uruguayan radio station Sport 890 that the English press may force him out of Liverpool - and indicated he would be willing to sign for Real Madrid.

Suarez, 26, will serve out the remaining six games of the ten-game ban he was given by the Football Association for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanoivc at the start of next season. He has also been accused of diving, not to mention the racism storm involving Patrice Evra which resulted in an eight-game FA ban.

The striker has regularly featured on the back pages of the English newspapers due to his poor disciplinary record, and he now says that could lead to him leaving the Premier League.

When asked if there was any truth in the stories linking him to Real Madrid, Suarez said: "The desire to win with the big clubs is always there. I've talked to my agent, there's nothing concrete. To say no to Madrid would always be difficult and more so with the team they have.

"I have a contract with Liverpool, but it would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid. There are a lot of rumours in the transfer window, but you never know until firm offers are made.

"I'm happy at Liverpool. I'm happy because of the fans. I made a mistake, I'm human, but they've talked about me in ways they shouldn't have. My family have suffered and things got out of hand. My daughter and my wife have suffered. I'm not prepared to continue to put up with the English press.

"I love Liverpool, but if there is a chance of playing somewhere else... I suffered too much as a kid to get where I am to be attacked unfairly by the English press. They haven't appreciated me as a player, they've just judged my attitude."



Well looks like he could be off. Im sure he would leave at any chance since he hates the english press and his family are involved. liverpoo will struggle big time to replace him if he does go

Would be a massive loss, had a wonderful season amid the controversy. Sturridge did step up but I cant see him being as prolific as Suarez just yet. We need a world class striker to be chasing the top 4, and Suarez is that striker

I think you're going to have to replace like for like to have any chance. Sturridge is a great player, but i don't think he'll win you anything on his own.

Really? I can think of 2 run ins.

1 was for biting a player that the referee hasn't already dealt with. The other was for numerous instances of racially abusing another player.

I am struggling to think of when the FA have even had to deal with one of those instances before.

As always, the devil's in the detail and it's been worded (as all statements tend to be) to leave the door open.

I'm sure he is happy at Pool and I'm sure he is not actively seeking a move anywhere, however it doesn't say that he's only ever wanted to play at Anfield and he'd stay whatever offers come in.

We get exactly the same stuff with Bale. It just depends on what offers are made and whether the clubs find them acceptable.

Best we can hope for is a youngster with potential or someone who was once highly regarded but has stalled at their current club.
But if Sturridge continues to score next season like the end of this, we'll be OK.

Dunno if he’d suit Real, especially if they go after Bale too.
You’d have a front three of Ronaldo, Bale and Suarez…all three of them similar players who want to be the focus of the attack and have the ball at their feet.
Hopefully Real go for Cavani who’s a better fit and Suarez stays.
